I remember even adding neon under the hood of your car or trunk audio actually impacted the progress of your game, and you also got to show off the accessories in 'real' magazines. My favorite part of the game was most arguably the URL races, 2nd is the downhill drifts.

Did you even play Hot pursuit 2?That one is probably the best game in the NFS franchise. Every NFS game after Underground was about unnecessary tuning bullshit and magically recharging nitrous. UG1 and 2 FORCED you to rice up your car and make it ugly and vulgar with their stupid "visual rating".

That kinda made the higher ones a bit better, but I do agree, Hot Prusuit 2 was one of my favouries, being able to make your car look how you want, and with Underground 2 adding the option to add undercab neon lights/hood, which also made you have to earn more money to both buy the car and max it out/Make it look sexy as hell

Dylan Saranov The first 6 NFS games didn't have that stupid tuning, I'm pretty sure that's enough to establish a franchise. And you just can't compare road-based arcadey NFS racing and track-based sim style of Gran Turismo. After NFS became obsessed with stupid streetracing bullshit, there were hardly any good arcade racers left.

Man... I remember playing Need For Speed: Underground 2 with my older brother on our PS2 when we were younger. We loved the shit out of that game for a long time. Then I remember getting Need For Speed: Most Wanted, and my dad actually _prevented_ me from playing it because I was eight and it was rated T. I actually played it while he was out of the house for a while approximately two to three months later (like the sneaky little fuck I am), and to my surprise, he didn't even care. One of the things about Most Wanted that I loved was the soundtrack. They were perfect songs to speed around to.

New NFS games wish they were as good as Forza or GT. What NFS is really lacking to me is the customization depth of Underground 2/ProStreet and a good physics engine which they had in Underground 2 as well. The Run's physics don't look so terrible in this video though.

Everything went wrong when they signed contract with Criterion Games. From game about emotions, speed and girls, they have done another Burnout Paradise, where doing stunts, stunt challenges and destroying billboards is 60% of game. I miss the old series where everything had sense.
