People actually need to learn what FFP is before commenting, it’s not about preventing clubs from spending big!The main objective of the FFP is therefore to fight against the poor financial health of clubs not about their spending . In other words clubs cannot spend more than they earn (the famous “break-even” rule). The main way that clubs make money is • Ticketing revenue * Sponsorship and advertising revenues * Revenue from broadcasting rights * Income from commercial activities (sale of shirts and merchandise, refreshment stands, etc.) * Solidarity payments and bonuses from UEFA (e.g. bonuses received following the Champions League) * Income from the sale of player registrations (income from the sale of players) * Surplus from the disposal of property, plant and equipment (e.g. sale of the training centre).

Yeah, it’s funny how many people don’t understand FFP yet are all too quick to criticize it for the wrong reasons. It’s largely in place to prevent a club from overspending and going into administration. It does prevent a club from rising quickly but that’s not gatekeeping, that’s again to protect a club from overspending their way into deep financial trouble. City broke the rules to rise quicker than they should’ve but if you look at Newcastle they’re doing it in a more measured, sustainable, and most importantly, legal manner.

Other clubs have been doing similar. Juventus and Barcelona amongst them apparantly. @RafaelSantos-di5yw Жыл бұрын
@@bionicgeekgrrl I think Juve's problem is different, their problem wasn't the salaries, it was the pandemic that led to lack of sales, so with the lack of sales, to get an expected result, they had to reduce costs and the way they did it was to pay the salaries even tho on paper they were just paying a portion of it! Believe FIFA are already cracking down on this. Apparently from next season/season after the maximum contract allowed will be 5 years. The National Hockey League had a problem with long-term contracts as a way to "circumvent" their salary cap. Teams were giving large, long-term contracts that were front-loaded. These contracts would also take the player to at or past 40 years of age. The final few years of the contract would be a fraction of the yearly value (cap hit) such that if the player retired or was bought out, it would cost the team little. Goalie Roberto Luongo had a contract like this. The NHL changed their rules, and back-diving contracts now have cap penalties for the team that signed the player to the contract.

Amortization is fine but there should be rules such as in the NHL like the "Roberto Luongo Rule" Basically penalizing lost value on contracts which were aimed at subverting the rules. Granted in the NHL it was undermining the salary cap rules (by signing a 12 year front loaded pay deal where the player is not reasonably expected to finish the contract) but the principle can be applied to a $100,000,000 contract over 8 years, if player is being sold for $10 million after 4 years there would be a "cost allowance penalty" (not fine) of 37.5 million spread over the voided seasons as that would be the "loss" on the contract value.

How does amortization work when a player is sold? Like, if a player is bought for 10m and 5 years, they claim 2m per year expenditure, what happens if they are sold after 2 years? Do they just claim it as a lump sum of 6m, or is it subtracted from the player sale?
@gm2407 Жыл бұрын
The 'T'ransfer fee and the 'C'ontract value are totalled together and divided over the length in 'Y'ears of the contract that is the 'A'mortization amount per year in a straight line method. (T+C)/Y=A If a player is sold whatever has not been amortized goes to a disposal account and the proceeds of the sale go to the other side of the disposal account. If the transfer fee is more than the remainder of the amortization it goes to the profit and loss account as a profit. If it is less then it goes into the profit and loss account as a loss.

This isn’t really a wild loophole that Chelsea are exploiting to be honest. American sports teams that play in leagues which have salary caps like the NBA or NHL, have stayed under their league’s salary cap limit by stretching player’s salaries over years or by backloading/frontloading salary payments. I think this just further proves how FFP really hasn’t prevented or regulated the things that it was created to do in the first place…

The concept of stretching amortization is not that far fetched. Business buy property, plant & equipment (PP&E) all the time and amortize these assets over different lives depending on their use. A footballer is an asset to a club, and if the club believes the usefulness of the asset is 5,6,7, or 8 years, it is not unreasonable to amortize the cost of said asset for that period of time.

