Louise doesn't seem to realise she's in someone else's house who's working directly against their disorder to change her whole environment and is losing things she's attached to. Yes she's battling her OCD to be in Sarah's house, but she gets to walk away, no one's coming into her house and making her cope with the the things that she finds confronting. It'd be equivalent to letting someone go to her house and directly confront the most distressing parts of her disorder by making her (and doing it themselves as well) wipe something filthy on things like the door handles and toilet seat, fill up rooms with stuff, and then make her tolerate not cleaning the house obsessively. She'd likely really struggle with it, bargain, and resist just like Sarah. Sarah could no more stop having symptoms because she "should" and it would benefit her than Louise could, they don't just go away because of pressure, logic and wanting things to be different.

I decluttered my Old friend house (over 20years of hoard) and deep cleaned her late father flat (over 70years of hoarding). I loved it. I recycled around 80% of her father belongings and almost all of hers. It was like a treasure hunt but have to admit not always easy and often deeply frustrating

People often ask in these shows as to why aren't the grown kids doing anything......I have a parent who hoards and I had to clean out a whole lot of garages you hire because that parent could no longer afford to pay for them.......My whole life growing up my home was filled with clutter. ...It's like a drug addict that you can only help them out so many times before you can't do it anymore......We grown kids also have our own families and homes that we need to take care of........If U clear it out then they will clutter it up again so sometimes it's easier just to leave them in the mess.

Totally agree. My mum is exactly like what you described. My elder sister always has fights with her because she's the one who constantly cleaning mum's mess. Well I won't because I realised it sooner that she would do it again and again. She's in her 60s now and there's nothing you can do about it. Harsh to say that, just wait until her departure and we will clean the whole house and sell.

That was a very clean hoard. I'm sure it was dusty, but it wasn't filthy at all. She just had too much stuff in too small a house. She really needs a storage unit to house all her stock and she needs to make sure she's selling it too. I have to say, when it was finished, that Sarah has some very beautiful china and glass. No one seems to want such things anymore. It's such a shame.

I am about 1/100th of Sarah clutter but because of age and physical limitations I need someone like Louise to come in and help. Unfortunately I am in Canada and can't find anyone who would like the job. I have only been in my house 2 years, have had traumas to deal with and just need some organizing help. 🤷♀️

There are people who have You Tube channels who would help with your situation. Or Google 'professional declutterers.'

I think that Sarah held on to so much stuff was because it represented a past that made her very happy. These folks should be commended for doing what they did. When I watch these Shows, it motivates me to do some cleaning. I'm not a Hoarder but what I do is make sure that stuff is organized before bedtime and the like.

Condensing all the stock into boxes and rails in 1 bedroom would be most helpful, it's not jumk or dirty rubbish like most hoarders, just help her box it up and get rid of useless stuff but throwing away 80% of her belongings is not fair.

Louise I totally get ur point .. even I don’t usually go to other people homes like this but if I hv too , I don tell them what to keep n what not .. if that hoarder s not ready to let stuff go just let her go n enjoy ur hygienic germ free life girl .. but I do hv one concern Louise why don’t u wear gloves while doing so .. u r not in ur home n u shud use them if u hv an OCD

What's the point in not using a toilet seat, also telling a kid to take their shoes off, if it was a nice carpet? I'd agree, but since it is a hardwood/vinyl, it can be easily mopped, 5 seconds of air
