Hi Hilton. As I mentioned on one of your other videos, I didn't know you were back and with a new X260 Jag. I upgraded my X250 to a 2018 X260 2.0D R-Sport a few months ago. I love the car but like you, I feel there are one or two things that could be better. Of most anoyance to me is the klunky head unit so I can't wait to see how you get on with the Android replacement. If it works for you i'll be ordering one up right away. I did look at some options a while back that had clear problems such as not using the OEM radio/GSM/GPS antenae or the built in microphone for the handsfree etc. The Kanor model you're looking at looks much better though. Can wait to see how you get on with it. Cheers.

Some cool and interesting mods, not sure about the vinyl wrap, (watch those bubbles), I've put the exact same aluminum pedals on, it took less than 5 mins :). Never even thought of a key ring holder to protect the keys, I'll def get one of those myself. Looking forward to your upgrade videos now lol :)

I did the pedals this morning. It took less than two minutes. The wrap won't be a problem. I did it on a VW Jetta a few years back and it looked great. Just need to use soap water and a credit card to get rid of bubbles and a heat gun for the corners and edges. 😊

Looking forward to your Vinyl Wrap, (No pressure lol) I know your not fussed about the footwell lights but I got these: T10 501 W5W CAR SIDE LIGHT BULB ERROR FREE CANBUS 5 9 13 SMD LED XENON BLUE UK off ebay, and they are a quick fit too, just pull out your old bulb and just push these in, admittedly you have to be a bit of a contortionist to see them but it does look cool, opening your doors to see the foot-wells bathed in a blue glow. :)

Thanks for the tip Simon, I have been planning on changing those to blue. One can use any T10 bulb though because the canbus only checks exterior bulbs for outtages ;-) And they do look really nice.

You need to check your trunk. If you have two levers that you are able to pull, you pull on them but have to literally climb in the trunk and push the seat forward while pulling the lever. I'll be doing a video on this very soon 😉. You won't believe how many people ask me how to fold the seats down.

Hi Hilton. As per the other comments, I can echo my excitement for seeing all the mods and tweaks you have in store for the future. It’s lovely to know that you are taking some of the precious ones from your last XF. I have an XF ‘14 portfolio in dark grey, it came with a lovely grey wood-effect trim inside the car. Your choice of wood effect will be look great. Are you going for a boot/trunk liner and mirror-enclosed Dashcam too? How about all the cup/handle areas - do you plan to purchase liners as before

Hey Will. I absolutely plan on fitting a OEM style dashcam. In fact, I've ordered it already together with an HD rear camera and will be doing an install video on that. I didn't feature it here as it is more a safety item than an upgrade. I have searched for storage liners for this XF but none are available. The little cargo net is on order for the trunk and as time goes on I'll be adding more accessories that measure up to the standard. Stay tuned 😉

Interesting selection, I have a 18' F-Pace and I've done almost every one. A tough one is the Ambient lighting but I totally agree. Having a prestige model myself it's easy to get the lights to work, but you want to wire into the existing controller for your current ambient lighting stalk, then it's perfect.otherwise you'll have to manually turn on. I would also suggest some illuminated treadplates, as the wiring for the treadplates is actually already right there. I ended up making a metal pair myself and they came out perfect, better than the $1100 Jaguar charges. It cost me about $50 for the steel and the EL lighting and inverter i got off Ali for $20.

Thanks for the tips Tim - I will be looking to see if I can wire the ambient lighting to one master wire connected to the dimmer switch in the dash - that way I can dim the ambient lights along with all the other lights - still gotta take a look at the switch though to see how to wire it up. I'm not too bothered about treadplates though, one only sees that when you open the door and then it's gone. I'll be focusing on upgrades that I'll be interacting with and seeing all the time and that others can see most of the time ;-)

@Hilton you can wire some EL tube to co exist with the others but you'll have to get the exact same "phosphorous blue" and stop and start it in the spots you want underneath switches and levers (that the higher trim models have). This will be exceedingly difficult for anyone but especially someone who hasn't done it. The risk is that it'll look cheap, and it always looks cheap and thereby 'tacky'. Per the treadplates, on the contrary. When you enter the car it's the first impression and first thing you see, as it looks very premium and due to the fact the wiring is already there and will turn on/off in conjunction with the door, I feel like it's a no brainer. I have had lots of compliments on in, and it looks OEM more or less. With the mods you like to do I would seriously reconsider. This mod can be done for quite cheap and easy and you just pull the tread panel.

