I believe histamine is the number one cause of mental issues in society. It's not diagnosed in Western standard medicine. If you can get this under control, it won't solve all your problems but it will provide you with quite a relief for sure.for most, high dose ascorbate may bring some relief, more severe cases you're going to have to get serious with methionine, b5, b6, calcium etc and try to avoid high histamine release foods.

Using L-Glutamine (Nutricost), whole ketogenic clean foods, immune boosting mushroom blends, and *_FASTING_* I totally healed myself of the most severe case of histamine intolerance I'm aware of. I was *_SO_* intolerant that eating *_anything at all_* caused me a *_severe asthma attack_* just from the histamine released by my body to produce stomach acid. I self-diagnosed when I thought I had really bad allergies (not knowing it was eating that was the problem) to grass, leaves, mold, etc so I started fasting to reset my gut and _then_ noticed that I was FINE as long as I didn't EAT. So, I learned about histamine intolerance from doctors like Dr. Lynch (thank you!!!), found the MCAS food lists, and started healing my gut and only eating whole, clean keto foods on the "low histamine" MCAS lists to avoid symptoms while I was healing my gut. I fasted 23:1 80% of the time, 16:8 20% of the time and threw in a 3-day fast every month. I went from not being able to swallow anything without a reaction to being able to eat all the high histamine food I want after 5 months with that regimen. Now, I keep taking the L-Glutamine and I continue to fast, but I read Dr. Mindy Pelz's book, "Fast Like a Girl" and go according to my hormonal needs as a woman. I'm 51, female, 5'2", started at 129 lbs, now working to maintain my weight at 103 lbs (I still tend to lose by IF but Dr. Mindy's book is helping with that). My stem cell and human growth hormone production is through the roof as strongly evidenced by my majorly cut musculature. I haven't been this ripped since I was 30 and lifting weights at the gym regularly (which I'm not now, LOL). I live an active lifestyle, but WOW.

@@MountainCarpenterEagle Honestly, I'm still learning my own body's perfect "protocol." The immunity mushroom blend I was taking was "plnt" brand "mushroom immunity blend." Get Pelz's book, "Fast Like a Girl" and get your immune system cleaned up with that as a practical guide to fasting and eating. It takes time and patience, but you can't get an "exact protocol" from anyone...you have to listen to your own body and work it out. That being said, you probably have an MCAS/histamine intolerance so look up what I noted about that in my OP. Best wishes to you! You CAN get this under control with what I've given you, and there isn't any more I can do for you because your body is totally different than mine. I've learned that the hard way.

@@MountainCarpenterEagle My response disappeared...? Anyway, I thought I had SIBO (bloating) until I discovered Ayurveda food combining rules. Bye-bye bloat. As for my perfect protocol...I'm still looking for that; everyone needs to experiment and find their own, but fasting _and_ what you eat when you are eating is key. It's individual, though; don't let anyone fool you into thinking otherwise, that there's a "magic diet" that will fix you. Well, there is, but it's _unique to you_ and only you can find it. I'm still refining mine even though I'm tons better. Best to you and I hope this posts and sticks around!

mage in my brain which I believe is due to gluten consumption causing Gluten Ataxia. Now I’m gluten free again for about a month now and I’m not having horrible symptoms like balance issues, lack of coordination and I can use my hands normally. I’m dealing with histamine issues. My skin turns red and I get annoyingly itchy all over my body. So I want to tackle this problem and I’m so happy for all the information from this Doc and Seeking Health. People need this information, it’s so important because there are so many people out there suffering and conventional doctors have no clue when it comes to illness like this. They dismiss what they don’t understand. Over the years I’ve developed Medical PTSD due to the ignorance and huge EGOS of conventional medical doctors. When I’m on gluten I suffer from depression and intense anxiety (the world becomes a very dark, scary place) and when I’m gluten free I don’t have depression or anxiety. Finding out about how gluten affects me is the most eye opening thing to have ever happened to me. I’m so thankful for this year and I’m so looking forward to healing.

