The Italian Front in WW1 was such an overlooked theater of the war. Millions of casualties among the Italians and Austro-Hungarians in freezing cold temperatures at insanely high altitudes. Not to mention the number of soldiers who died from avalanches. Both sides would try to bury the other in snow. They're still finding bodies of soldiers to this day.

That synth is a specific kind of synth that was popular in Italy in the 80's I believe so because part of the troops that died there were Italian. Every song is about war but not in a glorifying way. If anything, the only thing they glorify are the brave souls who sacrificed their lives in wars. They educate and sing about the events in war 'lest we forget' not to celebrate the wars, but to keep alive the memory of the events of those wars. Not who won and who lost. I honestly believe Sabaton should be played in history classes. Because they provide perhaps the most unbiased view of history out of just about any source I know of.

At first it was thought to be a lost and injured climber or outdoorsman, until police started looking at the clothes. On December 13th, 1916 at 5 AM, known as White Friday, a series of avalanches hit both Austro Hungarian and Italian barracks and basically buried them with everyone inside. People reported afterwards that both Austro Hungarian and Italian troops fired artillery at the loose snow on the mountains to cause avalanches on each other's side. The total death toll is unknown, but approximately 2000 soldiers died and a dozen civilians. Many of the bodies were never found. Some are being found nowadays with the ice on the mountains melting more and more due to climate change.
