I got to explore that same mine around the same time you must have. I had read about it on a blog where they also mentioned a large network of tunnels going right under the town. I just assumed that it has those side tunnels that were rocked up but from your footage they really do look like dead ends. It didn't even occur to me that there could be other ones in the area. I might have to try and convince my family to go back and explore some more. We are wanting to explore the mines near Refton.

Your work is getting much better! The quiet atmosphere music is awesome also that outro music!. There is an entrance into the coal mine up the track from the Community House- But no where near as interesting as this one you found. Your presentation is getting more confident too. Toooo many cones bro. 😆

They were trying to find an ancient, many millions of years old river channel. They drove the adit in below the top of the bedrock but had to maintain a slight raise in elevation to drain the water. All the piles of stacked rocks are called gobbing, a way to backfill unused openings. Notice, anytime the contact dipped down, they branched off to find the lowest elevation, where the gold was on bedrock!

Something similar. Google Liberty gold mine Washington state. Rare wire gold hard rock mining up in the hills and a placer mining operation down in the valley. The great mystery is where did all gravels with boulders come from overlying the placer operation with rock types not the surrounding area?

Would be neat to survey using a Minelab Goldmonster 1000 with small coil, especially the floor of the mine.

Definitely agree that would be great, we do have a metal and gold detecting device but just don't have enough hands with carrying a torch in one hand and the camera in the other hand, will have to try it out one day, thank you for watching and commenting 😎👍

Wherever they found boulders the biggest nuggets were to be found!
