and Tenochtitlan was probably not destroyed by the "Spanish Conquerors" but mainly by the people from the other tribes that wanted revenge for their enslaved, sacrificied and killed comrades, as these people were more numerous in the army that defeated the Aztecs

@@stormshadow5283 Secular governments were based on pagan Roman law. Criminals were often tortured to get confessions and God help anyone accused of witchcraft who couldn't escape to take refuge in a church. The church was very lenient about many things. No torture allowed because Moses Law forbids it. Something that most don't understand about the Salem witch trials is, the governor appointed to the colony held the trials and tortured the accused. He also had to allow any executions.

@@MarSchlosser Christian law prohibits torture? 😂 Yeah what about the constant witch burnings that occurred all across Europe or the inquisition in Iberia (both Spanish and Portuguese) and it's colonies, most infamously in Portuguese controlled Goa? If we talk about the Americas let's not forget the brutal Ecomiendas system imposed by the Christian Spanish in South America Or the whole sale justification of wiping out of the North American natives by the Christian US because the natives were "savages" as they were not Christian and therefore the Christian US could nullify any treaty they signed with the natives as and when they saw fit..

The human sacrifices fed cannibalistic priests who were the gods themselves and as stated in the religion needed a steady source of animal protein. The diet of the commoners was lacking in this. These priests even commented to the Spaniards that the flesh of infants was the best. This knowledge has been suppressed by historians to spare the feelings of those who are descended from them.

When did the crusades begin? Long after Islam wiped out one Christian nation after another. 10 million slaves taken from Europe's coasts. Millions taken from Eastern europe and that continued with up till Jefferson sent warships to the Med. 25 million slaves taken from black Africa, as many as 80 million taken from India, alone. How many millions did hitler kill as human sacrifices? How many were eaten because nazis practiced cannibalism? And nazism is growing in the West.

The main aid to the Spaniards was from Tlaxcala, a state that was a resisting enclave within the Aztec empire. The tlaxcalans knew than without the Spanish they were doomed. However, after the end of Aztec empire the Spanish were so grateful to tlaxcalans that they made them co-rulers of now Spanish Mexico.

John 3:16 doesn't say God loves all people. It says God agape (heroic self sacrificial action,not phileo, emotions) agape(Valor) the Kosmos (world) in this way that He gave His unique, only begotten Son, so that all the believing ones would not perish. John 3:16 doesn't address the issue of how does God feel emotionally about the wicked people who are going to hell. That is clearly described in Psalm 5 and Psalm 11. He hates them. Few are chosen to go to heaven. The rest go to hell. Repent immediately and believe that Christ died for the chosen.

1:18 primarily from post-conquest sources.... There was a change in the "perspective" that the chroniclers had and in the way they referred to the peoples of the West Indies. To give you an example, in the first letters of Columbus he described the Catholic kings of Castile and Aragon as the inhabitants of what is now called the Caribbean as extremely docile and easy to govern. And the queen dictated that they should be treated fairly as subjects and that they could not be mistreated or enslaved, although they could be treated as slaves if they did not accept the Catholic religion or carried out heretical practices. So suddenly letters began to arrive to the kingdom of Castile saying that practically all the peoples of the Indies practiced human sacrifice and cannibalism, which allowed them ( The new rulers) to treat the natives as they wished
@MarSchlosser
@MarSchlosser Күн бұрын
It wasn't Castile that made that decision, but colonists. According to the catholic church, no one who was a Christian was to be a slave. The wealthy did what they wanted and always have.
@JOSEPHJACENKO
@JOSEPHJACENKO 17 сағат бұрын
She did not say they could be enslaved if they did not accept Catholicism. She said that rumors of cannibalism had reached her and that if humans were to behave as animals and eat their own kind, then they were to be treated as animals and be taken into captivity and worked as beasts of burden. Furthermore, the edict wasnt solely intended for the new world but rather anywhere the spanish fleets might go. This logic was immediately abused by many capitans, governors and viceroys. Catholicism does not, nor ever has allowed for forced conversion. That is a complete myth usually perpetuated by misstatements regarding the nuances of history.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. The Spanish conquest didn’t eliminate suffering-it replaced one form of violence with another, on a far greater scale. Just because one group engages in practices we might find questionable doesn’t mean they deserve colonization. If that logic held, any society could justify invading another under the pretense of “moral superiority.” Such reasoning is both dangerous and hypocritical. The claim that colonization “saved” the Aztecs is rooted in Eurocentric arrogance. The Spanish didn’t “civilize” them-they destroyed their culture, razed their cities, and imposed their religion and social systems through violence and coercion. This was not salvation; it was cultural and physical genocide. Even if one finds the Aztecs’ practices objectionable, Spanish colonization brought far greater suffering to Indigenous peoples. Forced labor, disease, and systemic oppression wiped out millions. Arguing that one form of brutality justifies another is morally bankrupt. If human sacrifice makes the Aztecs “savages,” then what do we call the Spanish, with their history of the Inquisition, witch hunts, and mass killings? Colonization itself involved slavery, forced conversions, and widespread massacres. Condemning one group’s violence while excusing another’s under the banner of “civilization” is not just inconsistent-it’s hypocritical. And let’s be clear: Spanish colonization was never about ending human sacrifice or saving anyone. It was about power, wealth, and resources. The Aztecs’ gold, not their practices, drove the conquest. This is evident from the mass exploitation, pillaging, and enslavement that followed. The so-called “civilizing mission” was nothing more than a facade for greed and domination.
