Fun fact, the Pannonian Avars were originally named Varchonites and adopted the Avar name from the Rourans just to trigger the Göktürks

Yes, they were composed of two ethnicities. The Vars, who were descendants of the Rourans, and the Chunni, who were White Huns (Hephtalites), chasen away from Bactria by the Gök Türks' and Persians' alliance. Vita Iustini of Corippus writes that the Avars bragged that they came to Europe from the direction of Persia, and crossed the Caucasus. Probably those were the White Huns, because the Vars probably came from the East, crossing the Ural river.

@@TatarW01 Very seriously. The name Avar came from the Var. Remember: their name was Varkhunni, in Hungarian is pronounced Várkony. In Hungary and in the Carpathian Basin you can find many localities bear the name Várkony, meaning Var-Chunnis. Because the Vars are one component of this federation, while the Chunnis are the other part. The name Chunni obviously comes from the name Huns. And the contemporary Byzantine chroniclers write it very clear where they came from: from the direction of Persia, because Persia and the Gök Türks defeated the White Hunnic empire, and chased them away. The same happened with the Vars, defeated by the Gök Türks and chased away. So they met in Eastern Europe and founded the Var-Chunni confederation of tribes, which became the Avar empire.

Tak, istnieją hipotezy że oni zaszczepili państwowość w Polsce, szczególnie jak mowa o kraju wiślan. Dodatkowo istnieją hipotezy, iż w Polsce było mgliste wspomnienie o pradawnym imperium rządzonym przez sarmatów, a chorwaci oryginalnie byli plemieniem sarmackim, plus jedna z ziem chorwackich ma nazwe rekonstruowaną na dosłownie "Lechia". Kiedyś zrobię o tym film dokładny z komentarzem głosowym.

For the states of the inner Carpathian ring/modern Transylvania was there the states of Blahnita and Vlahita as Avar vassals because I know on your Romanian video they were there but in this one theyre not. Is their inclusion down to the sources used or is it because theyre mostly theoretical?

They werent really states, these were places where according to ethymology something existed, and thats basically it. That region is super poorin sources so we can make only assumptions.

Not really Avars more correctly Varchonites were a union of White Hun remnants(Chon) and the obscure "Var" they emerged from the qyzylqum area and later migrated to Attila's realm however both Huns and Avars were Oghur Turkic and their languages were quite similar
