First of all great vid. Lots of cool nuggets of information that I had no idea about earlier so I appreciate that the endos are pretty cool! That said going to have to go through it again to talk about all the other endos but I'm just going to focus on the mimic for now. Yeah like yourself I'm not impressed either by the mimic I didn't even think about its backstory being so similar to other characters. The thing that just rubs me the wrong way the most is what it does to Vanny's character and legacy in the series, like before all this, before the game came out like you said she was so hyped up. Most thought she was going to be the next big bad of the series: The protege of Afton! But then the game comes out and not only do we realize that her screentime has been cut out so much its like shes not even there....turns out her boss was not even the ultimate big bad after all? It was just some random copycat endo that had a bad day? Like really you're telling me this girl ruined her entire life doing all this meticulous planning and various horrific tasks for some random endo? 🙄 I can't believe it. Like if we're really doing the protege/henchwoman of Afton plotline make it the real ultimate Big bad of the series that she's serving and learning from! not some copycat that gets bodied by the blob and like you said has no personality and had no impact cuz he did nothing in the game.... It just lowers the impact of everything Vanessa did and suffered thru since help wanted. It's like that saying goes go big or go home. If you're setting up this girl to be the future big bad, don't chicken out at the last second, take all her best moments out of the game and give us this random other thing as the big bad instead...That's just a copycat of the previous big bad but worse.... Some point to the post it note room in the game as signs that the mimic was growing sentience and questioning its purpose but the game went nowhere with it in the end. He never speaks to us in the boss fight and never gives us a look into his mental state and where's he at with his quest for a purpose. It's just kill us now mode with him. And then the dude walks a few feet and gets taken by the blob. Amazing... And yeah it raises a lot of questions too like you said how did Vanny not get wrecked by this dude? who only knows how to kill apparently. Maybe Vanny's in more control of him than we thought....I hope maybe she still the big bad 😂 And what's the deal with the whole remnant agony stuff now? why would a robot need remnant? With Afton it makes sense he's trying to 'come back' And the whole blob thing is weird too now why would the blob care about a random endoskeleton? Freddie makes some note that his friends are in there and angry which I always thought was you know the children's souls wanting vengeance, so I would think they were attracted to Afton and want to get the revenge on him but it's just the endoskeleton not Afton it's a little weird now. Aggh so many questions lol 😅

What's worse is that the Mimic is only fully used as a chase and an optical ending of killing it in the Ruin DLC. At the very least it was used, but it was just coping Gregory and the stuff listed above is all we get from it. So they just wasted a good, built up villain for something they scrapped up a few hours before finishing the books. At the very least, the concept is cool, even with poor execution.

Regarding your comment on Ennard wires being arranged in a muscle-like format, I have a little theory as to why that is. So, from SL’s opening cutscene, we’re told of the advancements that Circus Baby has over the other robots within the Fazbear brand. She can inflate balloons, dispense ice-cream, sing, dance and so on. On top of that, we know that she also sports a chest cavity with a claw meant to grab and trap children. All of that being said, we’re left to question why exactly the Funtimes incorporate wires into their endos besides a design aesthetic. My answer is because of weight. If Baby can inflate balloons from her fingertips, that to me means that somewhere inside her forearms there are helium tanks with tubes attached to them that connect to her fingers. Now, having helium tanks would be a sure way to make your robot entertainer slow, since they’re so heavy. Add to that an ice-cream dispenser which has to hold and produce different flavored ice-creams, plus a whole chest cavity with a large claw inside of it and you’ve got a robot that should barely be able to move. Except that Baby is said to dance, and this is where my little theory comes in. If we take a look at other animatronics within the series before the Pizzaplex generation that are also not Funtimes we see that their endos are quite regular, using what seems to be servo-motors and pistons to move around. They are somewhat sturdy, sure, and can move pretty well (especially when possessed), but are generally limited in their range of motion. Fnaf 1’s trailer shows this very well. The main gang cant turn, raise their hands, open their mouths and the like but not much else (we’re ignoring spirits’ effects on endos since ghosts seem to push them to their limits). If William wanted to make robots that could capture children while also being able to dance he couldn’t use regular endos since those are just too frail and weak to support the massive weights of the Funtimes. Bear in mind Baby is 7 feet tall if I’m not mistaken, and one of the bulkiest animatronics in the series. William’s solution to the weight problem was the use of wires, which, as you pointed out, resemble muscles. My theory is that they are literally meant to be muscles for the Funtimes (pseudo-muscles if you will), allowing them to support their own weight and reinforcing their frame while also giving them a more advanced range of motion. Otherwise, without the wires, having the Funtimes move at all while also supposedly being able to do the things they are said to do seems implausible. It’s more of a headcanon of mine, but I like to think Scott meant for this to be the case and did not add the wires just for design’s sake. If it is true, I think this is a neat piece of lore that expands onto the games without interfering with the story, giving it a bit more realism, which is always appreciated. In any case, thank you for coming to my TED Talk! Loved the video! Like always, the breakdown was really detailed and thorough. Hope you have a great day and I’ll see you next time!