I don't know much about finances in football. But in conventional businesses, amortisation goes hand-in-hand with depreciation accounting. As in, the asset loses value over time and shows up as a loss, albeit gradual one, over its lifecycle. If this isn't the case with football, then that is a pretty large loophole. When a player wind down his contract towards the final year, then he will no doubt be commanding less in terms of transfer fees. I see no downside. If Mudryk doesn’t perform he is still on low enough wages to shift to a lesser club. And if he gets injured the club has a huge insurance contract on him that will pay out. There is really no downside to long term contracts on lowish wages

It seems to me as if Boehly is importing the American way of 'buying a whole new team' each season, as is the case with Baseball. Where all players are up for grabs for all the baseball clubs in between seasons there. In this respect he's going even further than Abramovich did, when he was owner - a huge summer spending spree every three or four years or so. But no desire to radically change the team every summer. It doesn't seem like the best thing for Chelsea FC, and I certainly don't see his (Boehly's) methods or model as being the future for Premier League football. It sounds like a recipe for disaster. No continuity with the evolving of a team over the course of several seasons. Keeping track of all the new players will be exhausting after a while, and likely see season ticket sales plummet. Soon Chelsea fans won't even know who plays for them, and this will be entirely Boehly's fault.

They´ll be making a lot of money in the Summer, Havertz, Pulisic, Ziyech, Mendy, among other will be making Chelsea lots of money, plus players like Jorginho, Azpi, Kante or Auba will be leaving as well, wich is good for the wage budget.

