In fact, the kids are probably the main reason she stayed as long as she did. (The kids seem actually well-adjusted and normal compared to Gene being such a monumental turd). What a "healthy" relationship haha. I was in a very emotionally and mentally abusive relationship for over years. Less than a decade but still far too long. It honestly is hard to leave someone that you deeply love and care about and just hope will change. But they don't change. Being with that person turned me into someone that was not me. I had so much hate, sadness, resentment and so on, bottled up inside of me. I finally walked away from that toxic mess and felt a huge weight lifted off of me. You have to be selfish sometimes.
