Hi . Just watched your video on the old hive and the mini. I have a valiant combi eco tec boiler , heating and hot water but no tank. Would you still go for the mini ? Or Is there a better stat for heating only ? I fitted a hive active V3 wireless heating smart thermostat, then took it out because the display went out after about 5 seconds and it was heating and hot water. To many options to scroll through. Any advise. Many thanks Martin.

Im sure vaillant will have their own controls which would be more optimal for your exact system (might be worth ringing them to see what they have to offer). However I will always back up the Hive, solid technology and the simplicity of the app is to die for

Hi I have a conventional boiler just for central heating with an old nest thermostat. I want to change this thermostat to a Hive but not sure if I should get a combi hive system or conventional hive system. We will probably have to get a new boiler in the near future so I would prefer if we didnt have to upgrade the Hive when we do. Can I buy the combi Hive system and use it only for central heating ? Thanks in advance!

Yes you can. It's just simply a case of wiring the receiver in the correct way.

Hi, Already have the original one, want to buy another thermostat for multizone, can work origina and mini together?
@iheat6 күн бұрын
I'm afraid you'll have to speak to Hive on this one, not something I'd be clued up on. I'd recommend just using TRV's for this issue, most likely cheaper too

Is the receiver next to the boiler the same for both models? I’ve seen videos that show how easy it is to switch my current British Gas one for the Hive
@iheat6 күн бұрын
Hey the receiver is rather similar but not the same. We cannot recommend you install the receiver yourself but there are plenty of videos out there that will show you how, but please do at your own risk

hi can I have one original thermostate in kitchen /dining and 6 more mini in other rooms can this work as system together ? I have try buy this on hive website but it docent let me mix thermostats when choosing multizone thx

6 thermostats??? That sounds a lot! I would recommend the one thermostat with smart TRV's on each radiator. This would then act the same but A.) not cost as much and B.) be less messing around with receivers etc at the boiler

Does this HIVE controller/thermostat/system offer the ability to A) run the controller in parallel to the existing timer/controller (we leave our house with people that dont use apps staying that need to just be able to press the boost button for heat/hot water) B) operate with zigbee/hive window sensors to change the behavior if there's a door/window open (so for example run at 21'C but if window is open run at 19'C) - if it does can i just create alerts based on a window/door being open at 11PM (to make me aware we left a window open before going to bed) C) can i have 2 thermostats if I only have one already - so in the lounge I have a log burner that we only use in winter - so I'm looking for a rule that the heating can come on if the bedroom is cold even if the lounge is boiling

A.) In theory it could be possible to run in parallel but it depends on compatibility with your specific boiler and set up. Would definitely speak to Hive about this along side the other two questions. B.) With window sensors there must be a smart way of doing that with IFTT if not inside the Hive app itself. C.) I think with the log burner it would cause issues if your existing controller is in the same room as it. Otherwise you could keep the Hive in your bedroom to work off that temperature.

There is a hub vs hubless versions, what will i lose if i chose hubless as its cheaper however i like the flexibility go switch on off gesting remotely via internet
@iheatАй бұрын
hubless means you can only control it from the thermostat, hub means you can control from anywhere with internet. Definitely worth the extra money!

How do you swoop one for the other?

Hey to swap a mini to the original, turn off the mini and receiver, turn receiver back on and hold button till it searches for new thermostat. Then put batteries in original and wait for them to pair.

Does Hive Original have the same smart features as the mini for iPhones
@iheat7 ай бұрын
Yes all features are the same, its just the form factor and convenience of the mini. All features from the Original are now inside the app of the Mini
