In the unlikely event I ever take up 40K, Tyranids would likely be my army of choice because painting Space Marines would bore me to tears. I love H.R. Giger's Xenomorph artwork and although I'm sure it's been done? I'd do mine up in either classic 1979 Alien style or maybe Alien 3 style (the more red brown look). Stan Winston & crew took that design and ran with it, and it was great, IMO!

Always love your painting videos, and this is perfect for painting tyranids, few paints, few steps, I am curious, if you were painting guns in this these, would you also blacken them and do the hull red as well? or have something else in mind? Leviathan bio guns are red, so makes me wondering what you'd do

I think a mix of the pink used for the joints etc, and then red on any carapace on it. Possibly airbrush blend the tips to red on the bigger guns

Hey Henry - Such a great video and scheme! Thank you for doing it. I have a question for you though, Id love my Leviathan Nids to have more of an off white skin colour rather than pink, Can i ask what you would do for a base coat + oil wash combo to achieve this?

honestly i'd do the albino skin recipe that i did for the recent Seraphon video and then use the same pink wash from this one.

one last question about the use of thinner for the airbrushed paint mixtures, what are you using? and would vallejo airbrush thinner work ok possibly?

Vallejo would be fine. I use that of lifecolour for all my water based acrylics.

Any recommendations for an acrylic wash instead of the oils? My partner really hates the smell whenever I use oil washes.

Might want to take a look at an odorless mineral spirit, sometimes also sold as eco spirit, those are less neasty. Or a bit more expensive but almost completely oderless; Gamsol. Those mineral spirits are also more healthy to use inside then a normal spirit as the odorless spirits spread less toxins when evaporating, although with the small quantities used in minature painting I'm not sure if that matters a lot. Non the less, maybe you can use oil washes with those anyway!

I'd you've got another off white that works better I'd switch to that. I doesn't really make.ajy difference colour wise.
