From seeing what my mother has gone through over the past 28 years shows me that doctors don’t have a solution to the problems, they just let’s try this and when it doesn’t work they guess about what they can try next. Not shots, spinal nerve stimulators, meds, surgery or PT have helped. I’m convinced it’s her high sugar/carbohydrate diet and no exercise mixed with old age but she only listens to a MD who just push meds or another procedure. It’s so hard seeing her in pain.

It’s excruciatingly painful. I was told by my doctor to do water therapy.
@MedicalCentric Жыл бұрын
Water therapy can be an effective approach to manage hip bursitis, as the buoyancy of water reduces the impact on your hip joint, making it a gentle and low-impact way to improve mobility and alleviate pain. Exercising in a pool, under the guidance of a physical therapist or healthcare professional, can help strengthen the muscles around the hip joint and enhance your range of motion. It's essential to follow your doctor's recommendations and work with a qualified therapist to ensure you're doing the right exercises at the appropriate intensity for your condition.

can bursitis last 15 years ? i have this symptoms and doctors just want hip replacement with no other option and they never offer me MRI only x rays and they see my arthritis sometimes the pain go away for a week and then come back
@MedicalCentric2 ай бұрын
@miguelena40 Chronic bursitis can persist for years, especially if the underlying cause isn’t fully addressed, but 15 years is unusually long. If your pain fluctuates and doctors only rely on X-rays, it might be worth advocating for an MRI to get a clearer picture of soft tissue and surrounding structures. Consider seeking a second opinion to explore non-surgical options like physical therapy, injections, or other conservative treatments before committing to hip replacement. Stay persistent with your health care!

Thyroid disease is a cause? What type - underactive or overactive?
@rockystelone216 ай бұрын
I have under active thyroid which may cause joints issues....ouch
@MedicalCentric20 күн бұрын
@essanjay8604 Yes, both underactive (hypothyroidism) and overactive (hyperthyroidism) thyroid conditions can influence various health issues, though they manifest differently. Hypothyroidism, or an underactive thyroid, often causes fatigue, weight gain, and depression, while hyperthyroidism, or an overactive thyroid, can lead to anxiety, weight loss, and palpitations. Both types impact metabolism and other bodily functions, so managing thyroid levels through regular testing and appropriate treatment is key to reducing symptoms and related health risks.

Mine I figured out is from salt intake. My hip and knee have killed me for years. Cut back on the salt all better. Salt swells and inflames the sacs.
@MedicalCentric2 ай бұрын
@texasforever3.025 It’s great that you figured out the connection between your salt intake and joint pain! Excess salt can cause water retention, leading to inflammation and swelling, which might explain the discomfort in your hip and knee. Reducing salt can have a positive impact on your overall health, especially when it comes to managing inflammation. It’s amazing how small changes in diet can make such a big difference! Keep taking care of yourself.

@MedicalCentric2 ай бұрын
@marymorgan1641 Hip bursitis can indeed cause intense pain, especially during movement or when lying on the affected side. It occurs when the bursae, small fluid-filled sacs that cushion the hip joint, become inflamed. Rest, ice, and anti-inflammatory medications can help, but if the pain persists, it's important to consult a doctor for further treatment like physical therapy or injections. Hang in there, and hopefully, you'll find some relief soon! 🏴

@sherrid5315 You're right-hip bursitis can sometimes occur after a hip replacement due to inflammation around the new joint. It's often an overlooked complication. Managing it involves rest, physical therapy, and sometimes anti-inflammatory medications.