Do you plan on doing anything like those door ghost / puddle logo lights ? The ones that when you open the door you get an image on the floor. I was hoping you might at some stage as I think like me you dont have any kind of light in the door and would need to run wires etc , so I could have followed along lol

Hey there, no. I planned on doing it with my previous XF but the complexity was too much so I decided the results didn't warrant the effort. I don't drive much at night so the amount of times I'd actually see those lights would be minimal. I'd prefer the lighting where I can see it while I drive all the time 😉.

I prefer the piano black to the wood option. Have you thought about carbon wrap or even something like jaguars satin grey figured ebony veneer or or satin fine line wood veneer that they offer as an option in the build?

I've had a good look at the wood options they offer on the XF and I'm not particularly taken by any of them, which is probably why my car was built with piano veneer to begin with. I did a trial run on the gearshift surround with a bit of left over teak wrap that I had from a previous project and it looked awesome, so I have no doubt when I do the actual job that it's going to come out looking beautiful.

yeah, me too. I'm surprised it hasn't got a lot of stuff like InControl Apps as standard and ambient lighting as standard. The InControl Apps would have ensured the screen interface didn't date as quickly as it is.

I don't know if you get the tv prog wheeler dealer's in sa but they had their range rovertrim covered in a carbon fibre finish, they took it to a specialist who floated the effect on the trim in a tank of water to watch it was unbelievable they do all sorts of effect including wood. someone in sa must do it and it would be a much better finish. the prog might be on you tube

Hey Richie, unfortunately the new head unit won't support remote start. Jaguar's blurb is very specific about that feature and that it can only be fitted when ordered with the car as new. My guess is because the convenience control module has to be replaced with a bunch of looms. My car doesn't even have basic Incontrol Apps, which all XF's should come with as standard. The Android head unit is mainly to give you the convenience of having full Android in your car with access to all the apps in PlayStore while still keeping the functionality of your cameras, & steering wheel control.

Forget the wood wrap. Have the items hydrodipped in a wood finish look. Much more hard wearing and much better looking. Be very careful changing the centre screen and getting it to work with the Meridian system because it’s not standard wiring

Hey Craig, I'd love to do that, but none of the manufacturers in SA offer this to the public. I'm aware of the canbus cable into the back of the screen and am currently doing research on these AliExpress head units mainly for durability and also how they connect to the Jag - they claim its plug n' play, but they must prove it to me first. I haven't seen any evidence of this yet, so that's why I said it will be quite a few months before I attempt this job - if it's plug n' play, well then it will take me about an hour to do it.

Thanks Jeff - it's easy taking a dash apart. I did it on my Mazda CX-5 and also my old Audi A4 - too the entire dash out the car to change the heater core - not a job for the faint-hearted though. Unfortunately, they don't make these pedals for the X250 XF. That's why I never did my old XF's pedals - just the foot rest which was part of a pedal set. Thanks for watching ;)

After considering the cost of upgrading the satnav, I put it off for now. If I decide to keep it for at least 4 more years I might go ahead and do it. To get the instrument cluster out you need to remove the dash parts at the bottom of it. There are screws underneath that need to be loosened and then they clip off. That will reveal the screws holding the cluster in place 😉

@@afifelbaba5535 you can't program the key yourself, it must be done using OBDII software. There's usually two options, programming a single proximity key fob and programming the transponder. Programming the transponder is only if you have two brand new keys to program to the car.

If I recall correctly there are a number of challenges changing the infotainment system so please do thorough research. Additionally you will also find various folk who can help with the foot rest. I found a company that produces the Android replacement specifically for XF, XE and F-Pace. It's plug and play basically and all it requires is an external GPS antenna as it doesn't use the car's one to be plugged into the new unit.

The cheaper one's are usually not - I'd rather pay extract for a play and play unit than struggle with wiring. The job of installing it alone is quite a big task.
