I like pretty empty spaces so when you added the shelves and started putting bits on I was confused because to me it looked like you were just adding more things that would need to be maintained but then you described how empty spaces make you feel and it makes sense. You do such a great job of explaining things 💜

I have always been impressed by how you practice working with yourself - slowly and safely optimizing rather than trying to force a habit change that is totally against your natural brain operation. Those of us with ADHD know how impossible it feels when people suggest to just replace or change a habit! You've definitely leveled-up since discovering your clutterbug organization type 🦋 You are always an inspiration, Miss Heart! 💜🦄

I have to share that I stumbled into your channel and immediately binged that last year plus some of the early videos. So many of your explanations hit home for me….. feeling safe with childhood things around me, leaving gifts as-is to feel that appreciation over and over, reliving memories through touching objects and souvenirs…..and so many more things, are ME ! I had no idea others felt this way. I DO feel stripped away in rooms without “stuff”… physically uncomfortable and cold. Holy Hannah! I love your channel and will be watching regularly now. Melanie, you are becoming a master declutterer and organizer! Brava!! 👏👏👏 A question for you: am I correct in thinking that you are not using the actual gifts you were given because you are afraid you will forget who gave them to you and why? If so, may I suggest that you take a photo of the gift(s) with whatever card they came with, and if there was no card - write down on an index card who gave it to you, when, and why. Then you can store the photos in one place and actually use the gifts.

Such beautiful decor, you nailed it as usual, it looks very pretty. It seems like you got a real aha-moment when you understood that you have the butterfly organizing style, you have found a method to get it the way that works best for you. The gift basket was genious! Now you can shop for yourself from your own gifts during the year, that is a gift in itself to be reminded of friends and family even if their love not are in the physical things. :)

I am really enjoying your videos! My childhood was traumatic and full of bullying. I don't have anything around me to remind me of childhood, its too triggering. Instead, I over fill my house with things that represent the adult me, that's what makes me fill safe. Its starting to get out of hand though, so I appreciate your tips and how you explain how to tailor your organizational methods with your organizational style. ❤

Dear Miss Heart, I always marvel at how willing you are to keep growing and changing by being open to change and finding what works best for you. The way you are using the Clutterbug system is just another great example of how self aware you are. For great change to happen, we need to truly know ourselves. I can honestly say that I am not there yet, but you dear friend, certainly are! Thanks for always being the shining light.

It really struck a cord with me when you mentioned that you felt unsafe after you decluttered a room. I could never explain that feeling. Thank you for helping me find the words…I was in an executive position and had a huge office. I ended up giving half of my office to the staff to use and moved into the private meeting room within the office. It was so strange to everyone that I didn’t enjoy the giant office…it triggered me and was stressful. I couldn’t make it feel cozy or “safe”. I’m the same way with my house. We lived in a 1200 sq ft house for 12 years. We upgraded and I can’t feel comfortable in it. It’s too empty and too idk. It has triggered my hoarding on a big way. Your channel has been so helpful. Thank you for what you do and for sharing. Your room is so cozy and personal. Love it!

Thank you for sharing your experience. It's hard when you can't communicate what's wrong to others. You're not only suffering but are isolated as well! ( I have this issue with describing my symptoms to Dr, took years to find someone who understood the symptoms I described and ordered the right blood tests that right away showed the problem and now I am getting treatment) It's awesome how she explains what's going on in her head! It's interesting too that extreme discomfort in empty space can also be a phobia called kenophobia. It's treatment is CBT or basically what H. HEART is doing on her channel. I am maybe a level 1,2 and didn't know. I don't have blocked doorways or unusable rooms or goatpaths but I definitely have too much stuff. I was trying to declutter logically and I like how she says do it emotionally and I am decluttering more that way!

You have given me such hope. My mom was an organized...horder...or as she said collector. It has been almost six years since she passed away and I now am seeing progress after a year of being intentional and small decluttering. Thank you for being on KZbin and being open about your struggles. My depression over the last 7 years has been so hard and this past year has been the worst. Yet I have made progress. Thank you again.

That looks amazing!! Your work in your master bathroom helped me to get mine organised in time for workmen to remodel the en-suite shower room. Now, it’s not perfect!! As I was putting clothes into labelled plastic bins, I could see that I can have another cull in future. But it is OK and Good Enough for now! And I am OK and Good Enough. I hate so much that you were bullied so badly! My mother always told me at the beginning of school if anyone messes with you, you have my permission to punch them in the face and if the school calls you won’t get in trouble with me. I did threaten a couple of people with that knowledge but thankfully never had to actually do it! And maybe for the truly close people in your life you can ask them to give you a gift of an experience that way you have a deadline to use it and that’s one less thing to bring home! Also you are doing amazing!!

I wonder if it would help to take the mirror box out of it's brackets and mount it on the wall? You could find a stud to put the screws into to make it quite sturdy. That would free up the floor and make the dust bunnies easier to clean but for me (a clumsy senior, haha) it especially would help with a possible trip hazard in the path. Just an idea -- never a criticism. Great work today pulling it all together and resetting!

It’s absolutely fantastic how far you’ve come with your hoarding, its great!! Tho your not a minimalist be careful not to fall into the trap of buying more storage bins &/or containers &/or shelves for you’ll end up with more stuff than ypu need & can manage long term- - - Realistically we can only wear so many clothes/shoes or read, color or draw in so many books, have so many toys, etc
@jennyjenkins877

Thank you for saying that in a positive way. I used to be an organized hoarder so I was feeling those concerns too because that's what I would do... fit some shelves here and a cabinet there to give an overabundance of things a home and make the space appear tidy. If she and hubby are happy with it then great - a 1 in, 1 out rule will keep it manageable. I just hope she knows she's worthy of (using) the gifts that she's received and it would be a shame if they were just stashed away for years and spoiled/disintegrated.

Ms heart.... please please look into essential oils and how they are toxic to cats. Its been heavy on my heart seeing the diffuser going every week. Not judging, I just want to spread awarness and keep our kitties safe. also, you are doing such an amazing job in this room, its actually starting to look like mine with all the crystals! I think it is so important to decorate your favorite spaces with special objects that bring you joy. I myself have some hoarding tendancies, but i think ive kept that at bay with decorating my room with special curated items that ive collected over the years.

Hi Mel, really looking forward to the time when it becomes second nature to you to put things away not put them down! You must move on from the past and declutter all those childhood toys, it is important to look ahead and not back This will save so much of your time. Perhaps it will also mean you have nothing to post on utube too. How exciting it will be to find other interests and hobbies you can do instead of constantly cleaning the same places time and again. Good luck!

Ms Heart, your bedroom looks so lovely the way you have decorated it with those beautiful family gifts and photos of your loved ones. May I suggest, however, that you be a little careful moving forward to not add too much more decorative decor, as your room could begin to look over cluttered again and as a result might become a less restful space. That said, I think your biggest accomplishment in the bedroom area is that you are now respecting the gifts given to you and not just leaving them unused, unattended to, or in piles on the floor. This is real progress that hopefully will make such a difference, especially as your bedroom room looks so tidy and organised now. I also think it’s great that you finally spent your unused gift cards on purchasing that new bench seat. It’s such a versatile and useful piece of furniture and it’s helpful for you that it provides a little extra storage too. The only thing I was left wondering however is where will you place the living room bench next Christmas when you put up your Christmas tree, now you have the other bench at the end of your bed?
