There are so many things that we don’t understand. But when the spiritual starts entering into the scientific, that’s when the shit starts flying. Because some of it gets debunked. Take it down your local University and get them to monitor it with a Mass Spectrometer and you will see........nothing. It's a placebo unfortunately since it doesn't actually produce any ions and is the wrong kind of crystal to do that. That's okay though, placebos can cause real physiological changes and the warm glow might help you relax and sleep better. Veritasium has a very interesting video on them.

well of COURSE any MD is going to debunk this; but look at all the comments below about how it HELPED people! my hubby was quite sick with that THING last spring, and when i used salted water in a steam mist inhaler for him, it quickly broke down the mucus and dispelled his constant cough dramatically, so i have no doubt a salted lamp (dont know about any negative ions etc) would no doubt benefit anyone if theyre close enough to it long enough.

I think they "debunked" it because of the ion thing. Salt lamps do not create ions, they would need a huge amount of heat to achieve this, and a light bulb is orders of magnitude too weak. They should have specified more though because the light it produces is very calming and creates a nice environment, I loved the one I had

Correct: This will not detox your environment. However, this will make you feel more relaxed and should enable you to sleep better as the colour of light emitted from this lamp is shifted towards the red end of the visible spectrum, hence it psychologically prepares you for sleep. Think of "night shift" mode on apple MacBooks (turns background light from blue to red), same principle.

So the ion thing isn't true, but the light 100% is true. Theres a lot to be said about perception and the effect on the human body, good or bad, depending on your environment

From my experience, as a born asthmatic now 34y/o taking maintenance meds, when i tried using this salt lamp it actually helped me with my breathing somehow, i would feel that mucus comes out easily.

one of my friend son got asthma problem since years , somebody told him to use Himalayan salt lamp in his room daily 24/7 , after 1 month of this session his son stopped using asthma inhaler and after 2 month his asthma got vanish . Now he is normal as he never had asthma in his life

There is no cure for asthma. Although some people have asthma since they were born, and it will go away later in their life. There are also circumstances where most people get asthma when they are adults. I know this because I had it since I was born, and my siblings have it, but it went away when they hit puberty. I was the only one left in my family that still get asthma attacks. But, good on your friend's son. He might have a strong immune system.

The way to make you feel better is that it relaxes you due to having a low light and the warm glow, that's it, it would have the same effect from any low light lamp giving off the same glow

I have a few ambient lights in my room, mostly blue or green colors. But when I got one of these, it emits a very “warm” glow and makes me feel really peaceful when I am falling asleep at night. Not sure about the air but anything past making me feel safe is just an added bonus!

The Himalayan's do not have salt. 100% of the salt is harvested elsewhere and 98% of the time the "pink" is due to iron oxide otherwise know as rust. But enjoy your rust salt from the salt less Himalayan's .

What they don't tell you, if your in the wrong environment, if it's warm and moisture is in the air, say from a human body, the salt will devolve over time if its not maintained such as keeping it on for hours each day. Also DON'T LEAVE IT ON OR NEAR ANYTHING ELECTRIC OR ON BOOKS OR PAPER, stand it in a dish and away from anything else.

I suspected as much but I guess when it comes to sleep, it should help a little due to the warm soothing light of a warm glow to help your eyes get ready for sleep. Kind of like night shift if you have an iPhone to reduce blue light since that light gets us more active and energetic
