there are 2 things about the Bismarck that always thrill me, #1 the Anti-Air batteries were too modern at the time to catch slow moving bi-plane-torpedo-bombers (we're talking sixteen 105mm anti-air guns as main air defense) #2 the lucky hit itself, to step into a Swordfish that has a torpedo attached to it and fly towards some might refer as "actual Metal God" is mental, but to land the critical strike on the Bismarck's rudder so it got stuck, and the battleship was destined to sail in circles, til the Royal Navy backup arrived. sorry but this story needs a modern day movie. f*ck the titanic.

Here's the thing about the Bismark's rudder. They had noted it as a flaw that a hit anywhere *near* the rudder would get it stuck. They didn't even need to hit the rudder, just get close, and they could hit further since it was a torp. That rudder was literally the achilles heel of the entire ship, and the Kreigsmarine ignored it because they wanted it as part of a fleet, not alone.

react to the final solution by sabaton next. And id like to tell you about a the ship somewhat. after it sank the famous British ship the HMS hood an entire royal navy fleet was sent to hunt it down and sink it. The Bismarck knowing it was being looked for headed for occupied France but was discovered by the British royal air force. as it showed in the video one British plane hit it with a torpedo and destroyed one of its rutters causing it to go in circles and become a sitting duck. it was hit about 400 times but almost all of these just bounced off. it took about two days to sink it. the British had 13 ships, but the most they ever had shooting it was 5. many people believe that the ship was scuttled (purposely sank by her crew) and that if it hadn't been it could have stayed afloat for another half a day.
