This group rocked, there's no denying it. The writing, the arrangements, the lead singing of Mark - who is without a doubt in my mind one of the finest rock voices ever... They were just a very underrated band probably due to the costumes and on-stage antics, but if you listen to their catalogue, you'll agree that their music ranks right up there with anything that was produced back then - or even now.

But the definition of a manufactured group is a group who's members were brought together by a record company (or TV network) who had not played together before. One of their better numbers. In spite of their popularity, I never cared for much of their output. And I was in Lake Geneva, WI when they walked out on a highly publicized Labor Day gig at a ski resort. They pulled out in their bus just as hundreds of youths began lining up, throwing the whole town up for grabs by their action. Am I the only one who doesn't think Mark Lindsay, good looks aside, is a very good singer? And now that Paul Revere has passed away, I'm informed that a group is performing as "Paul Revere's Raiders." No original members, I presume, though the group that appeared regularly on Dick Clark's Where the Action Is tv show were not the original lineup. Pretty much a forgotten minor hit, their first chart success was an instrumental titled Like Longhair. A pre-British Invasion release, the title referred to the long hair or wigs of classical composers like Mozart and Beethoven.

I find it funny how people complain about all the lip-synching going on in the present days. There are no amplifiers, no mics on the drums, no cables coming from the guitar or bass (this was before they had wireless packs for guitars), no stage monitors and at about 1:34 the drummer stops playing yet you can clearly hear the cross stick (or rim click as it is sometimes known) on the snare drum. So in other words lip-synching or in this case instrument-synching has been going on for a long time. By the way I owned at least one Paul Revere and the Raiders albums back in the '60s so not picking on them.

Hello, All. I play these tunes when I want to be reminded of a time when our society was far more civil, more relaxed & more accepting of each other ("do your own thing"). Virtually no precious time was wasted calling each other ugly names & pointing politically correct fingers. 60's lyrics encouraged respect for ALL human beings. My husband & I made sure our children grew up hearing these 60's pop, folk & folk-rock classics with their feel good, optimistic sound. Maybe, if more parents follow suit, we, as a nation, could get back there again. Peace.

The energy, arrangement, singing and playing in this song are amazing. If this were a cut from a Beatles album like Revolver, it would fit in nicely. It is that damn good. Raiders were a partial answer to the British invasion, no doubt.

I love the way that Freddy Weller on lead guitar and Charlie Coe on bass are dancing to the music. Joe Corero, Jr., is the drummer. This was after Phil "Fang" Volk, Mike "Smitty" Smith, Drake Levin, and Jim "Harpo" Valley had left the group.

PR & the R always had the best outfits of any 1960s band.

I thought Paul Revere & the Raiders were going to replace the Beatles bc they were so popular at our High School back in 1966.

and then The Monkees sneaked in. I am 10 years younger and I thought the 70s were great for music I can just imagine the 60s, hearing one great song after another. :-)

How on God's green earth is Paul Revere and the Raiders not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Rappers. folkies, and so many one hit people are in but not them. That's a disgrace.