Ah yes, the main FNAF villian: Pickles Billy Afton. I'd never thought the video about endos could be so interesting! Your videos always bring me joy. Mimic's backstory sounds curious, but I do think it would be more fun if they brought Ennard back again instead. Ennard used one person as skin-suit already, and seemed to find humans rather unsympathatic in general! This bundle of colourful personalities could become a rage driven human-killer very easily, while also having a more "practical" reason to do so, like experimenting with various ways to do a more durable skin-suit.

What worries me most about the Mimic is how all the information we currently have (both in the books and the few things the Security Breach tells us) seems to lead to him being just an Afton copycat instead of something truly new. I know it's too early to say the direction this will be going, but if so, then they should have just brought ol' Will back again honestly.

Hard agree. A Yesn't William Afton, if you will. But, like......what's the point of them not being Afton if they copy everything he does right down to his MO. Yeah, at this point, like you said again, just bring him back. At least with a copycat like Vanny, we have new motivations and an unknown goal.

It's implied that the FNaF 2 endos are the toy animatronic endoskeletons, particularly given Mangle's made solely out of those parts and that Chica, Bonnie and Freddy have the same mouths despite most of their other parts being removed since you couldn't see them anyways. Presumably the retrofits made to the older animatronics, as described by the phone calls, included replacing their endos with the same ones used on the toy line, but that stuff would then be removed. That also implies that the souls can fairly easily jump bodies if needed and somewhat connected, presumably due to the identity being assigned to the suits given that Golden Freddy is a suit without any internals (or without anything in his head, the rest wasn't removed apparently) and that the masks are always used to show the spirits' connection to the animatronics. And that does clear up that thing with Afton's shifting visuals. Yenndo's appearance is scary in the way FNaF 1 Golden Freddy is - he appears there, very clearly watching you, and just does nothing but watch you. There's no feasible way for him to have moved there or to move away again in the time he's given, yet he does anyways. Plus, his visual as a Funtime animatronic endoskeleton gives the impression that, unlike the others whose true malicious purposes are hidden behind mascots and colorful shells, he's not hiding what he is. Very eerie in a lot of ways.

My beef with the Mimic (what I've read so far) is that it /allegedly/ solves the "Henry accomplished nothing when he set the building on fire" problem, but actually doesn't. Sure, the actual William Afton is still for realsies dead. But he's been replaced with a character functionally /identical/ to him. Henry still gets credit for freeing the souls (assuming they actually did get freed and aren't secretly still in the Blob). But we got rid of William only to replace him with William, But Again.

