You’re so inspiring! I’m not a hoarder, but I do struggle with chronic illness, and when I’m not feeling well, the chores literally pile up. I often struggle with feeling like I need to get EVERYTHING done at once on my good days, because that time is precious. Your videos are helping me realize that a small amount of progress is still progress. JOLT has functioned, for me, as “Just One Little Task,” and it has made it easier for me to tackle my mountain of chores in a more relaxed way. My goal is to not be anxious when things aren’t finished to completion, and to give myself more grace to enjoy my healthy days instead of spending them stressing about laundry and dust. Love you, Ms. Heart! - Ellen

I also decluttered my room yesterday for a few hours, kitchen and hallway. Today I can't move an inch, not only was it tossing all the things out but also scrubbing the floors and now every fibre of my body hurts haha. Who needs squats and weights when you got a mop and heavy boxes to lift 😂

The basement is geeting seriously spacious. I'm loving this wave of basement clearing - especially as I know the work you did last year around the edges means that there's loads more space we can't see.

You're doing incredible! I couldn't imagine you getting here two years ago, just because you were so anxious. But here you are, setting an amazing example for others :) (That's not to say I didn't believe in you then, it's just such a transformation!)

I just went through all of my boxes of Barbie stuff that had been stored in my parent's attic. I have a very strong attachment to them, but knowing they were just being stored up there when I am trying to declutter was such a mental weight... Something that worked really well for me is that I found I actually had more attachment to the Barbie clothes and accessories than the Barbie dolls themselves (with a few exceptions). I kept the clothes for another day and donated most of the Barbies. It was difficult, but a huge relief!

I was at my parents a few weekends ago and knew I had a box of childhood toys in their attic. Mostly barbies. I decluttered all of it except for two stuffed animals that i took home. None of it was doing anyone good sitting in the attic!

Ms Heart, you have come so far on your journey!! This summer I have gone back and watched almost all of your videos from the beginning, so I've had the fast track of your journey, and the transformation you have made is just incredible, both in your home and in yourself! Every time you post a new video now I'm still amazed at how much you are ready to let go of, and how comfortable you are with your decisions. It's so good to see!!

You're making such quick decisions now! Every time a cardboard box or tissue paper come into my house I have a dilemma over saving it to reuse, so I know exactly how you ended up with all that. I throw it away 95% of the time now but it's still a challenge and I still have to talk myself into doing it :)

My fav first step is actually "refuse". Refuse all those samples and tempting offers of capitalist consumerism!! It trains one to see how much we don't need can how comfortably we can live on and off what we already have. 😊

Paper is the bane of everyone's existence. I try to not bring paper into my house and I still somehow have piles to go through at least once a month. I believe there is some kind of mischievous fairy that just makes them appear no matter what I do.

It's the paper fairy that's BFFs with the house elf who steals the socks from the dryer !
@heartofthematterlanguage2 жыл бұрын
I agree. I don't think it's a "hoarder" thing to need to lay hands on every piece of paper; we all do, because important stuff lurks there! It's just about when we lay hands on them-as they come into the house? In the next week? Or do we stuff it all away to deal with in ten years, when it will be totally overwhelming? Paper is the thing I'm worst at.

You are healing so well and changing so much! In the last few months I've watched every one of these videos, and I can hardly believe how far you've come! Later today I'm going to go back and watch your earlier videos, just for the contrast. I couldn't believe how easy you made it look to straighten your house when you were preparing for vacation! Such an enormous change! One comment: I keep hearing you say that you don't want to throw something away because you want to keep it out of the landfill. This is admirable. But honestly, the time to worry most about these effects is when we are BUYING. Because every time we buy something, we ask producers to make MORE of that, and we guarantee that something is going to a landfill eventually. (Or to be recycled, but even recycling costs energy and resources.) Once you buy something, you've committed to the environmental impact of that thing. The commitment happens when it is manufactured and bought, not when it is discarded. Your excellent no-spend-day policy has more impact than whether an individual item goes to the landfill now or in twenty years. Your "decorate with what I have" and "enjoy what I have" rules are the things that are turning your approach around.

I can't imagine myself now going through all the boxes :D Of course everything would spark joy as the reminders of my childhood. I would have a serious problem with throwing out stuff that someone kept for so many years for me. And you know what? I don't miss anything now :) Good job with decluttering your basement. You are encouraging me to declutter myself. I learned from you that even one single item decluttered is better than zero items. JOLT :) I don't comment often but I watch your every video and I keep my fingers crossed for your recovery. Hugs from Poland :) :) ♥

Awesome effort Ms Heart. I like the new systems you are setting up as you go. You really are making huge progress these days. I pray sometime soon you can find a huge non sentimental section and see just how much you can do. Someone told me today that making a pile in a corner to go through a little bit everyday if you are ill. I am very fatigued right now and their example reminded me of your way of sorting. I'm asking my family to pile up items in the spare room tonight so it's easier and safer to sort through. This way I can keep sorting through the clutter and making progress with baby steps each day.
