Thanks for watching! These are some of my favourite rides for quick days when I don’t have a ton of time. I also enjoy riding up Cypress Mountain, and around the Mission area. What are your favourite day rides where you live?

Some beautiful destinations in your neck of the woods for sure. One of these days... when us Yanks are allowed back into your beautiful country, I need to visit some of my local day trips in BC and the Yukon. I'm locked in here in Skagway, Alaska since all of my bike rides need to go through Canada... sigh. So many locations to choose from, but if pressed, I'd have to say going to Atlin, BC from Skagway, is my favorite. Atlin is one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
Nelson to Kaslo always a favorite, looping over to New Denver and back to Nelson when time allows. Or, hit the Kootenay lake ferry, to Creston, and back over the Pass to Nelson. There are some great roads just across the border, too - but not this year, I guess. This weekend I did something different and headed over the Gray Creek Pass, staying a couple nights in Kimberley, and did a day ride from here today, hitting some local sights.

Great video Megan, really enjoyed watching it, well done. We live in the North East of England. One of our favourite rides is to a beautiful seaside town called Scarborough. We always take the longer route there through the countryside. And return along the coastal route. A few miles north of Scarborough is the beautiful resort of Whitby. The town was used by Braum Stoker as the setting for his best selling novel Dracula. Mileage is about 110 miles. Time wise, all day i I r a quick evenings ride. It depends on how many stops you make on route. Look forward to your next video Megan, take care and ride safe.... Neil

Hwy 66 down to Powderface Trail is nice on a street bike during the week when it's more quiet. If you have something to go off road, then the weekend is nice to ride Powderface Trail, keeps you away from the crazy log haulers during the week. Going up to Banff, and riding up to Norquay is is a top 5. The road to Norquay is the closest thing to the Swiss Alps that I've come across in Canada. And it's really fun to play the coasting game going back down. Let gravity do the work and practice carrying speed into the corners and not touching the brakes, unless there's a slow cager in the way and ruins the fun. Hwy 93 from Lake Loise to Hwy 11 then making your way back down to Calgary is a good loop too. It's spring in the city and by the time you get onto Hwy 93 it's become winter again and there's still 3'-6' snowbanks on the sides of the road. Hwy 22 down to Crowsnest Pass is nice. And if you've got all day, you could make it out to Creston from Calgary and back. Be about 14ish hours if you stop to taste the ice cream and get some fruit. Number 1 spot so far is Going to the Sun Road through Glacier National Park just across Montana. Unfortunately won't be able to do that this year it looks like. But at the bottom of the road is West Glacier town, has a restaurant that serves Elk and Bison burgers!!! Best burgers I've had.

When I was a student at University of Rochester, I made weekend trips to Toronto for Chinese food and magnificent Canadian scenery around lake Ontario. Along with Vancouver, they are the pearls of the North. I love your footage riding through the dense pine forest that reminded me of northern California and Oregon. The views around Vancouver lakes on your ride were so pristine. El Leitz Canada was our supplier in Midland Ontario, just two hours north of Toronto. When an opportunity opened up for a business trip, I volunteered to fly from California to Toronto to admire the magnificent view from the airport to Midland and back to the airport.

Thanks for another spectacular episode. What a joy it must be to ride in B.C. Here in Dallas, TX there are very few really scenic rides. It’s pretty flat and mundane here. East of Dallas, over around Tyler, Palestine, and Rusk are the beautiful “Piney Woods”, with lots of twisty roads, low hills, and pine forests. West of Dallas and Fort Worth there is the Hill Country, with buttes and mesas, and lots of back country roads. This area extends south to the famed Hill Country west of Austin, TX. Nice for around here, but, pretty tame compared to B.C. We go to Big Bend N.P. in southwest Texas every year, and it is a motorcycle paradise. For the dual-sport, or off road riders, there are literally hundreds of miles of rugged back country dirt roads there. For the pavement riders, there are several roller-coaster paved roads through Big Bend N.P. and Big Bend State Park. I guarantee you’ll love it. Come On Down

I have a lot of favorite day places. When I lived in Victoria, BC, Tofino was my favorite place; when I lived in Calgary, it was Banff National Park; in Halifax, it was Peggy's Cove; when I lived in San Antonio, Texas, it was Padre Island; when I lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, it was White Sands National Park. Now that I live in Lubbock, Texas, it's Palo Duro Canyon State Park near Amarillo, rated the best in Texas. The hiking is fabulous, but you can also camp, ride horses, take a jeep tour, or even zip line through part of the canyon. It's a spiritual place, and you can almost share the love for this place and the beauty among the spirit of the Native Americans that once lived there. If you like the solitude, as I do, you will certainly come across a few road runners on the trail. I make the one-hour drive from Lubbock every chance I get to hike and balance my soul. I hope you get to see this place in the future. Thank you for sharing your travel experiences.

My favourite full day Moto trip is Vancouver the Duffy Lake Road (DLR). Head East to Hope, North to Lillooet, West to Pemberton and finally South back to Vancouver. Counterclockwise gets the boring Fraser Valley Highway over in the AM. Start early and beat the traffic and arrive home at a reasonable hour. Second favourite is the 1/2 or 3/4 day ride Vancouver to Mount Baker - though the border to the USA needs to be open. July / Aug / Sep are excellent - the views are epic. My third favourite is a full day ride as well, to the Sunshine Coast. Take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale - then ride all the way up to Egmont. If you bring hiking shoes, you can see the Skookumchuck rapids which are amazing when the tide is flowing in / out - slack tide not so much, but still a nice hike. Or skip the hike and head South again for a lunch at one of the many options in Pender Harbour. There is another easy hike off the main road at Smugglers Cove which provides so many great viewpoints. Great video!!!!