And it took that literally. Could also explain why a part of the game is an homage to Fnaf 1 (What is lore and what is Easter Egg?). Wait hold on a second: I know how Vanny stopped the Mimic (Assuming Burntrap is the Mimic) from running into the room and killing her to death: The "set the room on fire" buttons! The buttons in the room with _Vanny's_ cot nearby. The buttons that set the room on fire and vaguely inconvenience Burntrap when Gregory presses them. The buttons with the _modern_ Pizzaplex logo on them, meaning they had to have been made _after_ Henry set the building on fire way back. Those buttons plus the security doors may have been enough to keep the Mimic contained. Now, how Vanny is comfortable sleeping in the same area as the killer robot she has to repeatedly set on fire is anybody's guess.

Endos are so cool in FNaF. One of the most interesting-looking things in the whole series. Funtime endoskeletons aren't all wires. Many components, such as their speakers, ears, eyes, and more complex and tight areas such as their hands, actually are entirely comprised of larger components. Also, if you look closely at renders of Yenndo, Ennard, or any of the normal Funtimes with their casings opened/removed, then you can see that under all those wires there is a metal frame as well. Presumably, the frame keeps them in their proper shape and prevents them from moving like some horrifying snake-thing (y'know, like Molten Freddy would and I so wish we'd seen him move like that), while the wires give them the bulk to hold up their casings and possibly fine control over their smaller movements. The SB Blob, using something similar to these wires, is also able to unfurl itself into nearly endless tendrils, being just a pile of coiled ones rather than some unfathomably tangled mess that can't change from that shape. It doesn't seem to have any form of actual skeletal frame, it's all wires with bits of other animatronics jutting through occasionally. So, the books. In TSE, all four characters' endos are shown - there's a pretty well-done flashback sequence where Charlie gets shown the main three in endo form and asked what she thinks of them, and they're described as very different from the FNaF 1 endo used. Chica has a unique mouth more like a clamp to work her beak, and her cupcake is a part of the endoskeleton rather than an independent piece; Bonnie and Freddy both have extra pieces for their ears and the latter's top hat, and they're generally described as a bit scrappier than the game's simple model - a lot more visible wires and their frames fully built out. Foxy, always the creepy, damaged loner, is of course hanging in shadows in the back of the workshop and twitching sporadically at that time. The Baby retcon there makes no sense, honestly. The knife endoskeleton, Henry's suicide weapon, is described specifically in the books as having a molded mask that 'would be sobbing if it could', specifically having an incredibly sorrowful expression with no functional face pieces. It didn't need eyes, or a mouth, or anything - its head is seemingly more of a sculpture than a robot in the novel. The graphic novel doesn't do anything in the books justice. And it's indeed described in TFC by John as 'more of a small sword than a knife', presumably so it can later go on to stab two different people with the knife sticking enough through to fully come out and be a danger on the far side of both. It was definitely a unique and dark concept, and it did also leave open initially the question of, if all the other endoskeletons ended up possessed.. did Henry really make that thing kill him on his own, or did something else take it over and do the deed of its own accord? That said, this was when it was meant to be a standalone book. And it was a pretty good standalone book. It was not a good trilogy though. Glamrock endos are definitely a great addition. They look really cool, they're incredibly creepy - the way you catch just a bit of movement when you look at them, the way they angle their heads to face you without moving the rest of their bodies, the startlingly loud mechanical noises they make, it's all really well done - but they're overused. Bonnie Bowl was likely to have an encounter with whatever remained of Bonnie himself, or perhaps some different thing, though it does make at least a little sense that the endos might be stored wherever the lower area is - perhaps when the area beneath/behind the bowling alley was in the game, there was a plan to have it loaded with endos and then they all get out during that section, so you can get back there afterwards. The leadup to the sunken pizzeria is likely where original Music Man, whose uniquely withered model and animations were used for the scaled-down one in the vents with no explanation (that thing is as big as Gregory and has no wind-up features on it, it is not some toy from a display case no matter what patch-job note tries to say it is), was meant to be. That would've been a cool chase. And I suspect the endos were meant mainly to infest the tunnels that are now removed, hence their inclusion in disconnected utility rooms like the Daycare basement. It seems like the Pizzaplex is part storage facility, keeping these endos around so they can then be programmed, covered with a casing and shipped off to whatever location needs them, which is quite a cool idea. Anyways, I also suspect, given that endo scuttling around on the walls, that perhaps they were meant to have multiple different forms you'd encounter. No way to tell them apart by appearance, because they're all bare endoskeletons, so you just have to try and hope you don't make a mistake judging which ones will stop when seen and which ones will rush you along the walls and ceiling. Or perhaps that endo was meant to be some personal minion of Vanny's. Who knows.

