We did not get a permit for Coyote Buttes North - The Wave 😭😭 But, we were able to get permits for Coyote Buttes South 😎 , super crazy rock formations all over the place and we had the whole place to ourselves 👍 The drive in and out Cottonwood Cove TH could be tricky, as there is tons of deep sand

Hello Good Folks. A small point of clarification: 1) The world-wide lottery is done online a full 4 months in advance for a given day. So, winners have time to plan their travel. Today, you could enter for January 2024. Up to 48 Permits can be issued this way for a given day. 2) As of Spring 2022, the "local" lottery, where you had to be in the BLM office in Kanab, Utah to enter a lottery for "the next day" was expanded using "geofencing" technology. Since then, you (or I guess your device) can be anywhere between Kanab and Page, Arizona (i.e., the geofence) to try for a Permit. If your name is drawn your Permit is for 2 days later (instead of the very next day) giving you time to plan and drive to the trailhead. Up to 16 Permits for a given day can be issued this way. I understand it's working well. Hope this (too long) note helps. Peace...

Omg!! So happy to see you finally got to visit The Wave!! 🥳🎉 And it looks like you had the place almost to yourself, that’s super cool 😎 I am going to try my luck end of next month at the daily lottery, hopefully I’ll get lucky 🤞 The part that is not cool, is that now you have to apply for the daily lottery 2 days in advance and be in the area to do so 😕 Happy Birthday !! 🎂🎊🎈🥳👍

Patience pays off. When I lived in Page I hiked the Wave when the government went into furlough. Thanks for sharing. Definitely easy to get lost up there, few years ago a couple died cause they got lost.

Was that on covid? I heard the parks were left open. I wish I knew it that time I would have visited many places. I could imagine because there are no trails around. I wonder if they have a permit because they could have warned about the trail and could have gotten a map at Kanab whenever they get their permit.

@@sunkissedmary might've been like 5 or so years ago when the government shutdown. So many places are too crowded now, like Horseshoe Bend and even Zion National Park.

@@kyklain86 I know, sometimes I get lucky to go to popular places and then there's nobody around. I think we need to promote more on how to take care of these places so people will learn not to trash things. It annoys me whenever I hear a place that closes because it's being trashed.