These are definitely some nice trips within close reach of the city. Stave Lake in Mission is also a short reach. For a full day trip, I like to head out to Pemberton and Lilooet. Duffy Lake Road is my favorite!

Thank you for showing the beautiful scenery of Vancouver. In fact, in 2013, I had been thinking about immigration to Canada or Germany. If I had immigrated to Canada at that time, I might have been able to ride the bike together. ^^ After watching this video of you, someday I definitely wanted to travel to Canada. I always wish you and your family a healthy life.

nice few rides. Nice scenic rides along the rivers. Canada and nature is always inviting to visit. Your vids always give me the itch to jump on my bike. Now I am really looking forward to my month long motorcycle trip, I need to put some serious mileage and seriously get reconnected to riding. Covid killed a lot of this years riding. I was born and raised in Texas. I’ve traveled north but only lived in the south, here and Florida. I’ve been in Washington State, Seattle area, and many other northern U. S. states. I’ve been thinking about taking a trip from here, San Antonio, Tx. to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska almost 4500 miles one way. I’ll need to determine distances between population centers the further north I go. You could tell me the best time of year, or should I say which summer months to make that kind of Journey by motorcycle. It was nice seeing you on video again Megan. I hope to see more of you in the near future on video. Have fun. 🇺🇸
@MeganKaptein4 жыл бұрын
Darryl, that would be one epic trip! Unfortunately the Alaskan border is still closed, otherwise I would also consider making the trip there. Maybe next summer? I think August is probably the best month to ride northern BC/Alaska.
@noelhenderson7003 жыл бұрын
The only place you would likely have fuel issues would be on either Highway 37 from Kitwanga to Watson Lake. Or, if you go the other way The Alaska highway north of Fort St. John/Dawson Creek might be a bit tight. If you can do 300 Km or roughly 200 miles you should be alright though. Right now though, the native reserves are tricky to get through. In general the best months would be July August and September. A side note, if you use hwy 37 either coming or going you can drop into Stewart BC and Hyder Ak. If you like mountains and glaciers it's worth it.

Great video style., especially your drone shots. Nice rides for sure. Try Boston Bar for lunch, preferable about 9 km past to the Canyon Alpine cafe. Bit of a greasy spoon but biker friendly and great pies. Good Ruben, too. BTW, the Sasquatch Inn in Harrison Mills is biker friendly. Don't be afraid of the Harleys. Ask for Bruce of Nancy and say that Ed sent you.

Hi Megan! These are great ideas for rides when visiting Vancouver. Near my hometown of Kingston, ON I really like the Thousand Islands Parkway that stretches from Gananoque to Brockville, ON (about 80 km long). It passes by the Thousand Islands National Park, Thousand Islands bridge to New York, Rockport where the tour boats dock and many campgrounds and day picnic sites. Plus the wonderful views across the St Lawrence river and the thousand islands themselves are very beautiful. There are no transport trucks allowed! Rockport is a great place to park near a restaurant patio and enjoy a cool one or some lunch. If you are ever around, try it!

Ron, thanks for watching and for sharing your favourite rides. I keep a little list in my Google Maps of all the nice roads to ride for future travels, so I appreciate the tip. I was born in London, Ontario and moved to Vancouver when I was 10... have only been back once!

Greetings Megan from New Zealand. I have just accidentally discovered you........ what a gem. You produce a nice feel to the video and use your obvious skills well. The video packed quite a punch for a five minute watch. As a like minded producer I can see the trouble you go to with your many varied shots and your well chosen music sits nicely in the background adding to the show. Impressed and delighted. You have another subscriber.

Thank you so much, Darryl. Your kind words mean a lot, especially coming from a fellow producer.

Hi, thank you for another great video. It's cool to see you standing in the same places I ride. Whistler is my favorite of the ones you mentioned, I am riding up there with a couple of friends this Sunday. Watching the planes at Iona is fun. Alouette is a nice ride, apparently you will need a day pass to visit the park now, its to do with social distancing. I don't ride to Pitt much, the road in was too rough for my last bike ( I broke the headlight assembly ). As for me, my favorite day ride is catching a early ferry to Langdale and heading up the Sunshine Coast to Earl's Cove. Thank you , take care. I'll be sure to wave if I see you out on the road.
@MeganKaptein4 жыл бұрын
Seth, that Sunshine Coast is a great ride too! But I feel it's best to do as an overnighter because it is SO beautiful (and expensive) to go for just one day.

Hello Megan! Did I see a KLM plane just landing ... The blue bird from home .. what a coincidence..ha ha. Yes Canada is so vast and beautiful. It is really on my list once we are over this Covid..! To tour here in the Netherlands is easy but less spectacular as it is just small and quite busy. However there is the Veluwe , to the Posbank near Arnheim, or to go to Maastricht area where the Ardennes in Belgium are not far or go to the Eifel in Germany just near by.. However the vastness of your country is stunning and you have many roads where you really all alone with your bike..Thanks for your nice video.. Cheers and stay safe..
