Thanks for the explanation! I had problems with using aluminum case ammo bcuz since the material is much softer than brass, the case wouldn’t extract after the shot since the aluminum would mold into the flutes in the chamber.

I own 1 preban Mp5SD and 2 Sp5's and run Wolf or steel all the time for range use of course use brass for defense ammo for well defense use lol. Anyway shot about 3kr of steel thru my Sp5 and Sp5 k and have NO problems I just clean em after a few hundred rounds and don't do mag dump after mag dump. Again like he stated cleaning is the key when using steel or any ammo for that matter. I found all quality built guns like my HKs, Sigs, FN's, IWI and so on are built like tanks they run and run and last a very long time.

What about Federal Hydrashock hollow points? Sellier & Bellot hollow points? I've heard there are feeding issues (commonly causing double feeds). These are "major" manufacturers and "quality" ammunition. Not steel cased Tula crap.

what about hollow points and flat nose projectiles? I mainly run 147gr lawman by CCI in my PCCs and have had no issues in my other PCCs; but haven't had a chance to take my SP5 out for a test drive since it was acquired during the Covid pandemic. Have you had any issues with running flat nose rounds or hollow points through the mp5 platform?
@HKShootingwithDerekG4 жыл бұрын
absolutely no problems with factory flat nose.....I have seen some folks have issues but can't say if they were factory or reloads....most problems with HKs come from people using junk ammo/reloads
@boss350z54 жыл бұрын
@@HKShootingwithDerekG Gotcha. I was actually able to run it last week and got it zeroed using 147 lawman flat nose and also ran 50rnds of speer gold dot hollow points with no problems. My wife ran into one failure to eject on the 1st mag; but we determined it was user error as she has a tendency to ride the charging handle rather than allow it to go home with full force. Literally the only malfunction out 250 rnds we ran through it that day. Thanks again for the reply.

Kind of late, however I've ran into issues with the DHS speer ammo. The elastomer has deformed when hitting the feed ramp and hanging up. Only had that happen 2 times out of a 50 shot test.

From what Mr. G says at 3:14 of that video, the SP5 has the enhanced F-model recoil assembly (updated from the standard recoil assembly in 1998) for the high pressure loads the French were using. We’ve also got HK individually QC-tested pistols so all of us should be good to go with +P loads. 👍🏻😀 Just a side note, I should be joking the SP5 family soon too! 😆

John Partridge hi John, give it a try. I believe the Syntech PCC round is optimized for 16” rifles....give it a try and see if it works as it won’t hurt your HK. Some of the Syntech didn’t like a few friends MP5s but I can’t say that it’s great or terrible

There is a screenshot of an email allegedly from HK customer service where they are responding to someone asking about SBR-ing a SP5 and they state if the SP5 is engraved, the warranty is voided? Do you have any thoughts on this?
@iwillnotcomply0074 жыл бұрын
@@HKShootingwithDerekG I wondered if there is some functional difference between the end cap or pistol brace and any of the many MP5 stocks out there as far as buffers go or something else I was unaware of. I'm also fairly ignorant of NFA items so I was curious if dealing with and warranting NFA items introduced more legal headaches than it was worth. Thanks for your time and videos. Very interesting stuff.

@@iwillnotcomply007 MP5 end cap and A2 have no buffer but A3 does.....other crap out there that differs is clone or rigged for .556. NFA is a beautiful world and worth doing your research. Warranty is overrated on HK because you'll probably never need it!!! I have yet to meet a live human who sent a 90 series gun to HK for warranty work....I'm sure a few exist but there isn't anything you won't be able to fix unless you really wear out the receiver....that's a lot of ammo!!!!!!
@HKShootingwithDerekG4 жыл бұрын
iwillnotcomply007 guys, I deleted his post and I will these if the wheels go off track here....read your NFA laws and for goodness sake engrave your gun if you form 1 it......if that isn’t easily understood then SBR route should not be taken by that individual period
