Wow the asphalt generally looks so good and then that pothole came out of nowhere. I'm sorry for your tire! I wonder if such a pothole could be dangerous for scooter or motorcycles?

Oh god I couldn’t even tell you. It was an old Corolla wagon with factory 14” alloy rims. There was a 3-4 in section of thick tread missing in one spot where it tore off the tire. It remained inflated just missing a section of tread

About a 5x2 in patch of tread was cleanly broken off the tire in one spot so it’s like a part of the tire was new and full of tread and in another spot it was all gone down to basically a smooth tire in that spot it made contact.

It's fortunate that only the tire was affected, as repairing or replacing it is typically easier and less costly than fixing damage to the metal wheel or suspension. Three days ago, I hit a pothole while avoiding a collision at 25 mph, which resulted in my tire blowing out. I've been wondering ever since if my suspension was okay.

@@Flow-rs1qg Should be fine, suspension is designed to absorb impacts as well as the tire.

@@tampabayroadcam2017 loosing a hubcap is also pretty costly. as a collector i cant tell you how many times people dont come back from them after they fall off. One time, there was a pothole so big on an overpass, there were about 15 caps. i took about 11 because the rest were broken or damaged.

Congratulations on managing to hit the only pot hole on that stretch of road. Completely avoidable, unless of course you had someone to your left.

Dr. Peter Fraud yeah, unfortunately I had a Jetta to my left and couldn’t swerve to avoid it, but I needed that tire replaced anyways.
