Thank-you for respecting sacred ground. I live in Oz but I have worked in England and I really, really love the English village. Your closing statement was gold, Chris. All just my opinion, of course.

Great little video with some good pictures - I like the fallen tree and house. Coincidentally I spent yesterday exploring a lovely little village near me - Culross on the Forth estuary. I got enough pictures to keep me happy processing for several days! Thanks for the vlog.

Hi Chris: I watched this video for a second time. I hope that this series continues as there are many small villages and towns in the Lake District that I would enjoy seeing more of from a photographic perspective. Well done! Cheers, Keith

Lovely video. I agree completely with your comment that photographers are naturally curious. Every serious photographer I know, both amateur and professional, are innately curious about nearly everything. I think that curiosity not only drives our photography (as you pointed out) but it also drives our creativity on some level.

Chris this was absolutely wonderful, please do more of this sort of video as it’s completely refreshing from the usual photography vlog. You live in a gorgeous part of the world rich in history. Someday my wife and I will visit, but until then we’ll watch your videos… We received news of an offer on our home above the asking price very early this morning so I’ve been occupied signing papers etc. We should be moving to New Mexico in a month.

Enjoyed this one Chris. A nice change of pace from the usual photography vlog. Reminded me a bit of the day spent at Lowther castle when you guided me around that area. The river was heaving that day! Fond memory for me. Cheers Jeff

Excellent video, Chris. Different from your usual work, but in a good way. I found myself pausing the video to study the various signs, buildings, settings. I agree that one better illustrates what you see when they are familiar with the object or story behind the view. I look forward to you producing more of these types of videos.

Excellent video Chris. Finding out about the history of an area is always fascinating. Here in West Lothian (where I know you have spent a lot of time in a previous life), the industrial revolution has left its mark across the county, but dig a bit deeper and you get Romans, Picts, Jacobites, Covenanters and royalty. I wrote a walking guide to the area - illustrated with my pictures, natch - and adding in the history really helps add interest to the routes.

Great and interesting video, thanks Chris. Is really important to tell stories about history and culture of the places we visit or live in. I’ve been doing it on my blog (to introduce new places to my friends in Spain) with text and images, but without filming myself. I can’t stand my voice and my face on video. 😀

Hi Chris, fascinating video, especially to me living in a country where nothing building wise is older than about 200 years. Loved the history element you’ve added and the old church a subject along with really old cemeteries that is not often featured on photography channels and yet the churches are often even here such marvels of interior and exterior architecture. Cheers Chris .

Chris please do more of these videos! Very informative and the photos turned out great! When walking in a Greek Orthodox church you know straight away the patron Saint, because looking straight ahead there is a gate, next to the gate on your right there is an image of Jesus and next to that there is the image of the patron Saint. For us Greeks the patron saint of sailors and fishermen is mainly Saint Nicolas.
