I am surprised you have never heard of people debating this subject. There are books and videos that speak on both sides of this issue. The reason it is considered an issue is because animals have been experimented on and there is also an issue with cruelty to pets that are stolen for their meat or fur. I am shocked you have not heard that there are indeed people and businesses out there that claim animals do not feel emotional pain the way humans do.

Funny story. So, I live right by the bay in a small town. I have a pit mix, military trained dog named Cash(Johnny) I take him to the water every saturday. One day, we were there hanging out when suddenly he rushed out of the water and got in the car. Now....Cash is a fish....he would never ever eeeeever do this! Once he's in the water, he's like your dog. He doesn't wanna leave. Naturally I was worried so I followed him and looked him over. On his rump, right below his tail, he was missing just a tiny bit of fur. and the spot was swollen and red. I freaked out and went to search the water. What I found, was a friggen crab............with just a few strands of his fur left in the pinscher...................my dog....my big tough manly badass military dog....got scared off by a crab. Ninja wasn't mad about leaving the beach. Ninja was trying to inform the American people about global warming and how the sea levels are rising.
