Man great tutorial, I watched several other videos and none were as complete as yours. I even got a small punch that made it easy. One thing I did do to mine was spray WD40 on the threads because I couldn’t move the sight. Once I sprayed WD40 on the sight it immediately started turning. Then at the end I kept my finger on the bearing that I would have lost and then reapplied my drum sight. Thanks, Daryl

Fantastic video! Made installing the diopter drum on my SP5K-PDW a breeze. Any chance you could do a front sight install video as well? I plan to run iron sights and want to replace my front sight with a tritium post, but there really aren't any videos explaining how to do it.
@teufelshundtactical8 күн бұрын
Thanks. It’s even more simple. Drive the roll pin that secures the front sight out from the front, push out the sight insert. Push in the new sight insert. Drive the roll pin back in from the rear.

I have a clone, a MAC5. Love it, has been super reliable. Now around 300 rounds with no problems. However it shoots about 1.5" low. I have tried the HKParts tool w/ the screwdriver and also with snap ring pliers. I'm more successful using the snap ring pliers and I can see the detents fully pressed inwards. However, for the life of me the turret will NOT turn freely like I see in your vid and other similar ones on YT. Do you have any guesses why I'm having this issue?
@teufelshundtactical12 күн бұрын
Without seeing what you are seeing, when the turret will not rotate, it is because one or both of those detents is not being disengaged to allow free movement.

I wish I saw this video first. I found a different video that didn't use the tool like this but a bit from another tool to slide off the castle and slide on the drum without releasing the captive detents. I didn't know they were spring loaded and would fly across the room. I thought maybe they were captive by another way but was wrong. I found the small detent but completely lost the spring. Any idea where I can find a spring?

I added an AimPoint T2 sight on Scalarworks 1.5 mount on SP5K. Question - were you able to sufficiently adjust rear sight so you could use it? I have raised the rear castle but as high as it can go without falling off. Despite this, it still is not high enough we’re I can use it with front sight to aim. T2 zero is perfect. I just would like to use iron sights also. You have been a great help to me on other questions that got me comfortable enough so I purchased the SP5K. I absolutely enjoy using it. It is my favorite firearm.

Hello Teufelshund, there is a little misunderstanding how the sight finds its four positions. It does it not with these two bushings. There is a spring and a ball underneath the sight with are putting pressure on the receiver. Thats how it is indexing. Remove the setscrew, lift up the sight and you see the spring sticking out.
@teufelshundtactical3 жыл бұрын
You are correct in that there is a small ball bearing and spring, but you are incorrect in your understanding of how the drum rotates and locks into each of the four positions. It is through the spring loaded plungers I described.

This is kind of an unusual question, and I kind of doubt someone has ever asked you this before, but *is there any reason one could not use the castle drum sight on the G3 or HK33 rifle instead of the normal ranged diopter ones that come on those rifles?* I'm simply wondering if one of the castle sights allowed enough adjustment to be zeroed out to 200 or 300m maximum. I would think it would, but I notice the castle sight seems to be slightly shorter than the G3/HK33 diopter sights height-wise. Again, I know this is weird. I understand you would lose the ability to quickly adjust for 200, 300 or 400m by replacing the diopter with the castle sight...but sometimes I have a hard time seeing 300m targets using the diopter sights if the target itself is a really dull color, or if the visibility that day on the range in general is just not very good. I've used the "V" notch of the G3 diopter out to about 200 and it is ok, but I like the more pronounced U notches on the SP5K/MP5K PDW castle sight, especially the one that is very narrow and deep. They just seem to be more simple for my eyes to see and use sometimes than the G3 diopter sights. Just wondering if this was possible. Thanks.
@teufelshundtactical4 жыл бұрын
It will fit, but there would be no conceivable reason why you would want to mount one. The G3 already has a v-notch setting for close targets.

@@teufelshundtactical I finally got it working. I found that if I rotate it so it is halfway in-between detentes, where I have access to both detentes without having to rotate it under flat even pressure, it is much easier. With both detentes exposed, and downward pressure with the tool, you just press each detente with a punch until you hear it click. Holding downward pressure, then rotate the drum down.
@FancyGothicKnight88 Жыл бұрын
My drum sight is kinda hard to rotate. Did I screw is down too far?
@teufelshundtactical Жыл бұрын
Without seeing it, I don't know. I would suspect you either do not have the threading lined up or have not properly captured one or both of the detents prior to rotating the drum all the way on.
