Why when I push control G it merges all the letters and holes to one solid piece instead of disappearing and keeping the letter holes

Ctrl+G is the group command. You may have more pieces that you thought selected. Using Shift + select allows you to pick the individual parts.

@@HLModTech I am having the same exact problem. I get the boxes over the letter holes, select them individually using 'shift' to grab them all, hit control+G and all it does is group the 4 cubes together. It does not give me the shapes of the insides of the letters. I have paused, hit rewind, watched over a dozen times. I know I am following every step per the video but it's not working. My granddaughter is due in a few weeks and I really need to get this done. Please help!!!!!

What is the benefit of dropping the newly created parts halfway below the work plane?

The SVG export tool exports at the workplane level... by lowering the part a smidge I guarantee the export works as expected.

Nice you read my question but can you also show the printed result cause this is confusing :) I expected a wall inside the object not on the 1.0 mm object :) enlighten us with the printed result please.

Traveling this weekend makes printing a problem. You could do the wall on the inside but it makes less room for the electronics.

Ok thanks, now tell me how you do other letters in the english alphabet like "P" or "e" or "O" because if you outline it thats all it does in the literall sense- outlines it, it misses the internal bits like the hole in the p etc. How do you do that?.

You could just drop the "outline" we put on the surface into your "base" and set the height to match the base. Does that sound like a workable solution?

@HLModTech Hi, I worked it out last night so I take it back. You do mention it in another video but you glossed right over it. Easy done but it seems to be getting quite afew people. For everyone else, when you're in oneshape highlighting the outline, if you zoom right in, I mean real close to the inner holes of the letters, so it fills the screen if you have to, and hover over the middle of the inner outline, they will highlight just the inner outlines and then they will extrude with the outer outline. Make sure the inner hole outlines are highlighted like the outer outline. If it won't highlight for you zoom in more until it will. Folks are clicking on the outer outline and wandering why the inner outline in letters with holes in them won't highlight for them with the outer outline but you have to zoom right in close to the inner holes and highlight the inner outlines separately to the outer ones. You did it in another video but didn't explain it and didn't seem to have to zoom in close to do it but maybe that's due to size differences. This explanation should be in the led neon box light video but alot from that are here aswell judging from the comments.

@HLModTech I use a laptop and on mine unless I zoomed right in to the inner holes every time I'd go to click on the inner outline it wanted to highlight the flat parts but wouldn't do the inner outlines as seperate parts to that unless I zoomed right in close even though I could see the gap zoomed out anyway. I was reading the comments as you do to see if others had problems like this and I was relieved to know it wasn't just me but then I cracked it with precision guess work and reckoned that's more than likely what's going on for them too. Something like that is probably not something that's likely to be found out without us talking together about it like this I feel. We all benefit from it. Thanks for your part. I did this with the help of your video having never ever had success doing anything in a cad program ever!. I could never ever get my head around it. So big thanks to you from me.

Why would you make a tutorial Video like this and not finish it. It does not have the holes cut out. All you did was make a outline of the holes on the top, of the top plate. But instead of finishing the project you used the last min and half of the video for your own plug.. Also there were many steps you failed to cover. Just because you understand it, does not mean everyone else will.. this video get a poor review.....

Are you stating that you want the holes on the inside of the Sign? My goal was to leave more room for the LED's by only having the holes appear on the outside.