City have spent massively just like Chelsea did before them and so city was sanctioned by FFP twice albeit in the end the AFS who in turn eventually decided in city’s favour at court due to the time frame of paperwork being registered legally which I have no idea why but it certainly wasn’t due to a broken fax machine that united used as an excuse for the David DeGeay transfer to Madrid which collapsed on transfer deadline day 6 seasons again now lol.. Joking aside I’d hazard a guess that money did the talking for sure as some paperwork not submitted suddenly then was submitted and city had the dated paperwork to clear them selves somewhat however still incurred a £35M fine I think the figure was in the end as a settlement between the court and the arbitration for sport mediators so if city wasn’t guilty of all charges they wouldn’t of still had a fine of any figure still to pay if found not guilty in court.. This is a bit like one of Alfie’s videos in that I’ve already gone off topic but the fact I did is because I hope you will one day do a video about this subject as this factual achievement isn’t something to be sniffed at and yet had gone relatively unnoticed for the last 2 seasons with the sports media and even more bizarre that this was a big thing for any clubs to be generating above everyone else as it clearly shows the best business work done by any club in a single year up until coved stopped football for a season and since the restart post coved city have climbed to the top and nothing is really highlighted about this from the media etc.. The work behind the scenes that’s necessary for on how little city became the richest football club in the world in regards to a clubs overall generated wealth for a single April to April tax year which showing the final figure every clubs profit or loss each and every single season.. Coved helped this be a reality massively initially for city over the other top 6 in England as city’s match day ticket prices and total average game revenue generated is half of united Liverpool arsenal and Chelsea are way less than the other Top 5 clubs in England and not counting Newcastle this season.. The end of April 2021 figures which impacted club massively in the other top 5 wealthiest clubs in the world but last April this was without coved losses taken into account and yet city remained top spot after last seasons final figures.. The gap city had to close playing catch up financially whilst also spending huge sums on players,stadium and academy’s upgrades cost a fair few pounds on top so the club had to generate even more revenue some how to remain within the FFP regulations that was implemented within the financial stability for all football clubs not very long after city was taken over and started splashing the cash Willy Nilly so extra methods had to be conjured up some how to tackle this major hurdle that was suddenly put up to halt city’s rapid progress by no other than mainly city’s premier league top 4 rivals who had pretty much had it their own way for the previous decade of monotonous 1/2/3/4 placing each season and auto qualification to next seasons UCL pretty much sewn up season after season which was only going to create an even bigger financial chasm with each season that past between those 4 clubs of Arsenal,Chelsea,Liverpool and United due to bringing in twice as much revenue just in royalties from the ucl alone in comparison to the other 16 teams in the premier league every season so city trying a different strategy and gamble with the sister club growth notion started and with also the recent savvy recruitment policy that city now has in place has me thinking it would make a good video maybe soon.. Especially when you understand the true gulf in revenue necessary to do so makes it an incredibly smart business strategy and gamble by city’s board that’s paid off massively.. City’s figures have been nothing short of remarkable last 2 seasons and the overall generated wealth the huge figures last couple of years for the clubs annual GDP. The huge sums it’s taken for the club to take first place the season before last and first time ever since the clubs take over in 2007.. Man City’s current rise to to the top from the initial crazy spending adding in the notion it was beneficial to then start buying sister clubs in each continent was a genius decision made.. It’s been so successful it’s now being revered by opponents such as Chelsea who are intent to follow this new trend for billionaires at football clubs as it’s now the blue print for others to chance their luck too like Chelsea will now no doubt and copy city’s business plan.. The fact that just over 2 decades ago city was in league 1 and almost in financial ruin to then fast track to 2007 buyout and city being constantly labelled as city ruining football for every other team only then to fast forward again to the April before last 2021 and city have now catapulted to the top of the pyramid for generated wealth.. A football club even after the crazy spending that entailed post city’s take over not to mention the investment in surrounding area and giving jobs to local companies and also to transform the spare land and the surrounding areas of the Etihad stadium has been amazing transformation too so even more amazing and remarkable to think that little city have somehow managed to become first for what each clubs can generate annual in overall profit after tax..GDP.. City went from 187th place in 1999 to top spot April 2021 and in doing so knocked the 2 Spanish giants Barca,Real Madrid beating united’s revenue which was just a pipe dream even 5 years ago let alone beating the mighty Real Madrid,German champions Bayern and most importantly man united to leap frog all 4 of those teams to the top spot the April before last and that position was retained last April and city are still on track this April to do it three years consecutively is simply “IN CRE DI BLE” as Pep would say..💙 Looking forward to the video now Alfie 👊 PS I’ve added some more info to entice you to do a video about this in the comments section of the thread as all information known is better shared so If you don’t ask you don’t get lol unless you don’t actually read you’re comments and theirs another method for sending in video requests that you often state you do for other subscribers from time to time so if you don’t read you’re pages comments maybe someone has an email related to you that I can send a request to you personally otherwise this is the only another way if possibly the same by mail instead of just KZbins comments as I’d imagine most members don’t ever check to read the comments or the amount amount 🤞

