We need more trivium Krisute gomen Lets go Alex hugs from Brasil. Kiri-sute gomen Kiri-sute gomen[1] (斬捨御免 or 切捨御免, "authorization to cut and leave [the body of the victim]") is an old Japanese expression dating back to the feudal era right to strike(right of samurai to kill commoners for perceived affronts). Samurai had the right to strike with sword at anyone of a lower classwho compromised their honor.

The best part about getting into Trivium nowadays is that they have an entire discography of epicness that will keep you listening for a loooooong time! There are gobs of absolutely stunning tracks on every single album from Ember, Ascendancy, Crusade, Shogun, In Waves, Vengeance (yes, there ARE great songs on that record), Silence (ditto), and Sin. They've been around so long and have always maintained such a high level of quality in their albums that my personal list of favorite Trivium songs probably numbers into the 50's!!!

All these noobs asking for Strife lol. Yes it has a cool little guitar lick intro and has a good hook but that's about it. "Thrown into the fire" bro for the real trivium, or "A Gunshot To The Head Of Trepidation" but not the shortened music video version, use the official audio on trivium's YT channel if you're gonna do gunshot. More Shogun tunes also please :D literally any of the material I have mentioned eclipses "Strife" easily.

Clikcer Productions maybe but just the VF album for me is probably joint weakest with crusade. I would still recommend other softer tracks over strife. It does have some cool moments for sure, I just can't stand the draiman influenced verse vocals mainly. I would prefer other softer songs over strife e.g ghost that's haunting you, darkness of my mind, dying in your arms & a grey so dark. Just more interesting songs as a whole in my opinion.

That's more or less the essence of prog metal, you get a wide variety of styles within the band that come out in different songs/albums. Basically all prog metal bands pull influence from Dream Theater. These guys have been doing it for almost 20 years now, seems like yesterday...
@KyleJPie106 жыл бұрын
Trivium definitely isn't prog metal, although they do carry some elements of it (primarily on Shogun).
@MrJayforce226 жыл бұрын
You can't really classify them as any particular metal genre, which is why I just call them prog....and a good deal of their influences are prog metal as well. Potato, potahto...
@KyleJPie106 жыл бұрын
Prog is all about pushing boundaries and doing new things whilst being influenced by a wide variety of genres (jazz, blues, classical, etc). Trivium is one of my all time favorite bands but they've never really pushed any boundaries as far as metal goes. They're just a group of really talented musicians that can write great metal music.
@MrJayforce226 жыл бұрын
They also incorporate technical and theoretical complexity in their music, which is also what prog is all about. They are just as much a prog band as they are a melodic death metal or thrash metal band. Their is no clear classification here. No need to argue about it, neither of us are 100% right.
@KyleJPie106 жыл бұрын
It really isn't complex music, at least not in the metal world. No strong usage of odd time signatures or time signature changes. Song structures are rather simple. I'm not denying that they do have a select few songs that could definitely be classified as such, but when you look at their discography as a whole, you can't call them progressive. Ember and Ascendancy are metalcore. Crusade is melodic thrash (Title track is quite progressive). Shogun could definitely be labeled as a progressive metal album. In Waves is metalcore. Vengeance Falls and Silence in the Snow are just pretty generic radio metal. The Sin and the Sentence has a few moments you could say are inspired by progressive music but nothing really stands out in that realm outside of the drumming. Bent is fucking phenomenal. Instantly became the most talented member in the band.

So... my favorite thing about Trivium is how descriptive their songs are. Using Throes as an example... read this Blind-folded and gagged stood waiting With the whole world my firing squad At the edge of the world I'm faced out Staring the sun right in the eye Vultures circle above, hyenas mocking the kill Excrement drooling down their chins Atop the cliffs I look down into the starving hell-mouth The rabid foam crashes hard on it's teeth It could be metaphorical, but even taken literally it paints a detailed picture of a man facing a death sentence for not conforming (lyrics in the rest of the song) to an oppressive government. When taken out of the literal context, most of their songs describe many of life's great conflicts... but Trivium does it with beautiful metaphors that are just so damn relatable. TL;DR: Trivium manages to take great wordsmithing and by combining it with great musical talent... they take it to another level.

I really hate that Slipknot is in that group (I can't stand most of their stuff), but you're probably right. As someone who's been a fan of Trivium since Ascendancy, I am very glad they've become so popular. Now people won't look at me confused when I talk about my favorite band.
