I was on the GG 25-29 May. 1st night on the repositioned Glas-dhoire site, the site with the bears you checked out. 2nd night at the ‘wild camping’ spot at Kyltra locks. D3 wild camped about 4 miles before Drumnadrochit. D4 Abriachan Eco camping, D5 Inverness and a hostel. Worst day was the first on the tow path but other than that I was surprised how high above the canal the patch was. Enjoyed your video.😊

Great video, I have wanted to canoe the GGW for years

Cheers! I think it's more fun canoeing the route than walking it.

Nice job boys. It's pretty frustrating when a promoted tourism route dumps you onto detours. Not very joined up management from Scottish-whatever Good to see some true grit and humour dragged you thru. 🏅
@Adventure-OutdoorsАй бұрын
Cheers Steve, aye some sort of notice at the start of the route would’ve been helpful.

Hey, thanks for the interesting video. I'm going to be walking the GGW this Saturday. Just regarding the detour you had, I didn't quite work out where it was? I know the high road from Fort Augustus to Invermorriston is closed. Where did you have the problem? Thanks again...👍
@Adventure-Outdoors24 күн бұрын
The detour was just after Laggan and right at the start of Loch Oich by the bridge. It’s not a detour as such as the route goes along both banks of the loch and you can walk either way, but you have to walk via Invergarry now. We were aiming for the Leiterfearn wild camping spot on the southern shore. Hope that helps! Have a great time on the walk and thanks for watching 👍

@@Adventure-Outdoors ah I see. Thanks a lot. I'll check that out on the map. I did the WHW last year so am excited about this. Will be a different experience for sure. Cheers...

Cracking video gents, took me back two years ago and we had a similar trip to yours, some tough hiking in that, I do have a say though, that last day looks a bit suss?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Adventure-OutdoorsАй бұрын
Cheers! I re-watched Dave’s video before I left for some inspiration. Yeah the last day looks suspect, but I can assure you that we only got the bus part of the way 😂😂😂👍.

Nice one Ben. Those diversions seem to take its toll, so those drinks were definitely deserved. Would you compare it to the west highland way? Better or worse? Hope you and Tris are well mate. 🙂

Hi Martin, the walk was ok but I wouldn’t really recommend it if I’m honest. Too much walking on the flat, my legs were killing me. The day where we done the most climbing was the easiest on the legs bizarrely enough, lots of variation in the terrain and a bit softer underfoot seemed to help. The WHW is a much better route. Aye mate can’t complain. Hope all is well over your way, bet the summer is really underway now? 18°c here today in Yorkshire 😂. Atb mate 👍
@whatsnottohikeАй бұрын
@@Adventure-Outdoors yeah I always find a bit of variety in the hike is better for the legs than just flat gravel. My mate wants to go to Scotland hiking and camping and I'm trying to find a good one that's not 100's of people. WHW might have to be the one, maybe October time. Summer is pretty much here. Regularly early 20's but getting hotter each day. Off for a hike this Sunday to a place not far away that looks decent and possible wild camp territory as there's a river. I'll probably film it for the channel. ATB mate.

I would love to do something like this. I just need to find someone who I could do it with.
@Adventure-OutdoorsАй бұрын
I wouldn't to this route on my own, it's a bit boring to be honest. The West Highland Way is ideal to do solo though if you can't find anyone to go with, it's a busy route so always lots of people to talk to and the infrastructure along the way is excellent! Cheers 👍
@AScottishOdysseyАй бұрын
@@Adventure-Outdoors Yeah, I would love to do the West Highland Way. The Devil's Staircase would put the fear of god in me. I also want to do the Whithorn Way, which goes from Glasgow Cathedral, to Whithorn.
@malls88612 күн бұрын
@@AScottishOdysseyThe third week of May I did the WHW, 1days R&R in Fort William then the GG camping all the way and carrying my own gear. Please DO NOT be frightened of the Devil’s Staircase. Set your own pace and go your own way. Yes it was a slog, yes I was so pleased to reach the top. Go for it and good luck, oh by the way I was 70 in March. If I can do it so can you.😊

You don't get to tell people how to make their videos unfortunately, if you don't like it, then don't watch. It's as simple as that.
