I notice it's not mentioned if all the ships of the carrier fleet are British, & whether this group is considered adequate to be effective. Is this more of a "British led strike group"?
@ScienceChap
@ScienceChap 3 жыл бұрын
It's a British strike group. At It's core is a UK carrier battle group which could comfortably defeat most nations on earth if required. It is augmented by USN and Dutch ships, but is ultimately capable of operating alone.
@thomilsvlog4544
@thomilsvlog4544 3 жыл бұрын
@@ScienceChap Not really. The Royal Navy is severely lacking in escort vessels, namely frigates and destroyers. At the moment, the Royal Navy has just six destroyers and twelve frigates. Given the number of standing deployments, both as part of NATO and due to the UKs own overseas commitments, as well as the fact that a certain number of these escorts will invariably be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance and/or refit, there are simply not enough vessels around to provide a Royal Navy only escort screen for even one of the carriers.

@@williammorley2401 why? It's not the first time one of the UK's F35 fleet has failed, last time was because a bird flew into the air intake. Also the navy have a habit of covering up incompetence, remember how they buried the news about HMS Sheffield being sunk in the Falklands because one of the watch officers was having a cup of coffee, the other on the toilet, and the senior Royal Navy officers had such a superior attitude they didn't believe the Argentines could carry out a long-range attack on a RN ship. It is this arrogant incompetent attitude that gets good men killed.

Now it is back at port it might be time to gift all the F35's to Ukraine. A few re-fueling stops at friendly NATO countries & the planes could be there in a day. Then modify the new carriers to operate aircraft that American & NATO armed forces actually want.
