I really appreciate you taking the time to cover these topics seriously, and I especially appreciate how unbiased you were in your delivery. Keep up the great work, you deserve soooo many more subs! They will come soon. :)

It's videos like this that make this world feel a little smaller. The more we learn about each other, the smaller our differences become. Thanks for changing my world view Jabril. Peace!

Im from Nicaragua, but grew up in the states. Currently Nicaragua is a "developing country" but rooted with history and ties. I love this country due to it's rustic nature.

Good job, as always. I grew up in the Cold War and I don't remember 1st and 2nd Worlds. It was always the East (communism & socialism) versus the West (capitalism & democracy). It's a very complicated subject but you did a good job in explaining it in a short video (libraries full of books have been written on the subject). To add one thing. There was a time in the US when 'poor' countries were often called 'undeveloped' or 'underdeveloped'. These names eventually became recognized as pejoratives and were replaced with 'developing', as in, they may be poor now but they are on their way up (economically).

The distinction between 1st and 3rd world has always shifted according to convenience. Take Argentina for example, which has 1/3rd of its population living in poverty. You'd think that this would qualify it as a "third world country," yet it also sits on the G20 alongside America, Great Britain, and France. The growth of India's GDP by far exceeds those of every other country except for China, and yet over 200 million of its people go hungry every day. Bottom line is, how to measure wealth? What is wealth? What do words even mean Anyway this was very well researched, great job as always. Hope you had fun in the jungle

I was born and raised in Costa Rica (just South of Nicaragua, and also considered a third world country) and I know this was a long video already, but I think another defining characteristic of third world countries is the lack of security. now living in Canada, I feel that the US and Canada don't really have to deal with getting robbed (yes it does happen but I think at a different level) the houses here are not fenced, you generally don't worry about getting mugged in the street... I just wanted to lay down another detail that kinda separates third world countries

I think you got it wrong when you said that the term "third world" came as the suite for the first and second world. In french, there are two words translated into third in english : "Troisième", which means third as in "the 3rd of July", and "Tiers", which can mean "people out of a group". So, third state, or "tiers état" in french, means, more or less, the people who have nothing to do with the state. That's pretty much what you were saying around 3:30 ; third world meant every country who was not included in either the capitalist or the communist bloc, since at that time the world was not the same for people who lived in one of these blocs, and those who didn't. So third world really was a denomination meant to be used by the people in the capitalist or communist bloc, to design any country that wasn't part of the cold war

Finally, someone who points out the idea that socialism was a stepping stone on path to communism. This is what I was taught in my History of Russia and the Soviet Union class in college.

well, considering that the USSR was exactly what karl marx described as a socialist state developing to become communist, the term "communist" for russia meant they were working towards becoming that, that's why the idea of work was so important, because everyone was working towards the greater good, which was achieving communism, but at the time, they considered themselves as socialist

What's so weird about a communist democracy? Communism is inherently more democratic than any other system. Don't let Stalin and Mao define communism; Marx's philosophy even today is extremely progressive and humanist. Look into it. Great video.
