Excellent, thanks for stitching this all together in one video. It is not that hard to get off the ground with HLP. Done wonders for my son. His bat and hand speed is vastly improved and his confidence in the box has gotten a ton better as well.

Watched your podcast with Teach! I did the same thing as you by just learning all his stuff from the free content he provides. It’s refreshing to see a solidified HLP instructor creating content! This is a great spark notes version of all his stuff, but also includes a lot of important details. I appreciate all your work brother and you’ve gained a sub with me.

I’ve been all in and it’s working for my boy especially, but also my team I coach. Excited to see others that have bought in and how you teach. Despite having the course I’m always looking for angles to teach it since everyone’s different. Great video! And appreciate the efforts and quality. Hope your channel grows quickly!

Great job AJ! I'm lucky enough to have Justin from @GritNJ for my kids one on one's who keeps us on the path, it's essential that you have that independent eye and video work to back up what you're doing wrong and right. This is not an intuitive approach to hitting (at least not for us old school dads) until you "feel it". Then you just wanna chase that feeling cuz theirs nothing better. Keep up the great work, your insights I'm sure make all the HLP trainers better.

Question: my 10u son currently does a no stride non-HLP swing. He hits the ball hard but has problems with timing which I think are related to the no stride…so I am thinking of adding a stride. I’ve also contemplated working on HLP but try out season is coming up and I don’t want to screw him up too much! Would it make sense to integrate the HLP load/stride with his current swing (ie no hand pivot) then work on the rest of HLP over the winter? I feel like the load/stride could be used with any swing type…am I right?

The “hand pivot” is the huge flaw in this “pattern.” You break the kinetic chain of power transfer with that movement. And, you will be more likely to eventually break the hook of the hamate bone in your bottom hand. That movement as taught does not allow for a smooth transition to follow-through.

@anthonyj9787 what is the old heads way? And why isn't it effective or efficient anymore?
@anthonyj9787
@anthonyj9787 Ай бұрын
@@MichaelLoves2024 knob to the ball, staying on top of the ball, swinging down, “poop in the plunger”. These ways were never really efficient but they “worked” for some time. But pitching has changed, these methods just don’t work anymore. Old heads should be happy/excited that baseball is evolving and these great people like the channel host are putting in the work to figure these things out and provide us with the data they find. Instead it’s about “our way will always be the only right way” from old heads.
@MichaelLoves2024

@anthonyj9787 Other than terminology, how has pitching changed? Given the opportunity, would you pick this channel for batting lessons over Barry Bonds? These channels need new content, so they develop "better" strategies. It is a big market.

Your ability to explain and demonstrate the HLP is light years ahead of the self proclaimed “Teacher Man”. His philosophy of hitting appears to have merit, but he is a highly flawed human being. With his combative and acerbic personality, it’s almost impossible to take him seriously. He comes across as a bitter old man, who hates the rest of the world. When he finally exits the scene, l feel people with more approachable personalities, like you, will have a much easier time carrying on his legacy. He’s his own worst enemy, and saddly, his complete lack of self awareness prevents him from recognizing that fact. I welcome your more reasoned demeanor and can’t wait for Richard to disappear from the scene. People treat him like a clown because he boorish and acts like a clown. He’s a joke, but his insights are legitamate. It’s time for him to pass the torch.

He's a show don't tell kind of guy. He means well. I've communicated with him myself. He's a really nice guy who is very down to earth he just is very passionate about the fact that most of the coaching community has it wrong.

@@optimalpowerperformancepp here dont know any better, they are just looking for help and they believe anything they are told, you are very good at demonstrating what you believe, but it doesn’t mean is true or even ok. I actually played pro baseball for 8 years, coach and scouted for the Metsfor three and I can say without a doubt, this is not what you suppose to teach for hitting. It makes absolutely no sense, but until ppl get a real notion on hitting guys like you will continue to ruin kids career.
@optimalpowerperformance
@optimalpowerperformance 4 ай бұрын
@@814Elite10U hmm. Maybe a quick google search and reviewing our testimonials/reviews would help you see that there may be a better way to swing a bat then how you did? Maybe all the pro guys doing this right now aren’t stupid? Maybe all the kids we are helping and who are moving on to higher levels aren’t getting worse? Maybe, you just hate the method or the presentation… but it’s very hard to argue real results.
@814Elite10U
@814Elite10U 4 ай бұрын
Dude your presentation is great, is what you make them believe, I would fall for it too if I didn’t know, but I do know better and I can say with certainty that this method is trash/garbage not good. How can you actually look at kids doing that and say “yup thats a great swing, thats the way you should hit” are you serious? Do better man, be serious!
@optimalpowerperformance
@optimalpowerperformance 4 ай бұрын
@@814Elite10Ubecause instead of just ruling it out without actually trying it. I tested the method with myself and other hitters first. As time went on, it was obvious that it was great. As hundreds of hitters began to improve. So I put my feelings and emotions aside (even tho I didn’t like how the drills looked at first) and actually applied the methodology with a large group of people over a large period of time. Who knows, if you actually did that maybe you would be more open minded to the idea.
