Western notions of religion are often geared towards monotheism. In comparison Hinduism, with its startling array of deities, can appear primitive and chaotic.
This video explains how the different Gods and Goddesses are reflective of the infinite nature of God.
Each deity is an attribute and a powerful portal for one to connect to the supreme reality.
The different masters throughout history have demonstrated that deity worship achieves the ultimate goal of Yoga, which is to steady the mind and realise our true relationship with the Divine.

Hello William.. there is no way to becoming Hindu except by living the principles.. No conversions of name, of place of worship etc.. From Hindu perspective this is true for al religions. For example a tribal person in a remote corner of the world who does not know any religion, when he loves and cares for people around him, he is then following the word of Christ - Love thy neighbour. So he may not be a Christian as understood by the world, but he is following the word of Christ. Being Hindu is how you approach life, rather than by changing name and clothes.. and i feel in that sense you may already be a Hindu in spirit! :)

In monothetic religion there are many names and dominant charactersistics of God. In Islam there are 99 names of God one of which is AHAD which means one and there is one God. In Hinduism every (religious) God has its own identity and history. Also why do you compare God's figure with animals and humans? Why is God identical to life when he is creator of life in Hinduism? Also why do you worship idols. Will God be pleased if you bathe a mud sculpture with milk or will he be pleased if you feed that milk to someone let's say a poor child?

Yes. Absolute in hinduism is approached in a multitude of ways. As Objective reality, the One Absolute, or Brahman, is unseen and beyond space and time. But the subjective manifestations of the Absolute, referring to the myriad of symbolic representations symbolising the qualities of the Absolute, are infinite. For example, the number 1 represents a quantity that is immaterial, but is represented as a symbol "1". Thats how flexible the hindu theology is.

WOWWW this is so good. So obviously, I am a Roman Catholic Christian and as a Christian, I tend to overlook hinduism because they worship many Gods. But as what you say, It is the "bhava" who dictates which form of God is acceptable for our own needs. There is only one God and in Hinduism, the God can be depicted in million ways. God has given everyone complete freedom, You can believe in any god you prefer, or not believe in God at all, some believe in humanity as god, but in the end you will become what you believe, if you study science you'll become scientists not a lawyer so whatever you believe you will be a part of those beliefs and as years roll on you become one with that. and about that if you believe to do evil things you will become evil, so as you might know what happens to all evils, they get destroyed by their sins. In Hinduism, we believe, all that we do good or evil, will not end with the end of this life, it will be attached to soul and you will get your reward for all your doings accordingly to your doings, in this life or next or after that, but you'll get what you deserve, if you want good than do good practices and avoid all wrong at any cost. In Hinduism we believe among all living beings only human alone is capable of getting close to god or getting further away from god, and it depends on how you live in this life and this life will decide your next life i.e. you deserve to be a human or not? You will get what you do how much you do accordingly. So be kind to everyone, and all, even animals live for themselves, then we are humans, we can understand everything, we can do what animals can't so why end up doing and living like them, i.e. just for ourselves and our family alone, there millions of people in need, we can at least help one of them even of it's once in a lifetime, so do things not just for yourself but for others as well, we get the Greatest happiness in life when we do great things for others.

In Hinduism there is only one God the supreme Brahman (om) all pervading omnipresent pure consciuosness which has no name or form but worship him in different forms. Not many gods but one God (Brahman )in different forms.