The mimic is interesting purely because he is a new villain but how he was handled by SB combined with the fact that you need to read a separate book from the games to know that he's the new villain and not Afton and the fact that when you see him in the games he just acts like Afton making him feel like "Afton but technically not guys trust me" makes him pretty meh in my opinion, at least for now.

I stopped keeping up with the books after like…the second one, so I never heard any of the ministories that weren’t important to theories. Hearing The Breaking Wheel for the first time is crazy and probably the most horrifying and grotesque horror I know about. The accompany art makes it worse. Imagining what Julius must have been going through is tragic.

Gotta wonder that the hell Ennard was doing those odd 36 years between Sister Location( presumably earlier '87) and Pizzaria Simulator( safe to say later '23). Also the Glamrock Endo "weeping angel" mechanic almost certainly came from the fangame: The Joy of Creation(Story Mode). 17:45 Yeah when they said they were going out to get some "Coke" they definitely ment the soda kind...

There is some evidence that the Tales from the PizzaPlex books were written during 2019, suggesting that the Mimic may actually have been planned since at least the early development of Security Breach. What is sure it's that there's a big lack of communication between everyone involved with the Fnaf IP for a random book to resolve a key plot point of an official game several months later.

The mimic most likely being glitchtrap and burntrap is so exciting for me. I'm happy to get a brand new villain that isn't william or elizabeth(even though I love these two idiots). That being said I have a theory on where the mimic came from and that is with Henry. I believe the mimic was meant to be adult charlie but Mrs Emily found out about it and left him because of it. Now being alone without a family, all of Henry's agony is poured into the mimic and Henry makes him mimic one last thing. He makes the mimic, mimic William to kill himself but obviously Henry survives. Blah Blah Blah, Henry causes the fire the end. However, the mimic is still out there with having mimicked William's actions and personality, he goes on to reignite the agony of this fantasy. This theory is very much inspired by Fuhhnaf but that leaves some questions. The biggest one being what happened to William and Cassidy in UCN. Also ding dong William is dead, I hope he got exactly what he deserves.

I like the idea of the Mimic being a vessel for Glitchtrap to access the physical world. If we assume it’s a new character and villain, that once again shoves Help Wanted onto the sidelines. Everyone was expecting Glitchtrap to make an appearance in Security Breach, but when Burntrap became the final boss fight, it was like everything being set up prior to the game’s release was scrapped. Well, if Glitchtrap is the Mimic and, by extension, Burntrap, then suddenly Security Breach makes more sense. If we think of Ultimate Custom Night as Afton’s hell, then we can think of Help Wanted and Security Breach as the uprising of a larger threat, one designed to *mimic* William Afton. I mean, the Mimic’s name doesn’t make sense without this plot point - why would it be called the “Mimic” of all things unless it was mimicking something? To me, it makes the most logical sense for the Mimic to be Glitchtrap’s way of interacting with the real world, and maybe that could explain its lack lustre personality. It just feels dumb to introduce a new villain when you had a really good one set up in an earlier game that hasn’t been explored since.

