I've been planing my walk across america using Google maps to find good back roads to walk and bridges with good shoulders to cross rivers. I also try to scope out, good places where I might camp on my route. Nice video.

Very cool. I'm gonna post some more map videos and particularly one about finding stealth campsites while hitchhiking. Let me know if you have any input, I'm sure you've been getting good at it.

I can't thank you enough.. my only concern is not being able to adjust to life on the road. did it take you awhile to adjust and not feel as home sick?

I was itching to go when I left, excited, so I was more focuses on the new places I was seeing and thinking about what could be next. It is nice to visit back east and see some of my friends and family that are still out there, though.

Wow it sounds like it takes usually a bit long to get rides in the US... I think in Brazil you could do 2800km in 3 to 5 days I'd guess but cool video, thanks for sharing!

I've got another video similar to this I'll post this weekend, focusing on how to find a good initial hitching spot. I plan on doing more about specific trips, it's pretty fun, I'm a map nerd for sure. I've hitched in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, that's it for Asia, but they were all pretty easy, especially Thailand. That challenge sounds fun, enjoy! I'll let you know when I'm in Denver next, could be this month, we'll see. Cheers!

Do you always have a device with internet access, or do you just use wifi hotspots?
@HoboLifestyle10 жыл бұрын
Little bit of both. Never when I'm out of the country, but in many places it's easy to find coffee shops, McDonalds or whatever else to sip some WiFi when needed. Maps don't matter as much thanks to offline downloads ahead of time, no internet needed with a little foresight.

Can you refer me to some offline maps sites or apps by chance? I know google maps allow offline maps, but just of small squares of a certain area, and I didn't find it very helpful. And always man, you're an inspiration, thanks for these informative vids. From what I've found you're really the only hitchhiking channel on here, thanks!

Thanks, I love hitching and try to share when I can. Google Maps is my go to still though, they're improving their offline maps all the time and allowing more "squares" to be downloaded at this point, better than it was a year ago. As long as you download spots ahead of time it's fine, I usually just download cities or more congested spots when I know I won't have service. Not sure what else is out there, but I'm sure it will be a huge download if it's comprehensive and offline.
