The Hive Mini is set up out of the box for use with a Hub, the method of operation as described in this video is "standalone mode" as explained at the end of the installation instructions .

ordered a hive mini, my existing wiring is on a Honeywell receiver, mains are N&L as the Hive, the switching wires are A&B, should I use your method to wire the Mini receiver?

This is a real problem I have been having. All manufactures are changing to smart controls which all have good and bad point and in general are more complicated. I find a lot of people don't want smart. They just want simple. Which I am totally on board with. I am trying to find a simple control which believe it or not this is simple control.

I am trying out the new Drayton Digistat RF901, Video to come. But that has some not intuitive setting for manual operation, which is very frustrating. Honeywell T3R has become very unreliable which is also frustrating.

Hi, Mark. I'm pretty confident that I can replace my WR1 with the Hive receiver - it looks as if it'll just literally drop on - but am unsure as to what to do with the old British Gas (Drayton DigiStat) thermostat. If I were to do away with it, would I need to make any wiring connections? Is it best to simply leave it where it is and forget about it, since it will no longer have a WR1 to talk to? Lastly, would I still need the small grey gadget (again, a British Gas-branded thing) that's connected directly by an Ethernet cable to my broadband router?

Hi Mark, great videos on the hive installs - ive wired mine in and all conected to the phone etc - (stand alone boiler Y set up with 3 way valve) - green lights coming on for water or heating as they should on the receiver - but heating only is not firing the boiler - water only is bringing hot water and heating on together - what have o done wrong? any help please.

Just bought my first house and I’m trying to install my Hive mini set up into the existing ideal iMini boiler. It’s already set up with a Drayton Digistat+2 which is connected with a three chord flex but the earth wire isn’t connected to anything. My question is - will everything work fine if I just replace the Drayton with my hive and use the three chord flex and wire it up as you’ve shown ? What’s the benefit of using the switch wires ?

When I turn green button on it does not turn my boiler on and off? Any ideas where the problem could be ?

Great video as usual. Do you still need a live, neutral, and earth to the boiler, to power the boiler. Thanks.

Yes you do

You should just cut one wire out and use only one* don’t make a habit of turning two cables ‘into one’ as you say 😂. fantast vid regardless!

Can you use these to replace an old Honeywell thermostat?
@MarkBallardLTDHeatingEngineer11 ай бұрын
yes and no. If you want to remove an old thermostat off the wall and replace it with this in the same place, then NO. If you want to remove an old thermostat off the wall and find the wiring centre and wire the receiver unit in there, then Yes. Watch my other video How to Install Hive Thermostat Mini on a Traditional system. Coming Soon.

Very informative and well explained. However, I can’t stop thinking you look like one of those prisoners in the US 🇺🇸 that wear the orange boiler suit and chains. You ain’t got your ankles chained together under the table have you?! 😛

I’ve downloaded the iPhone Hive app and I can’t find the thermostat mini anywhere on there so I just hit a dead end with scheduling. Really poor app in terms of not being intuitive. I’m not a tech genius but I’m not a technophobe either.

Same here! So frustrating, no idea how to schedule my heating with the mini and app
@invisiblekid992 күн бұрын
You can't use the app and JUST the mini with the receiver. You need the Hive Hub.
