@abrahamdozer6273
@abrahamdozer6273 3 жыл бұрын
@@tomtdh4903 Sea Ceptor does a different thing. If it's "enough" why does the Type 45 carry two Phalanx, The Queen Elizabeth carriers each carry three and the upcoming Type 26s will get two each. If they're not necessary because you've got Sea Ceptor, why waste all that money? The Type 23s are unusual in the World for missing that layer of defence. If the ships of the Falklands task force had been equipped with them , a lot fewer would have been lost. It was a "new" weapon around that time.

How times have changed. All credit to the crews for their hard work - but it is a sign of changing times that a 7 month cruise is now considered a long deployment. When I joined the standard overseas deployment was two years and in recent 20th century history deployments to the Far East ranged between 3 to 5 years (and no possibility of a cheap flight home and no social media for Facetimes, etc. I think on the whole, that's a big improvement for crew and family welfare.

Building both Type 26 and 31 frigates is brilliant on the part of MoD and RN; hopefully costs can be controlled. Don't know if the Canucks or Aussies don't have enough bean counters but their Type 26 costs are sky rocketing! Good job pale Brit-folk! hee hee. Meanwhile the Canadian CSC Type 26 might start cutting steel in 2024? The Aussies need to jump start and order a few more Hobarts and start training sub crew and engineers ASAP. Canadian naval shipbuilding costs are 55% higher than in the US.

So proud of our ship builders. These carriers are only second to the US. Let’s not mention Russia’s rust bucket. You can see nothing how well armoured they our. Its will have cost at least another 100 million to send the carrier group to the other side of the world and back. And losing aircraft is what happens when you scrap your carriers for a decades and have to re-learn how to operate from carriers. Which is actually what the deployment was all about.