I also was pretty sure i had ataxia for years in my 20s, heavy head, unfocussed, terrible skin issues, felt like i came off a boat most of the time. horrible. The single best thing for me was a meat + veg only diet (zero sugar, low carb, no alcohol, lots of cold showers) for 3-4 weeks then continued as much as possible. I highly suspect its all related to gut health, which takes a very long time to get back on track. The doctors (in the UK) are largely useless with this type of condition. And i found once the gut/system has been given a long time with natural meat + veg to heal up, you can then enjoy most things in moderation. I think my years of pizza and beer at university made my system go "fk this!" :D

It really is unfortunate that this mthfr gene does so much damage as well as causing acne which is especially unpleasant. It seems so unfair. I suspect my son’s reaction is also related to low B1 levels. I think we’re all deficient in the B vitamins due to the mthfr gene and that is causing the other issues. Well after 5 years I have figured out that my Histamine intolerance has direct link with iron & heme metabolism or methylation pathways. And hence supplementing vit C, Copper, rutin/quercetin , folate, b12, b6, glycine, bcaa, tryptophan, vit A etc All of which participate in regulating iron or heme metabolism or influence methylation status, also help tremendously with regulating Histamine. Also ramping up potassium which is used along b12 pathways, eliminated my histamine buildup. I've come to fall in love with potassium - amazing sleep , critical for vasucular integrity, Insulin & glucose mgmt, fluid balance, nerve repair, acid-base pH balance of the lymphatic system & so much more ! I believe potassium & magnesium when absorbed well in therapeutic amounts have strong anti cancer effects .

Last year I learned all symptoms during past 20 years due to my body's inability to clear "excess" histamine. Here's what I learned but before that I have a couple of questions 1) what is 1 HDU? How many milligrams of histamine can 20,000 HDU degrade? So, it appears, at least in me, that low DAO at the end of small intestine + ascending colon is what's causing the problem. That makes sense because DAO's greatest expression is here and in fact increases at farther the distance. Elevated histamine lowers the pH in this area of intestine favouring bad bacteria versus good bacteria. That's why when I went gluten free which in turn lowers intake of sugar fructan, symptoms subsided because I deprived bacteria in that area a food source. Now that I know it's histamine, my goal is to eliminate "excess" histamine and hopefully as the pH rises in this area of my intestine, it will favour "good" bacteria and NOT bacteria that ferment. While gluten free helped with IBS, it did not cure the problem, "excess" histamine. In addition to excess histamine lowering pH and altering the motility complex in the small intestine and in turn causing IBS + SIBO, it also triggered many other symptoms outside my gut. Thankfully, I have since learned a lot including that some are selling the enzyme I need. However, as you know, not ALL need the enzyme. I have learned it's possible, at least in me, that diet and avoiding alcohol are sufficient to eliminate "excess" histamine. Avoiding alcohol is the easy part. Diet not so much. Thus, what I am doing is drawing a line in the sand and putting everything on one side "pro-inflammatory or histamine" and "anti-inflammatory or histamine" on the other side. I am having a lot of success with this approach. And once I learned more about the dose dependent relationship I will throw caution to the wind about where I buy my DAO and how much. Breck

I am very new to the vast knowledge of histamines and histamine intolerance. I just finished nursing school and after becoming an RN, my eyes are SO open to the lack of comprehensive care in our medical system. Long story short: I have had about 10-15 symptoms from histamine intolerance for the last 18 years, maybe more. Exhausted from research, I googled again and found histamine intolerance. I followed a low histamine diet for THREE weeks and almost all my symptoms went away, including my extremely painful period. I was able to get through the very mild cramps (thanks to low histamine diet) with an antihistamine. I could not believe it. My question: What genetics test is recommended? I always hear people talk about their genes. But how do I find out what genes I have that are affecting my health?!

Before I go further let me ask you this question in your experience and with tremendous knowledge could peptides and histamine intolerance create this skin problem? and how could I be sure? After benefiting so much from peptides I have to continue using them but not with this annoying and hurtful itches. hello, perhaps it would be a good idea to throw in some L-citrulline and add AKG in form of AAKG to your Histamine Block + formula. It will help tremendously to remove the toxic NH4+ and peroxide through supporting SOD. It would enhance greatly the effect and lessen stress load on body. Many ppl with HIT and MCAS have elevated blood pH (marginal alkalosis), so removing ammonia is of a great benefit. Also, glutathione synthesis can be increased by supplementing with glutamine, NAC and glycine. (Some people with overactive brain may be sensitive to glutamine, due to its conversion to glutamic acids and glutamates, which are of highly stimulating nature in the brain. In that case, take some GABA as well to balance out the glutamates and calm your brain down, especially b4 sleep)/ BTW awesome video and products.