Alfie you could even go a lot deeper into sheik mansours business deals which his truly incredible business team with whom he puts all his trust in by attending the day to day necessities running his many different companies with whom he either has a large quantity of shares in or which he owns outright.. Many of these was purchased not long after it was known that the nations oil resources are running out and was the defining factor to why sheik mansour bought a football club in the first place in 2008.. The sheik had his team involved in so many different types of businesses from around 2005 to 2012.. One that stands out a mile is the shares he took out with Barclays Bank I believe was in 2008 where he purchased around 7% of the total shares for Barclays in a one lump sum payment during the banking crisis around the same time period.. Figure for purchase was around £3.5B for a 7% stake of shares valued at £1-53 per share and within 6 months the shares had risen by over 50% to £1-97 and he decided to sell however his team advised to stall this decision for a few more months tops before selling and they was spot with their judgment as the shares continued to rise daily and the resale value just 9 months later made sheik mansour a clear profit as the shares continued to rise rapidly and as they hit the ceiling figure expected by his team just 9 months after purchasing the shares at £1-53 per,7% stake of Barclays stock value at a total cost £3.5B shares only to sell them for £3-02 per share 9 months later for a total fee of £6.6B making him a cool profit of £2.6B for just one 9 months single deal.. This Barclays deal one of many he has but I used this solely as reference with the city take over.. He purchased city in 2008 for a total cost of just £212M and invested a further £1.6B on stadium expansion and full make over inside and out whilst building the best academy facilities in the country and building a university a library and fitness centre and several other specific public learning facilities.. Also half way in to an investment with building the biggest indoor music arena in Europe even though Manchester also has the MEN arena a few miles away.. Next to follow is the gas works which are to go this summer with 2 huge arcades and casinos and a huge hotel and leisure centre will replace them to further completely turn a previously vastly neglected area of east Manchester into a state of the art multi purpose sports and entertainment area which then turns into a night time gambling,comedy and music venues to continue to provide visitors with a full 24 hour non stop entertainment stop over which the planned massive 4700 bedroom hotel will more than cover the estimated amount of visitors who would be planning on staying at the hotel too. Lastly the plans for the Etihad stadium expansion have been given the go ahead to start work in June this year matching the stand expansion in 2015. The delay for this was because the club was indecisive if to move south stand supporters and make one big stand instead of 3 tiers like Tottenham’s new stand however this would cause many more season ticket holders being forced to relinquish their season tickets for half a season minimum maybe the whole season next year due to a reduced capacity which won’t be an issue if they just match the same structure as was completed at the opposite end of the stadium 8 years ago now and will increase the capacity of the Etihad stadium to 62580 over 7k more seats making it the second biggest capacity stadium in England outside of Wembley,one of these stadiums in Manchester and the other stadium in Trafford just outside of Manchester ironically.. Summery :- Sheik mansour since taking control of Manchester City in 2008 has spent in total for purchase of the club.the stadium redevelopment the academy campus construction costs,total players transfer fees paid and and received and salaries totals paid out roughly equates to about £2.9B and his one 9 month deal with Barclays alone generated him a profit of £3.1B thus the Maths will tell you that profit off Barclays deal minus his complete spend at Man City to date shows he still has £200M profit but now owns a football club that currently generates the most GDP annually in the world of football clubs.. Lastly Sheik mansour in 2015 sold a 13% stake of Man City to a Chinese backed consortium for a whopping ££380M almost double what he initially purchased the whole football club just 7 years earlier and then not to be outdone he sold a further 10% stake of city in 2019 to an American private equity company called silver lake for a huge sum of £580M thus the £380M = £960M for just 23% of shares mansour owns the rest entirely and is still the majority share holder and still owning a 77% stake means by deducing the paltry £212M to buy city in 2008 cost him zero pounds for 77% ownership today and a profit of £748M for doing nothing.. And his current stock value for Man City is estimated currently to be worth about £4.2B according to opta statistics this once again he owns the entire CFG chain being the major share holder at every club apart from Yokohama mariners and Troyes fc in France and with both Barclays and city’s full deals combined he’s done this all by costing £0 and generated a profit of £3.4B..Truly incredible business dealing and it’s always so quickly completed never ever a delay or issue because if he has a slightest uneasy decision to decide on he will walk away from a deal every single time with his team just that good they strike whilst it’s hot and Uber night the deals are always finalised within hours not the moths it take with almost every other billionaire business man on the planet as far as I’m aware anyway.. Guarantee it will make a good video Alfie anyway so I’ll be well chuffed if you highlight this as a future possibility maybe cos I reckon now knowing this if you didn’t before then even you can’t fathom out just how he’s managed to achieved all that and made a huge profit spending nothing thus far is unheard of and nothing short of a miracle imo..Cheers !!!

Chelsea are clearly panicking like hell, and the owner has no idea why things aren't working😂🤡 brought in his preferred manager, blown hundreds of millions on players, yet they will be lucky to even make the conference league. Blowing 100mil on a winger with 12 career goals on to a near decade long contract shows you just how little this guy knows what he's doing. Chelsea got greedy when Tuchel somehow worked magic with garbage, and are now paying the price🗑
