Weyland Yutani's Finest SUV in plastic form, big and expensive, but a bit wishy washy in the paint job department.

I would have taken that appart and scratch made as much as possible parts that are missing. Printed weapons etc. Drilled out all of the buttons and used fiber optic lighting in them. And put that in my model displaycase. As it is i dont know...

"Brown Bess" was the name of the Humbrol paint used for the Marine's gear, not the name of the rifle. That would be: "M41-A Pulse Blaster".

You are correct it was the M41-a Pulse Rifle, Brown bess was a nickname given to the prop rifle by a prop reproduction company.

@@PitstainHobbies I didn't know that. Probably because of the Humbrol paint I assume. Very nice APC. Much too expensive for me but it tickles my inner child/nerd sense for sure..

From a bit of a distance like a few feet away it looks great but up close it could use a nicer paintjob.

Why so much cheap plastic? I'd expect SOME diecast for that price. As for colour, as soon as I saw it, immediately WRONG COLOUR. The whole vehicle screams TOY PLAYSET, not collectable. It's got that plastic vehicle GI Joe toy feel. Even the lighting is the wrong colour. The operations station on the interior, instead of blank blue lit screens NEEDS little transparencies of Marine status, etc, the moulded grills on the side, need dremelling out and small mesh pieces placed in. As a blank canvas for modding, it's good, but as a out of the box collectable it's shonky as hell. Fiddly weak plastic lap straps, and interior wise (after looking at my Alien Blueprints book) it's actually incorrect on the interior. There are seats behind the driver seat, not a gun rack. The guns were stored in the roof.

yeah it's far from perfect and I plan to do a repaint some day but from a few feet away in a display case it looks "ok". Also they did release a few different repaints of this and this is the first edition, so likely reason the issued repainted versions later.

@@PitstainHobbies I'm absolutely assured you'll do a tip top custom mod of this model! Really looking forward to it! As a basis for modding, it is excellent, but needs real tweaks to get it right. Have you got the Alien Blueprints book? It's a bible for anyone wanting to model anything from the Alien universe as well as a fascinating insight into the designers minds.
