HITI WIFI

Add WIFI connectivity to a HITI P525L photo printer and update a Windows 10 PC to interface to it.
WARNING - HITI just released version 1.6.10.18 and this method no longer works because the driver install forces a system reboot and never lets you get to the part of the driver where you pick the WIFI interface. You can still change the interface to WIFI after the install, but there are now a few more steps. I will post an updated video soon.

This a great printer. It is too sad the documentation and other information online is so crappy. My printer P525L would connect, but then it would just drop the connection for some strange reason. Now, just by your information for that MISSING - REINSTALL THE DRIVER!!! Everything works seamlessly! You get a thumbs up!! Like and I subscribe. Thank you very much, Sir!

@@firstwhiterose99 Sorry, I don't have any win 7 machines, so I would have no way of helping, and being old, I don't use whatsapp - just email. I ran win 7 in years gone by, but I was already on win 10 when I got the P525L

Hello I purchased this printer and hard wired an iPad to a laptop and wired the laptop to printer. I’m having an issue to where after one print I’m having to unplug the USB in order to print again. Any advice why it would be doing this?

Well, I doubt if I can really help, but I assume that you are trying to create some type of photobooth using the IPad as the user interface and camera and then sending the image over to the laptop (I assume that is over some type of USB connection) to be printed. Since my video was about USB connectivity, I am going to again assume that you have the laptop connected via WIFI to the printer and USB to the Ipad. If that is the case, the first thing I would do is connect the printer via USB and see if you have the same problem. I personally did have a problem with the USB connectivity. When I tried to print two copies of an image via wifi, it would only print one. If I connected via usb, it would print two with no other changes. I assumed that this is a bug in the printers WIFI interface, however, it could also be the HITI driver that is causing the problem. So, I just gave up on WIFI connectivity myself. If you just hook the printer to the laptop via USB and print using some image software on the laptop, do you still have the problem?

@@ModernTableEvents Assuming that you have loaded the latest driver from HITI, it sounds to me like this might be a hardware problem. Can you print to any other printers OK?

@@ModernTableEvents There are both drivers and firmware updates on the hiti website. I would check your system and printer to see if they are at the latest revision. To check, go to Printers & Scanners, select the HITI printer, then printer preferences and then the About tab. It shows you both the driver and firmware versions in one spot.

Are you trying to connect directly between the Nikon and the HiTi or are you going through a computer. I have only used the Hiti with a computer running photobooth software or printing with an app like Photoshop. I read that HITI made the WFT510 which interfaces PictBridge capable cameras like the D5600 with wireless printers, but this device is at least 11 years old now and I am not sure it is even still available. Plus, for me at least, I would hate to use it since you have to go through the menu, pick the picture and send it to the printer. I am always looking for a more automatic method of doing the job.

Yes I am ... so what I’ll have to do is connect Nikon with a device that is also HiTi compatible. I have researched and mostly that is what I see. I’m not sure if that feature is available Witt HiTi and Nikon connections. What dongle are you using? I can’t get printer to connect with WiFi dongle.

@@aprilwatson3800 I use the Edimax N300 - if you watch the video, I show it at about the 3:00 mark, I have also noticed that others have posted a link to www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1450218-REG/hiti_86_gee10_001_wireless_wifi_dongle_for.html and it is marketed as "HiTi Wireless Wi-Fi Dongle for P525L Printer". I have no experience with it but I expect it would work.

How to set up the WIFI with the new drivers that require a reboot and do not give you the option for picking the Ad Hoc WIFI connection. 1. Install the driver with the printer connected to you PC with a USB cable. (normal installation) After computer reboots 2. Install the USB WIFI dongle into the printer port and connect the PC’s WIFI network to it as described in the video 3. Go to ‘Control Panel ‘/ ‘Hardware and Sound ‘/’ View devices and printers’ 4. Right click on the ‘HITI P520L’ printer icon and select ‘Printer properties’ from the dropdown menu 5. At the top of the Properties panel, select the’ Ports ‘Tab 6. Scroll down the list of ports and you should find one of the USB ports checked. If you continue to scroll down, you should find an IP port with a name something like this: ‘ IP_192.168.5.1 Standard TCP/IP Port HITI P520L’. Note that the actual IP address will depend on your network. 7. Check this port and you printer should now be connected to the WIFI. 8. I have notice on my printer that I lose some functionality when connected via WIFI. For one, I can’t see how much paper is used. Also, my photo booth software is set up to print two images, but when connected via WIFI, it only prints one.

I am not sure what to say. The first dongle I tried did not work, but when I tried the EDIMAX dongle, it worked. The specs on both dongles were almost identical. But, I don't use the wifi connection any more because for some reason, I had problems with my photobooth when I tried to print more than one picture. I worked when direct connected, but only printed one image when connected through wifi. Plus, it was about 3 years ago when I did all this, so things might have changed with new firmware downloads. I have not tried to connect to the printer via wifi since I upgraded to Windows 11, but it does still show up as an available device, so I think it is still working.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with any other dnp printers, but I expect that each one will be unique. As for reliability, first - I am not a pro, so my usage is fairly light - I probably go through about 2000-3000 prints a year. I have had 2 HITI printers. My first one failed after about 4 years, but it was probably my fault. The instructions very clearly say not to transport with media installed. One night I had my booth set up at an event and when we packed up, it was pouring down rain. I forgot to remove the paper, ran to the car, and tossed the printer into the car a little harder then I should have. The next day, the paper would not load. And, instead of sending it off to be fixed, I took it apart (that was 4 years ago and it is still apart!). I got the P525 because they were on sale at the time and I figured it would be faster and cheaper then getting the old one fixed. I love this printer. Much easier to load and unload, a little bit faster, holds 500 prints at a time, and it makes great prints.

I took a look at the DNP DS620A users manual (one of the higher end DNP units) and it does not seem to support WIFI at all. It does not have the additional USB port needed to plug in a WIFI module.