I... Don't dislike the Mimic. Similar to the Stitchwraith, it's a good idea: someone tries to make an endo able to adapt to any suit, starts taking his rage out on it one way or another, and because it's basically a Glamrock endo with no personality chip it mimics what it sees. Which just happens to be murder. Maybe it saw Vanny kill someone and mimicked that! But once again, a character is getting turned into William Afton because he's the main character. Mike could return as himself, and Ennard could come back and we actually get a Mike-Ennard tag team against the Undying Rabbit Lord of Trickery. Ennard and William seem to have some beef, so that could be exploited for actual interesting plots. I can't say I have anything against the idea of a The Breaking Wheel-style exoskeleton though! I think we need to see that in particular return. Heck, even just say that's what the Glamrock casings are (just a weaker version). That could have made the Pizzaplex a hell of a lot more interesting.

I love endo 01 they're neat. Ironically, to me the endo's have visually a lot more personality than some of the animatronics despite being basically just a skeleton with eyes. Actually that may be the reason I think they have personality in their design- the most significant part of them is their faces. I like to think endo 01 and 02 are possessed, but not by anyone that died but instead the souls of restaurant workers leaving their bodies after dealing with the nonsense of the restaurant. also I think a fun idea of an alternate post-baby Ennard design would be kind of a weird four-legged beast. Cryptid in the sewers stuff you'd see scuttling in the alleys with stolen rats.

The thought occurs to me that Henry made the most elaborate suicide plan ever. Create an Endo-02 duplicate with a knife hand, and then program it to kill anything that moves, including yourself when you turn it on. Wouldn’t a…cyanide pill be easier? A loaded gun? A noose? Why have a murder-bot just lying around in the house? Also, I am reminded that 4th Closet’s Baby is taken down by…a blade through the chest. Is that actually how she dies? Like, this killing machine that can lift couches with one hand and break people’s necks like they’re paper mache is taken out by the same thing that could kill an ordinary human?

Edwin Murray at least has several excuses more than his potential counterparts, Henry Emily and Willie A. His wife dies in childbirth, his company mysteriously fails likely due to Fazbear chicanery so it can be bought out cheap and as a single struggling father - the Mimic in its inception isn't a incredibly irresponsible child replacement more than just something to play with his kid while he makes the daily bread. I also like that, because it is a machine that copies what it sees, Mimic is not CORRUPTED BY MALEVOLENT GHOST EMOTIONS but simply recreating decades of violence they've been exposed to. However, it is still an incredibly awkward way to not just retcon Security Breach, but also retroactively Help Wanted and Special Delivery. Yes, its nice that Slick Willie didn't just also create a digital copy of his brain while deluding himself into thinking Child Murder and Rotting in a Bunny Suit is the immortality he always dreamed; but then why does The Mimic specifically WANT TO BE Afton enough to wear his flesh? Why did it create Mimic1 and how and why is it able to download itself into human brains when the Mimic just seems content to only kill people in a way that they're copying something they did? Even though papering over narrative issues Scott doesn't care about is FNAF tradition, this gives me even less hope for whatever good aspects Security Breach had could be better utilized in a new game than just thrown in the trash and forgotten for Heterochromia Elvis Tiger from the cover of Tiger Rock.

One of my favorite things about SB is if you bring Freddy down to where the endos are. He has a severe identity crisis and honestly wonders if there is anything unique about him at all anymore. This actually brings to mind Roxy, namely, her constant self reassurance. During her chase after she's been damaged and blinded, in the burning room, you can actually find a ton of Foxy merch, yet Foxy doesn't exist here in SB. It's likely that Roxy has not just something of an ego, but an outright fear that she will never live up to the popularity of Foxy and will be replaced. Upon being unable to find Gregory, she takes a break in her room and sobs. Then when she loses her eyes, she can do nothing BUT sob and in times where she isn't chasing Gregory, she continues to hope that she will be repaired. This entire personality shift is a good story segment and a wonderful insight to the minds of the non-possessed animatronics and how they can actually be "people".

