Lest we forget. What a beautiful song. The lyric "I have seen it all, but none will hear my story." is so powerful. It gets me every time. So many stories that would be otherwise lost to history. Sabaton allows these unsung heroes to be recognized and remembered.

“I saw the end of war” That line immediately makes me think of the quote: “Only the dead have seen the end of war”. This song being from the perspective of one of the soldiers who perished in those avalanches makes that line even more impactful.

The Italian Front in WW1 was such an overlooked theater of the war. Millions of casualties among the Italians and Austro-Hungarians in freezing cold temperatures at insanely high altitudes. Not to mention the number of soldiers who died from avalanches. Both sides would try to bury the other in snow. They're still finding bodies of soldiers to this day.

I'm from Michigan, I'm no stranger to the cold. I actually smile and cheer a little whenever the temperature gets below 80 here in Austin. That synth is a specific kind of synth that was popular in Italy in the 80's I believe so because part of the troops that died there were Italian. Also about the avalanche I believe it hit both sides because they both had the idea to bombard the mountain on the enemies side to cause an avalanche devastating both sides

Every song is about war but not in a glorifying way. If anything, the only thing they glorify are the brave souls who sacrificed their lives in wars. They educate and sing about the events in war 'lest we forget' not to celebrate the wars, but to keep alive the memory of the events of those wars. Not who won and who lost. I honestly believe Sabaton should be played in history classes. Because they provide perhaps the most unbiased view of history out of just about any source I know of.

On December 13th, 1916 at 5 AM, known as White Friday, a series of avalanches hit both Austro Hungarian and Italian barracks and basically buried them with everyone inside. People reported afterwards that both Austro Hungarian and Italian troops fired artillery at the loose snow on the mountains to cause avalanches on each other's side. The total death toll is unknown, but approximately 2000 soldiers died and a dozen civilians. Many of the bodies were never found. Some are being found nowadays with the ice on the mountains melting more and more due to climate change.

I lived in Italy for several years as a teenager. My dad was active duty Air Force, and we were stationed at Aviano. As a Boysscout, I went on a lot of hikes in the dolomites. I couldn't imagine climbing those mountains with a weapon and ammo. I barely made some of those hikes with my shitty gear. The men who passed there, and are still buried under those mountains are heroes, regardless of what country they fought for. Just my two cents.

Sabaton always gets me hyped! What would GET me hyped would be a release from Pagan's Mind! Been almost 10 years since their last album... But a reaction to their songs would be awesome Alex🤘🏻😁

so I never learned anything about White Friday before this song came out and I can't help but feel for the families who soldiers were forgotten until this song came out. I wonder what that feels like.

I love that intro. That made me laugh. I haven't been able to stop listening to Soldier of Heaven. That shows how awesome Sabaton's songs are.
