So with the mini heat wave and last of the summer days I decided to head to the Yorkshire Dales and hike the Herriot Way. It is 52 miles long so I had to complete it between work and had 2 days to get it done. The Yorkshire dales are beautiful and the Herriot Way is a great way to explore and experience the place ☺ #herriotway #thruhiking #hiking#wildcamping #yorkshire Hiking the Herriot Way in 2 Days - Pt.1 ~Solo & Wild Camping along the way | 2023

Nice video. It has the end of summer nostalgia feeling to it. Did you walk you're 100,000 step challenged in one day? That must average 50 miles. This should be easy for you.
@KeiteiVentures Жыл бұрын
The summer is definitely at an end, hopefully autumn will bring some lovely crisp mornings with it :) Yes, I quite enjoyed the 26 daily milage, after walking 50 miles in a day this was welcomed 😁

Hi Keitei, Still listening to LOTR huh, you seem to have been listening to that forever, you will have forgotten the finer detail. I love Reeth, most of the times I’ve been there it has been cold and wet with a potent smell of coal smoke, you got 25 degrees or more, but still had them bloomin midges (or meanbh-chuileag in Tolkien speak). Looking forward to the second part. Cheers Graham
@KeiteiVentures Жыл бұрын
Yep 😁 it is a super long trilogy, I do enjoy watching the extended versions but the book is on a whole different level. Reeth was lovely, I enjoyed my brief venture through there. The Yorkshire dales is a lovely place :)

A trail I will do soon as I love the Yorkshire Dales, I use to camp at Cowgill near Dent in the 70 s .Unfortunately the campsite shut down on the 90s.
@KeiteiVentures Жыл бұрын
Shame the campsite shut down, though I can definitely recommend the Dales way :D top trail. Hope you get good weather when you do hike it 😁

Yo Keitei...catching up again on your awesome hiking! I know of the James Herriot books but never read them. I assume you have read them?? Recommend?? Anyway...I always love your chilled positive energy as you make your way to these various places. I really enjoyed the little snippet of the border collie and the sheep too! Looking forward to part 2....peace!

Hey Mookie, Impressed that you've heard of James Herriot - the country was lovely and I'm glad that I was able to share my adventures. I actually haven't read them but I remember seeing a few of the tv shows about the vet when I was younger. Have a fab week!

Well, I wanted to waiting till part 2 was out but unfortunately I couldn’t resist the urge 😆🤦♂. While you were hiking about I was sat in a tractor cab making hay 😆 love the agricultural naming you did 🤪. Was it me or was there a slight irony of the well being garden next to the cemetery of dead people🤔😆🤦♂

It was a lovely hike, plenty of tractors making the most of the good weather too. 🚜 Haha at least the Garde was nice and peaceful 😀 Pt.2 will be out soon 👍

River Ure pronounced 'You-er' rhymes with sewer. Wensleydale being the only the only one of the Yorkshire dales not named after it's river! 🙂

Top trivia, thank you for the pronunciation. Good to know 😃 Is a stunning place :)

Great video. I'm doing this walk over 2 days in 3 weeks time with a couple of friends. We're staying at the YHA at Grinton for the halfway overnight. Which day did you find the most difficult?
@KeiteiVentures6 ай бұрын
Ah cool! It is a great hike to do. I think both days had elements of difficulty but for me, I think the first day - Reeth towards Hawes via Great Shunner Fell - that was the hardest part in the heat but did give amazing views. Should also mention that I took the lower route that day and followed the river which was easier than the hill route. The second day had it's fair share of hills and moor sections which seemed to go on. Hope that helps :) enjoy your hike!

I admire your free enthusiastic spirit. Nothing seems to phase you. I’m interested in what your relationship status is? Only because I am married with two teenage daughters and I find it difficult to be away from them for any length of time (multi day trips). We have had so many hiking adventures as a family and just my wife and I, I want to do solo trips but would miss sharing the experience with them? Hope you get what I’m saying & I would be interested on your take on this? 😊 My wife encourages me to go on my own but somehow it doesn’t feel right?
@KeiteiVentures6 ай бұрын
Hi there, yep no problama :) I am in a relationship and can see both sides of the dilemma. I would say it might help if you built up to the longer solo trips. It's great that you have adventures with your family but it's also great to go on solo ventures too. If you really enjoy a place on your lone trips you could always return with your family and share the new location with them? :) I go on hiking trips with my partner and also travel solo too. Hope that helps, good luck~!
