There is something fishy about les Bleus. Kicking cats, mothers of players all-over-the-place, strikes, players banned because of insulting Coach, or ordering to break colleauge knees. Moreover, according to what I' ve heard on some interview with Romain Molina few years ago, I got the impression that their youth system seems to be rotten to the core. And mister Molina is still digging. Apparently he just texted that 2nd part of his book will be out, like 22nd of april. I was worried about that journalist for some time. Omitting criminal topics: there was one then youngster, that Kamil Glik (nonbulshit defender, famous for his strong will) mentioned. They met in France and he was especially fond of him. Guy was fast as wind, quick-witted on pitch as well (w/ and w/o ball), already gifted, yet hard working & humble. Kid joined even bigger club, and after few years he needs PRESIDENT of Vth republic himself to warn him, facetiously. I used to admire this kid, back then, when he still played at Stade Louis II. I just hope there are also some instances looking after players, other than fifa or uefa. Especially after youngsters.

A video about Australia's struggle to integrate in the AFC since joining in 2006 is worth mentioning. They had just had a nightmarish U-23 Asian Cup campaign (no goal in the group stage), whereas the U-20 and U-17 teams, like the U-23, have never won a single AFC youth trophy. Their only trophy has been the senior Asian Cup title in 2015 and the ACL trophy in 2014. Even my country Morocco, renowned for also being a major underachiever in Africa until recently, at least won one U20 and one U23 AFCON. Does it have something to do with Australia's overreliance on diaspora footballers?
@samuelschonenberger

I think he talked about before (or maybe it was someone else) but Australian youth football is becoming more pay to get into an academy instead of giving the poorest most determined talents a chance like for example in France
@68Boca
@68Boca Ай бұрын
Diaspora footballers? In the 1970's and 1980's , I'd agree with you/ But those days are long gone in reality Australia's problem is the woeful home league we have. Sure , there will always be 3 or 4 good talents playing overseas, the rest of the national team selection is 2nd rate players, playing in 3rd rate leagues. And this is were the A League comes in. It is a 4th rate league. It has no passion, no development, players are not challenged because they constantly move from club to club on 1 year deals. The wild predictions of huge media deals in the future, never happened. The "Marquee" player system, whilst a positive idea in the beginning, is just a farce. No disrespect, but when Bruno Fornaroli is considered the "best" for many years running, He couldn't even make it for Uruguay. There in lies the problem. The A League isn't focused on creating a legacy or development, it's only interest is in surviving. Football is very very popular, but the A League is dominated by short sighted Execs and populated by old world style fans with their ethnic divides simmering underneath!

Australia’s problems are similar to the US, Nigeria, Ghana, Canada and India, which are devastated by the pay-to-play football. The USMNT represents the exact example of this mismanagement, having a lot of recent talents but none have proven capable at making breakthrough. As long as Australia stuck with the same Americanised system, they will struggle to improve.

Honestly a more comprehensive video about Italy's football crisis is needed. Since 1960s, Italy had never appointed a foreign coach, which had something to do with their past successes. However, this is no longer the case when their last presence in World Cup was in South America and their footballers are struggling to make major impacts, and I believe this had something to do with their extreme conservatism as Italy produced no new good football manager (except for Carlo Ancelotti). In fact, they are even weaker than Albania and Croatia, leave alone Spain.

I think the honorable/dishonourable mentions would have made a better list and been more interesting. Out of the ones included, it seems like Cassano, Ben Arfa and Morrison were the most fitting. I think it would have been interesting if you put Hulk or Quaresma in for wasting their careers chasing a bag when they had the abilities instead. Or players like Munain who could have done a lot more if he just moved to a bigger club.

"Wasted careers" is a bit exaggerated. Most of them accomplished more than 99% professional players did. They peaked in their prime (late teens, early 20s) and then it went downhill, which I think is normal. What is truly rare is for players to have the discipline, professionalism, intelligence and luck to keep that level for another whole decade or so, when things get harder. Also people saying "this guy is gonna be the next... " are idiots.

I would say that Man United have overachieved with the very average squad they had. In 2018 they had 4 world class outfield players with Matic, Pogba, Sanchez and Lukaku and they finished 2nd. Their worst season is this season and they only have Bruno Fernandes as the 'world class' player. The rest are either good talents, or washed footballers.

Regarding ravel Morrison. I saw him play 45 minutes in a Pre season friendly between Brighton and Lazio. And even in half a game in an inconsequential pre season game he is still the most naturally talented footballer I have seen in the flesh. What a waste of a talent.

Still waiting for a video about Kazakhstan's football sportswashing. Its UEFA membership since 2002, despite gross human rights violation and persecution of dissidents, is further capitalised by our European failure (NATO and EU, by contrast, banned Kazakhstan from joining for these reasons) to understand the Astana dictators. UEFA's mishandling of Kazakhstan has fuelled Russia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and China's sportswashing, which had resulted in cases like the 2022 World Cup held by Qatar or upcoming 2034 tournament in Saudi Arabia, and, perhaps, contributed to the Russian invasion of Ukraine as well.

@@burkutkypshakbayev9254 I can't say it's guilty of everything. But since Kazakhstan fuelled sportswashing by joining UEFA in 2002 and their actions have received little attention, we all know where Bin Salman, Al Thani family, Putin and Xi got inspiration from.

@@burkutkypshakbayev9254 I don't say Kazakhstan is fully guilty. But when Kazakhstan joined UEFA in 2002, their membership has been condemned by European human rights councils for years. But since UEFA only wants to appease for money, Europe failed. Thus you know where Bin Salman and Putin learnt inspiration from.

To be hones even managers are to be blamed for wasted careers. For instance when there's a change in the coach, he might have altogether different plan on which the particular player might not fit in however good he may be. As he result the player suffers bench time or even wanders different clubs under loans. This also makes them demotivated and depressed. Hence they will not be able to develop their skills further due to the changing environment. How can one develop their career when they are keep on having to change their colleagues and company every 6 months or so.

galatasaray are known to do incredible business on the transfer market. icardi, torreira, davinson sanchez being a few examples. i wouldnt be suprised if they manage to sign ndombele for around 5-6 mil euros, regardless of his 15 mil release clause. the guy still has a huge potential. all he needs to do is lose the weight and put his mind to the game.
