Hi Jose, I only recently started watching and following your channel. I started looking for a printer after getting rid of my old Canon all-in-one but didn't want to spend constantly on cartridges. I was eyeing the Epson EcoTank line, but none did 13x19 except the ET-16500, but at $700. So then I looked at the Epson XP-15000 but those have single use chips only, but was willing to compromise. I'm a Sony photographer so for some reason i wasn't really looking at Canon printers till I saw your videos. Today I saw a Canon Pro 100 listed on FB market for a REALLY cheap price. I was skeptical at first but I said eff it, i'll meet up with the guy. He put me at ease and showed me his print business and seem legit. So now I'm the proud owner of a Canon PRO 100 that I purchased for the low price of $60. Yes, $60! I already printed out some test photos on some Epson Premium Matte paper I had already, and I'm already super impressed. Can't wait to get some actual photo paper, glossy and metallic to do more prints, and also order a refill kit. Thank you for your videos and all the knowledge you share. This has definitely reinvigorated my passion for photography now that I can have something tangible.

First, I would like to say thank you for your very helpful videos. I refilled all my Pixma Pro 100 ink cartridges the first time with no problem. The second time around, my chip resetter appears to not be working. Is there a way to get the printer to print without a 2nd reset until my next resetter can be ordered? When I re-insert the cartridge, the light is flashing and it will not print. Precision Colors is on vacation and not shipping until later this month. Help please?

Hi I have a Canon pro 100 and just today it failed on me and i herd a snap coming from the printer and it had the middle button blinking like for the paper feed thing...when I opened it to see inside i noticed there was a long clear plastic thing hanging off but it don't look ripped just like if it came off of something and it has a rectangle notch on the plastic clear long strip but I do not know where it goes attached... would you happen to know how to fix it or where it goes?
@cheo19494 жыл бұрын
If it is about 3/16" wide and the length of the print head travel it is the decoder strip. It is held by springs on either end and is threaded through a sensor behind the Print Head assembly. If it is just detached and I don't know why that would ever happen you can reattach it CAREFULLY. But if it no longer attached to the print head carriage then it is a no go. You will have to have it serviced.

Jose I must say your Channel is outstanding! With your knowledge my prints have gotten better and better. Is it ever time you refill? As I am looking into getting Richards already done cartridges. And purchasing the ink thru PC.. thanks buddy
@cheo19494 жыл бұрын
You can do one at a time. You will get a replacement flushed cart for the yellow. You will remove that chip and replace with your yellow chip. You do not flush any of you carts when you refill from now on. Keep in mind you only have a few minutes to do any of this once you open the printer lid and the printhead moves to the center.

Joe, after watching your videos and talking to Mike at Precision colors, I have flushed and dried all my empty OEM carts for the Pro 100. I want to ask you how exactly to store these empty carts. I planned on filling them with ink as OEM's go low since this is transition period. So, question 1: after flush and dry (using digital scale), should I store the emptied and clean carts without top plugs and bottom clip? question 2: re. the PC refill bottles (2 oz bottles), I wonder where and how to store them so as not contaminate them. I currently have them in dark closet in a tupperware container. I live in Florida...lots of humidy. Should I store these bottles in the refrigerator? Finally, when I get to the point where I have a complete backup of PC carts (8) filled and waiting, should I store those in the refrigerator. I guess I am concerned now re. expiration of inks and effect of florida humidity. thanks!

Hi Jose! I am wondering are the precision inks considered archival quality like Canon's? They promise 100+ years if used with good photo paper. Thanks for your videos I'm getting started with a pro 100 now!
@cheo19494 жыл бұрын
No 3rd party inks are archival. Even OEM. How long is archival anyway? Paper coating. Paper base material. Paper Ph. Display conditions. Levels of UV. Levels of Ozone. Humidity. Temperature. Physical handling. To name a few of the factors that affect longevity. Multiply them together and you have a multitude of conditions that will all have a effect on print longevity.

Stoked! Just ordered a set of refill kit from precission colors. Do I understand it correctly that it is safe to top up original colors (except the yellow) with replacement ink? Or should I let them fully run out of ink before filling up?

Mod Reset Top Off when low. Never empty. You want to reduce ANY amount of air from migrating into the sponge. It will reduce ink infiltration into it as you refill.

Jose, just going through my initial set of OEM cartridges now but I'm seriously considering following your directions and refilling my used up OEM cartridges in the future. Question I have is regarding the yellow cartridge. If I follow all your directions for flushing, resetting and refilling and use the refilled cartridges for a time, is there any danger of nozzle plugging in the printer if I at some point go back to using a brand new Yellow Canon OEM cartridge? Thanks for your reply. Jim
@cheo19494 жыл бұрын
Yes. Make a choice and stick with it. If you still want to use OEM Yellow always then you can simply run one cleaning cycle and you'll be fine. I would not be switching back and forth.

Thanks for another very informative video. If I may add a comment for your British and European viewers, Mr Johnston, as a rule, does not ship to the UK (although he did offer to ship me some plugs) on a one time basis. I believe Octoinkjet.co.uk can supply genuine modified cartridges also genuine modified cartridges filled with their ink. Just one thing, I believe they use tapered plugs and do not drill the seats out. I have no commercial relationship with Octoinkjet.
@cheo19494 жыл бұрын
Tapered pugs can and do slip back into once they become wet. Drilling the seat and forcing the straight sided plug will produce the seal you need. I can see and undrilled plug hole slowly causing a leak out. Because the plug just sits there. For perfect seal It need to be forced beyond the seat. It compresses tightly against it and the part of the plug that passes past the seat re expands creating that perfect seal. Fell free to use those but I wouldn't. Not worth it just to eliminate the drilling out of the seat. I believe on doing this correctly the first time.
