Really useful Michael. I was trying new drivers last week from a hitting bay and really loving the flight and carry. Then when I moved to the trackman bay I couldn't hit them. The tee height was really only a quarter of an inch lower that the other bay.

Very interesting. By chancing the tee height, you actually added 21-22 years to your drives with about 10-11 yards added to each of the carry and rollout. It would have been a bit more 'scientific' if there were more swings (5 min) with each height, perhaps done off camera and the data shown afterwards in order to keep the video length reasonable. I realized after watching this that even though I tee it up similarly, I get way too much back spin and need to figure out what my launch angle is and work on that. Thanks!

Hi Mike, implemented your tip and went to a the local store to test out your theory on a launch monitor and simulator. Data showed me that I had better results with a 3.25 inch tee versus a 2.75 inch tee. I gained about 2 degrees of launch and cut about 700 rpm. On course results are confirming the better performance. Thanks for the video!!

Really interesting results. Ive recently changed my driver from the cobra Fly z to the F6 and although the F6 feels faster off the face ive noticed my strike on the face is all over resulting in inconsistency. Have booked a Gc2 lesson with my pro for a weeks time to see whats happening so will be interesting to see if maybe tee height is a factor.

+Mike Hall it your Pro has the HMT attachment to the GC2 then he'll be able to measure your strike like I have done in the video. If he doesn't then ask to use some face tape to track strike. Note, the face tape will reduce backspin by approx 300-600 rpm so you'll have to take that into account when looking at the spin numbers. Good luck.

Try using some foot powder spray. All the benefits of face tape but with the spin number being altered to much.

Thanks for an excellent video supported with great swing data. As my round progresses, I sometimes hit the dreaded pop-up due to hitting down on the ball with the driver. Your explanation was excellent and now I know understand why I hit the pop-ups. I will try impact tape and hitting up into the ball and conduct my own experiment to reduce this mistake and perhaps gain a few yards. Any chance you have a video/data on toe up/down at address with the driver?

I have also started to tee up higher with the driver and the results are brilliant . I also have the head of the club about 2 inches behind the ball also so the head is on its way up before it hits the ball. The launch is very high and when it lands it runs out quite far.

I realize this video is 3 years old, but wanted to add my two bits: I've discovered that my longest drives are not on the sweetest spot, but in fact slightly higher on the face. I will take it, but I'm always a little surprised when I hit one that feels perfect, and find it isn't quite as long as I expected. Any thoughts?

60mm Tees i need XD even thow pink is for girls and boys if i use the orange it gose 30 yrds higher then take that away from distance = not so good i am a up hitter

just put your index finger nail on the ground next to the tee when you practice and use your knuckle as a benchmark. Most high handicappers struggle with consistency off the tee because each tee height is different. Use your finger as a benchmark to practice tee height and take it to the course.

Russell Fothergill Club face was probably closing, imparting the 461 rpm of left spin. His normal shot shape is probably a draw.

Where were the shafts trimmed.Have been told that butt trimming makes a lot less of a difference than tip trimming when flex is concerned.

Garry Grant I was showing the difference from one extreme to another without the video evening too long in length. The pink tee height would have probably sat in the middle with the numbers.

Garry Grant very much depends on your angle of attack. Maybe try them and put some impact tape or foot spray on clubface and see what your strike pattern is like.

How come you didn't hit another one with the lower tee in the middle of the face to get better comparative numbers? If you middle it with the lower tee you would get a much more penetrating flight. And what about on windy days, wouldn't you want that lower flight with the low spin?? Good video overall, just felt it didn't give the full results of the lower tee height too.

Further and farther are interchangeable in British Engish, the former being used most commonly. The different usages, denoting metaphorical distance vs physical distances are disputed by some and based on an opinion, not recorded until the start of the twentieth century. Top video, thanks.