I think Mimic is an interesting idea for an animatronic. There could've been a segment of The Pizzaplex, where he was in a jester outfit or behind a mirror, and he imitates what he sees. While it isn't stated outright, Mimic becomes hostile and starts to copy the behaviours of other animatronics. Perhaps Vanny or Moondrop pays it a visit. He just kinda pops up in Ruin, with no transition from Glitchtrap and Vanny to it. Am I glad FNAF is letting go of Peepaw? Yeah, sorta. In a way, you could also have Mimic as an opposite of The Puppet, what with its jester costume and its use of suits. Its a mix between how Charlie stuffed the kids in the suits to give them life again, and William luring the kids away and killing them. So, it would equate to: "Lure the children away, maybe with the promise of gifts or prizes. Then, kill em in an isolated location (maybe the sinkhole) and stuff the bodies into the suits." These dead spirits could give rise to The Blob. They know Mimic can tear apart endos, so they take the form of a formless monster, made of wires and animatronic shells.

21:26 Afton may have survived through several fires, but damn I'm not sure he'll survuve that burn lol. Great vid as always, didn't expect that much content about Endos in the books (tho Stitchwraith is a pretty important character, so, that's fair.) Real question tho, why are there so many Glamrock Endos in Security Breach? I mean, there's a total of 5 "official" animatronics in the Pizzaplex (6, if you take a potential Glamrock Bonnie into account). And those endos are only for Freddy, Monty, and potentially Bonnie (11:51). I can understand keeping 2 or 3 per animatronic just in case for a quick replacement, but even then, it'd be only 4-9 Endos necessary. There's only so much "saving money with bulk purchases" can explain, that's just an unnecessary reasonable amount of Endos, story-wise. The "only moving when out of sight" mechanic is pretty damn nice tho. I kinda wonder if that's inspired from The Joy of Creation or if it's just a coincidence. And yeah, the Mimic story is pretty damn repetitive.

I like the idea of the Mimic and having another endo antagonist, and if any of the info on it from the books ends up in future projects/games, I think they have a nice idea to work with. I originally thought it was a retcon in the wake of everyone being upset over Afton coming back and nuking the FNaF6 ending for no real benefit, but now I'm not entirely certain that it was a retcon. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter whether it was a retcon or not. While it remixes/reuses previous story elements, it doesn't involve dredging up old, resolved characters or coming up with some more complicated ways for them to keep coming back. I had less of an issue with William coming back than most of the other characters because I put him under the 80's slasher rule, but I'm definitely glad they can all stay down now, and we can get a fresher story going. They seem to have finally left 1-UCN behind, and I'm not going to take that for granted. I keep hearing about Joe Gaudet having a whole voiced character cut, and it put this image in my mind of Gregory and Freddy trying to get to the bottom of whatever the intended mystery of SB originally was, and then you hear what you think is HandUnit/Announcer Voice, and it turns out that the voice sounds close by, and it turns out this creepy, bashed up endo mimicking the announcer voice is trying to kill them or something, almost like "You are on the fastest available route" from Local58. There are seeds of good ideas with this character. The only issue is making sure more SB's don't happen and SW can actually pull them off. The idea of a villain settling in for basically a long-haul game of Jr's sounds kind of interesting. I guess you could say that I'm "cautiously optimistic", as the gamers like to say. I'm glad a new story seems to be emerging, and while I understand that a million things could go wrong with it, a sketchy W is still a W. The fact that they dug deep and still pulled something interesting out of SB's wreckage while tying it to the small amounts of lore that survived the cuts is a miracle. It's part of why I'm still hesitant to say whether Mimic is a retcon or not. It's still hard for me to tell.

But on the other hand, it's also kind of bland and boring. The idea of mimicking (get it) Afton and his actions just because "AI gone wrong" doesn't have any sort of impact for me. Mimic is doing what it does because "imitation" . It doesn't have any long term motivation, intelect, or plan of it's own. I don't know. To me, the Mimic is just discount William- without what made that character interesting. Don't get me wrong. This is definitelly a step in the right direction. However I can only see Mimic working as a secondary antagonist. The Main threat moving forward? Not so much. Underwhelming for that role.

Mimic a creation so deadly that even William Afton locked it away out of fear.
