I come here for leather and boot content. The hiking was a nice change of scenery. Thanks Dale!

You're one of my favorite KZbin personalities. Just good old fashioned vlogging about you're interests. I love conspiracies and boots as well. I think bigfoot would need a PNW brand in a size 22 triple F width. And just FYI, I would still watch your videos if boots never came up. I think we tune in more for the personalities than the topics, so you could probably make videos about anything you want.

Firstly this is not meant as a criticism of the video which is a nice change and it's always good to see spectacular scenery. And I'm not taking away from the effort required to hike five thousand feet at altitude. However easy underfoot conditions like that trail could be done in trainers and I've certainly done far harder trails (broken rocks, stream crossings, thick mud) and also descended steep scree slopes, in beefed up trainers and "approach shoes". And I'm the very opposite of a lightweight mountain goat. So, from what I can see I'd except any boot to handle that trail easily. Consider taking the Grant Stones off trail and maybe across steep slopes with sodden wet, broken ground as that's the sort of ground you'd expect real hiking boots to cope with and would be a proper test of what they can do.

Great video! Enjoyed hearing your discussion of diet. I've been gravitating toward a more protein diet myself, along with exercise, and have lost weight gradually. I've been trying to eat mostly plant proteins. I also use a Fitbit and keep a food diary, which helps keep me on track. I'd love to put my Grant Stone field boots to the test like this. Maybe one day.

Great video Dale! Last week I took my Grant Stone Ottawa boots (unconventional I know) on a hiking trip in the PNW and they were great but I like your recommendation about the wedge soled boots so I will try that next.

Cool on showing everything on the trail and your thoughts Dale! One thing I respect is how you size your boots! Too many people who like that snug fit find out the hard way they needed an extra half a size to make the boot work for hiking. Jabbing your toes otherwise is a nightmare scenario. It's nice to see the Field Boots in action! Since they were modeled after that old 1950's style outdoor boot and you get to use them purpose built. I've considered getting some Jim Greens customized to be lightweight for exactly that same reason. Maybe next year? Also nice to hear about your perspectives on weight loss and other outside interests. I will say traveling abroad can make it easier. Last time when I went overseas in two weeks I lost 20 lbs.

Great to see the boots actually working hard ( and you too! ) There’s a lot of products out there on KZbin that get great detailed reviews but not a lot of action and working tests. Love it that you tested the GS’s well. Personally, I smash my iron rangers and parkhursts most days. They look great and just perform to spec. Wonderful !

As a man who is permanently bearded, my advice, which is according to my aesthetic judgment, is that a man should never mess with the natural lines of his beard, not for any reason ever. The further up your cheeks and down your neck your beard goes, the stronger and more rugged it'll look when it's grown in. All you really need to do to maintain a beard is brush it every morning with a boar bristle brush, oil it or put lotion in it, and trim your moustache by cutting a straight line from one corner of your mouth to the other with scissors. Grow it out a few inches long too, looks way better than a short beard. It'd be so nice to have a place like that near to your home. It'd make it easy to stay fit, just walk up and down every day, simple.

I’m using transparent labs isolated protein powder. Super easy on my stomach. I may add real unsweetened Cocoa powder and or powdered peanut butter with zero sugar. The struggle is real. If you go vegetarian or Mediterranean they’ve found chronic diseases disappear. Look into c:15, I prefer the fatty 15 brand.

Appreciate the video Dale. Just wanted to point out that essential aminos are not actually zero calorie. They contain 4 calories per gram, the same as protein. Supplement companies are able to get away with shenanigans on the label due to spotty regulation. A quality whey protein will be more effective at stimulating muscle protein synthesis and providing the necessary building blocks. Casein can be more useful in some cases where you want to slow digestion and allow more time for absorption. What matters most is total caloric intake. If you consume excess calories, your body will store excess energy as fat, regardless of where it comes from. If you are in a caloric deficit and are physically active, you will not convert protein to fat. Always happy to talk more about fitness, it is my main passion in my personal life.

When your title says unhinged rant, I was expecting you to just start screaming "look, it's a pair of future truman boot" at the deer and chase after it with a deranged smile. I am not sure if I am relieved or disappointed you turned out normal. I am also heavily brain rotted On dieting, I've been adamant that weight loss shouldn't be about cutting out eating, although my stance changes when it comes to easier sources of sugars like sodas and candy bars. My personal experience has always been that if I do a calorie deficit without affecting the frequency of which I eat, I lose weight, if I do it with regimented exercise, I lose fat. If you can't be bothered to count your calories in depth, I found that cutting out processed carbs, candy and soda and replacing them with virtually anything less processed works for the first 20-30% of your weight loss journey. You can get excited about you losing weight and start counting calories better after that.
