Fr. Ray Ryland, a convert from the Anglican Church, talks about the importance of continuity within Christianity and Christian history. He explores the concept of the Church as the Mystical Body of Christ.
About the Deep in History Talks from the CHNetwork:
Why should we go deep in history? As generations before us have learned, history is the laboratory for thinking about the issues that matter most to us as human beings. By placing ourselves back into another time, we are able to look at our own time with more objectivity; we see its strengths and weaknesses. For Christians, there is the additional truth that ours is a historical faith. Christianity is rooted in the historical facts of Jesus's life. The Church which is his body has lived, grown, and matured in space and time. The surest way to know Jesus and his Church is through the study of history, both biblical and post-biblical.
We hope these resources take you deep into the history of Christ's Church and thereby deeper into Christ. Please visit:

AMEN AND AMEN🙏 This video is 5yrs ago and i've just watched it now in this pandemic covid19 time dated this 21st day of September 2020 in Bacoor, Cavite. I feel so great everytime i watch or listen to a testimony of a protestant converted to our Roman Catholic Church, like this one of Fr. Ray Ryland because they can testify more that the one and only true church founded by our Lord Jesus is the Roman Catholic Church.🙏 Thank you, Fr Ray, for your marvelous testimony. I love it and it makes me more go deeper into my catholic faith and never to waiver till the rest of my life. God bless you🙏❤

It is a related of Church History and restoration. There is all point hidden still now in Medieval to modern History there.Though it is a part of Total human Society but there we can find hidden flaws actually to Judge their Vigority or flaws as stated by Colonists and made History by following their Protestant Historian.Catholic History gone some major fixed Idea so failed in Asia and protestant also took the Advantages and did more illusions in History with their so called Modern thought. Thanks to the Mr. Ray he made it open with their own Religious differences. In all Religion ,time to time all have Religious agents protected by King and Rulers and they guided to the people in the name of God and did protected King-Father /Mulla/Purohit gained their respected share.None have thought one moment for their Crusade fighting between different religion how much damage they made for Human in the name of God.Jesus the Great social reformer of the Europe I can say it without any second thought. In the cases of Padri or like this type in any religious Agents did and doing still damage in the Human Society.

Good talk, but if this man believes in continuity then, the true church should have continued with Peter seeing himself as a fellow elder and not some Holy father reigning over all the people of God. In fact, the Lord on several occasions reprimanded the disciples each time they tried to claim to be above others!

Ray Ryland cannot understand continuity without exploring the concept of the role of the Black man in salvation history beginning with the conversion of the Ethiopian eunuch by Philip the Deacon in the Gaza strip after the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. That should show the Lord left as His true Christian church a body of believers who kept the Ten Commandments fully, worshiped God in spirit and truth and just as Jesus' custom was, kept and hallowed the seventh-day Sabbath while awaiting His second coming, or advent. And the gospel that Christ intended to preached into all of the world was the same gospel that Philip taught the Ethiopian eunuch using just one book of the Bible, namely the prophecies in the scroll of Isaiah pointing out that Jesus was God and the Messiah. That principle is the ROCK on which the Church is built and not on Peter as the first pope which he definitely was not because James, the brother of Jesus was the first leader of the church AFTER Christ returned to heaven. Not one aspect of paganism was a part of the teachings of the true Christian church.

Sidney Dorsett The only problem with that "theory" (and I thought I had heard them all...I stand corrected) is that we know not where the eunuch went so what "it should show" is just that...we don't know where he went! For all we know he went exactly one mile and turned to join the throngs of Christians who have stood the test of time and are still here...still here...representing and a part of that great Body of Christ that is and will remain long after you and your theory are dead and gone, the ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC and APOSTOLIC CHURCH which is the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Empire rose and fell with a man on the Chair of Peter. Same with the Byzantine Empire, the Ottoman Empire, the British Empire, they all rose and fell with a man on the Chair of Peter. Christ's guarantee that the gates of Hell shall not prevail against HIS CHURCH. It is still here and shall be, as he promised he would be with us, "until the end of the age." God Bless.

What theory? Read Acts 8:25 -40. The eunuch went back home! Church Father St. Irenaeus of Lyons said in Adversus haereses (Against the Heresies) that: *"This man (Simeon Bachos the Eunuch) was also sent into the regions of Ethiopia, to preach what he had himself believed, that there was one God preached by the prophets, but that the Son of this (God) had already made (His) appearance in human flesh, and had been led as a sheep to the slaughter; and all the other statements which the prophets made regarding Him." In Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo tradition he was referred to as Bachos and in Eastern Orthodox tradition he is known as an Ethiopian Jew with the name Simeon also called the Black, the same name he is given in Acts 13:1."* Please discard your theory. Advise yourself to study like the Bereans. God is interested in teaching others to obey Him, keeping His commandments and not *going wondering after the beast*

I thought Simon Magus was the first Pope of Rome. Isn't there historical evidence to support that Simon Magus founded the Roman Catholic Church?
