So some info about sublime. The original singer passed away, and before he passed, he brought a baby boy into this world. The band members always kept the son around and he got involved in music, forming his own band. Eventually, he joined sublime in place of his father and he truly sounds extremely similar to his father, and I really really want to see sublime in concert. I think they are truly amazing and his son is outstanding

Smoke 2 joints. Bruh, you done stepped in the right hole.
@comicrelieflastlaugh34162 сағат бұрын
So glad you are here for this, Sublime are simply put, sublime. They had a wide variety of topics they discussed from starting your daily routine in the cover of The Toyes song "Smoke Two Joints", Spiritual mysticism in the song you just listened to "Santeria", abuse and exploitation in songs like "Wrong Way" and "Date R@pe", as well as joining the LA Riot's in the song "April 29th1992." They had an honest take on many things with a great level of whimsy throughout producing a number of really great tunes despite only having a few albums before the band broke up and tragedy struck as a heroin overdose took the life of lead Bradley Noel at the age of 28. Other great songs include "What I Got", "Doin Time" (which was given new life when covered by Lana Del Ray in 2019), "We're Only Going To Die (For Our Own Arrogance)", "Scarlet Begonias", "Slow Ride", "Bad Fish", and "Pawn Shop" to name a few. Gwen Stefani and Bradley were friends and collaborated on the track "Saw Red" - Link form Sublime official - "Saw Red" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4S7oH6nn815qNksi=RTTPYVTNkd2KDz5o A personal favorite of mine; they also did a cover of the Hanna Barbara theme song to the cartoon "Hong Kong Phooey" which is a light and fun jam song that has no business going as hard as it does for a 1970's cartoon theme. - Link form Sublime official - "Hong Kong Phooey" kzbin.info/www/bejne/nauQnIp7oMatgcksi=E0YMPFzVlb8WJMKY There is also a great song based on another Hanna Barbara cartoon "Secret Squirrel" from the alternative post grunge era band Marcy Playground most well known for their song "Sex and Candy" which spent 15 weeks at #1 on the billboard's modern rock charts. Another fav of theirs is a song called "Our Generation." FYI: the song "Sex and Candy" might get you decent views but the others probably won't do as well. Thanks for the dive into Sublime. Can't wait to see more. And some back story on Lou Dog the Dalmatian who provides some vocals on the Sublime track "Waiting For My Ruca." In February 1990, Nowell purchased a Dalmatian puppy from an old man for $500, and named him "Louie" after his grandfather. Also referred to as "Lou Dog", he became a mascot for the band Sublime. Lou Dog was often allowed to wander the stage during concert performances. Louie was also often featured on the cover of Sublime albums, and was referred to in the lyrics of Sublime songs.

My husband, the music guru, said it is called Ska because it has the core of Reggae but they use jazz chords. The bass player plays substitute notes. He said it ends on the minor 2nd.
@downwardisheavenward30063 сағат бұрын
No offense, It’s ska because that’s the sound the guitar makes. Or so goes one of the legends. Jamaican ska 60-64, rocksteady 65-66, reggae 67-let’s call it 1980. Those time periods, are meant to a reference. Because even though they either started, or coalesced during those years, they obviously exist beyond them. The confusion can be blamed on the two tone bands. Cause most of the musicians hadn’t heard the early 60’s stuff, so they took what The Specials, The English Beat, The Selecter, and Madness did, and mixed it with the reggae they were more familiar with
