There are all kinds of options when it comes to ink for your Canon Pro 100. I cover all the options and my experience with each in this video. Obviously the OEM Genuine ink from Canon is the highest quality and easiest route, but you certainly pay for it in price. You could go with the very affordable 3rd party ink cartridges, but you pay for it with longevity of prints. Then you have the options of refilling cartridges or a CISS but those have their own benefits and drawbacks. There's no clear cut answer, it really depends on what you are printing, how long you want it to last and of course your budget for the print job at hand. Overall though, the Canon Pro 100 is so far my favorite printer to work with, because it just works so well!

I have been using the canon pro 100 for well over 7 year have been printing on a daily base . When you tried to swap from oem to Third-party Inc. when you use a oem cartridge and try to fill them with third party ink will screw up your print head . Being the oem ink Cartage will react with the ink causing the sponge in the cartridge too hard and like plastic and plug up your print head . But if you start with third party ink in a new printed and use third-party Inc. it works very well as long as there’s no MEO ink in the printhead to prevent any contamination .

Great video and very informative! I've been printing professionally for about three years now with my Pro 9000 mkII and my customers are always in awe. But with ink prices continuously increasing, my prices go up and people tend to go to big box stores instead. I'll give a try to refilling! Also, I wish my city offered money back for cartridges. Everyone just throws them away :(

On my Pro 100, I have tryed diferent inks, and I found that with all time spend, and foto paper prices, I will not use cheap third party inks, the PC, and Octoinks UK. I found ok.

Funny enough, my Canon pro pixma wont take orginal ink to print. It cant read it og cant recognize it. Instead I now use Third party ink, and now All is good

I was accidentally ripping ppl off selling them art prints using the generic ink sets, i did a longevity test on 10 prints and most of them faded within 2 months. Nowadays I use a hybrid of OEM and third party, usually i'll do 4 OEM & 4 generic tanks. The quality is good and the longevity is much longer, some prints started fading after 6 months, others are still going strong after a year using my OEM & generic batch. Price per print is way cheaper though i've heard you shouldn't mix OEM & third party ink but so far everything's fine.

Iv heard only good things about precision colors ink. Have you noticed prints made with that fading quickly? That's my only concern. I figure if you varnish the print with a spray or frame it (or both ) that prints using precision colors ink would hold up

I know people stress the OEM cartridges, but I've always bought my third party cartridges from Inkproducts and the sponges have always held ink well. Been using them for years. You put just a bit in the reserve tank first and let it take that ink into the sponge, then you fill the reserve tank up. Keeps the sponge saturated. It doesn't work as well if you try to just completely fill the reserve tank in one swoop. That's been my experience anyway, but never heard anyone else use or comment on these carts.

I'm confused, he keeps referring to OEM inks, I think he's meaning Canon mftrfd inks. But OEM actually means Other End Manufacturer, which is manufacturers that are not canon, or am I wrong. I would like clarification so I purchase the correct product??

OEM means: original equipment manufacturer, in this case Canon Inks are OEM.

Does your same advice hold true on ink for these printers as well?