What do we do now that stratagene isn’t available anymore? My 23 and me genetic genie is missing a lot of information. I’ve had trunk itching which I thought was my liver (had constant nausea during pregnancy and obstetric cholestasis- felt similar itch but only on trunk after baby was born). Had a HUGE allergic reaction to mango where I was SO hot (man my ears were on fire!) and had hives down to my knees and felt like severe sunburn plus rolling in nettles. Took benedryl and realized my trunk itch went away! I’ve suffered with that for YEARS! about a decade! Now I know its related to histamines!

Dr. Ben - Thank you for such an informative video on how to use the supplements! I've used Histamine Block for about 18 months WITH food, and it has helped tremendously! I've never tried Histamine Block Plus and will order soon. I see that there are many nutrients that my naturopath has recommended to "open up" the Histamine pathway, but I'm afraid to proceed with her protocol. She has recommended MASSIVE amounts of niacinamide... 1500 mg per day! Does that sound excessive to you? Thank you for all of the guidance you give us. You have a heart for truly helping people. Please keep giving us videos like this!

I had a major MCAS episode 5 years ago, manifest as tongue swelling, breathing difficulty, and diarrhea, I was given multiple shots for anaphylaxis and went unconscious, I ended up in ICU for 3 days. I was diagnosed with MCAS. My doctors said they saw no environmental or food cause. It took me about 6 months and 2 more visits to ER to notice my symptoms early enough to stop with antihistamines before symptoms developed to dangerious levels. 5 years later I only needed 1 or 2 antihistamines per week if i noticed itchy hands, until I got accupuncture with electrical stimulus, for a injured shoulder. Immediately after treatment I started coughing and tightness in chest, I took a benadryl. Next morning I had diarrhea. Another benadryl. Also body felt very shakey. It has taken me over a week to get back to daily antihistamines and only itching hands. Have you heard of accupuncture with electrical stim causing histamine dump? Just found your products and research and I am looking forward to trying them. Long history of autoimmune issues ( asthma, bulbous phemphagoid, MCAS).

Nice presentation! What are your thoughts on Genova Diagnostics? That's where I had my test done and was not impressed the with doctors limited understanding of my chart. I had more understanding of what supplements to take than what he could recommend. Still, I am not an expert in this field so I am doing my own work. Ordered your book. Had already tried some of your supplements and will be orderings a wider range through your website. Meanwhile, I will read the book and considering taking YOUR designated test which seems to have lots of details.

I had such a terrible case of histamine intolerance that I couldn't tolerate _anything at all._ Here's my journey to health, and I hope it helps you, too. Oh, and my mom, too, couldn't tolerate any supplements because of gelatin, citric acid, etc. in the capsules and formulas. She's better now, too, but not totally out of the woods like I am...yet. Using L-Glutamine (Nutricost), whole ketogenic clean foods, immune boosting mushroom blends, and FASTING I totally healed myself of the most severe case of histamine intolerance I'm aware of. I was SO intolerant that eating anything at all caused me a severe asthma attack just from the histamine released by my body to produce stomach acid. I self-diagnosed when I thought I had really bad allergies (not knowing it was eating that was the problem) to grass, leaves, mold, etc so I started fasting to reset my gut and then noticed that I was FINE as long as I didn't EAT.

Sucking liposomal glutathione definitely gets it across the BBB. One night's sleep then resets the brain fog, mental fatigue and the vulnerability to daytime sleep back to zero. I think that it involves histamine but only in the brain. Triggers that cause typical IgE type allergic responses elsewhere in my body are not effected by sucking liposomal glutathione. I'm going to try swallowing liposomal N-AC next. Please try the liposomal glutathione, I'm sure I'm not the only person who benefits from this.

I have been sleep-deprived for as long as I can remember so this really surprised me. So far I have not found any other antioxidants that can do this. I am curious since the Sam E works of pathway to decrease the histamine and process it. I have been taking it during the morning time and I have been getting extremely tired. I am wondering if that is because it’s decreasing the histamine in my body, and like you said the norepinephrine and that’s why I am having issues with fatigue during the day and it might be better for me to take it during the evening like you said it is phenomenal to take a night.
@DrBenLynch

SAMe works by supporting methylation. Methylation works on many things including breaking down histamine, dopamine, norepinephrine and estrogen. This is why you are getting tired. I recommend people take SAMe before bed. SAMe specifically turns histamine into n-methylhistamine.
