For the dentist bag, you can tell them " I don't need a bag" and just stick the toothbrush and paste in your purse. saves another bag from the landfill. The junk mail no mail list takes a couple of months to kick in because businesses prepare mailings months in advance. just give it time.

This is true! I actually found a use for my dental bags. I tie two onto each of the handles of my hamper. In these bags go my used makeup remover rounds so the oil and grime does not mix with the clothes in the hamper. During the wash and dry cycles, I place the rounds in a separate delicates mesh bag for safe keeping or else they cling to things! Then I just change them out as needed.

Good idea! Probably wouldn’t work at my particular dentist, though. They preassemble the bags and would just throw it away if I rejected it! If only they made them out of biodegradable materials we could feel better about 🪥

I just got in the habit of going through mail as soon as it came in. I set most bills and statements to be paperless and autopay and then put a small shredder right by the drop zone when I walk in the door so I could shred obvious junk right away. Stuff doesn't necessarily get dealt with immediately (unless it is a bill that can't be on autopay), but at least there is no junk! You go girl. I am not diagnosed with ADHD, but I strongly relate to many ADHD symptoms that cross over with severe depression (which I am diagnosed with). Darn those chemical imbalances. You are such an inspiration, Miss Heart!

Thank you so much for your advice!! I do need to make it a subconscious habit for myself….when I’m not in hyper focus and my mind just races, anything that gets done is bc I’m on autopilot. So that is one strategy I’m looking into!! And yes, those darn chemical imbalances 😅 Thank you so much for being my friend 🦄💜🌟🙏🏻

I'd love to see a kitchen declutter and pantry update :D When you find candy I always think you could put candy/sweets on the "no buy" list for your monthly no spend challenge, because it always seems to go forgotten in your house :D

Hi Miss Heart - here in Alberta Canada - you can put a label on your mailbox saying - no unaddressed mail please check with your postal service - also take a few minutes and unsubscribe to any addressed junk mail including company catalogues etc - almost all companies have a website and use the contact form to send them an email to unsubscribe from any mailers. Its amazing how much junk mail you can get rid of ! 💜

I have adhd and find not having a dumping spot just doesn’t work. At first I didn’t want one because I would dump stuff there but then not having one I just dumped stuff everywhere else. I realized there are times I’m just not going to put stuff away or busy days. I accepted that and got a basket near the door to dump things. Now I at least know where all my dumped items are and put them away when I make the time.

Thank you for giving us this video to start the 2022. Have an awesome year. This has to be one of the most satisfying videos I have seen. So many things will be reused, correctly stored and organized, cute and useful things to keep, re-gifted things, a small tossy pile where most of the things were actually recyclable and were put in the recycling bin. I knew you were going to be able to clear that space easily but your decision making exceeded my expectations. Thank you for sharing your growth and inspiring us to grow too.

Happy New Year, Regarding mail...the moment it hits my door mat (in the UK we have letterboxes in our front door), I sort my mail...junk..goes straight In the recycle bin... But I do shake it all first as sometimes the postie puts other letters with it! My house got really bad before Xmas...I was struggling with anxiety and depression (still am, but alot better now), as a domestic cleaner and going into people's homes...I do 3 cleans a day...and yeah...mine get done whenever...but I got to the point of running from cough/colds and clients doing urgent PCR test..I had enough as I felt I was running and running and would come home to my house being a MESS.... So quit cleaning for my clients the last 2 weeks before Xmas for 2021...and looking set to return later this month (waiting to see him covid numbers go down, as now alot of clients are working from home...again 😬🤦🏼‍♀️ (makes it harder to social distance and clean) So I've been getting my house back in order again, I now try and get kitchen clean before bed, and have a quick tidy up before bed!... I also got into the habit of not going upstairs or downstairs empty handed and put whatever it is away that I have in my hand! I'm sure I have ADHD/autism, as I know I have some common traits...

Catalog Choice has stopped 90% of our junk mail but you do have to go through things individually (so like if you want to stop getting Ikea magazines, Target flyers, and fresh direct flyers- you have to search and "unsubscribe" from each one on their website if that makes sense) but it's worth the work

I have ADHD and I have two methods of keeping my home clean: first is a habit to "clean as I go" so whenever I change location in my home I take stuff from the first location that doesn't belong there and take it to to the next. Works well for example with taking dishes from bedroom to kitchen. I think this sounds either weird or obvious to neurotypical people but building this habit has really helped me to clean a bit all the time so that my home won't get super messy to the point where I'm too overwhelmed to clean. The second way of cleaning is to focus on a small area at a time (like you do with your basement!). ❤️ I hope you have a relaxing start to new year ❤️

I am currently actively seeking an ADHD diagnosis along with my autism, and there are a bunch of different Tiktok videos that talk about ADHD advice from neurotypical people and ADHD advice from people who actually have ADHD, and there is a big difference. The NT advice basically boils down to “Just do the thing and hold yourself accountable” while the ADHD advice says “Work with the brain you have and make it easier for yourself where you can”.

Sometimes in the junk mail letters will be in small print how you can get them to stop sending you stuff. Alternately, cross out your adress, write on it "moved, adress unknown", and mail it back. That might get them to take your adress of their list.

Don't worry! ADHD presents differently in everyone. The two of us who run our channel struggle with different things and different tricks help us, too. Regarding the junk mail, I actually just did a short on that! My solution was to get tough on myself and just recycle it all without even allowing myself to go through it all. Lord knows I can't do it quickly! I'm on a journey of making space for my ADHD and I don't have extra time or energy to be pouring into flyers for fast food and gutter filters. 😆 So if the piece of mail isn't personal in any way, save your time and energy for yourself, your kids, your space. ❤ You aren't missing much! Wishing you the best.

Well done, love the mail basket idea to keep it all together. Does the basket being on the table lead to more things being left around it on the table, clutter attracting more clutter? Was wondering if you have thought about putting the mail basket on top of the cube storage unit, to make it a command centre, or in a wall pocket by the side of the front door to see if it helps to keep the table a little clearer. You are doing a fantastic job, am loving the basement declutter from Emily

Catalog choice. For several months, any time I got a new catalog I would add it. It took a while (can take companies several months to purge their list), but I saw a significant drop in what I get, even during the holidays (and then I just add the them unless I actually want to get them next year). For other stuff, like financial offers, you can always try and call, but it's also based on who you have pre-existing financial relationships with. Ultimately, the real changer is to only 'touch' the mail when it comes it and then it gets recycled or an action choice is made on it. If you are doing a Sunday basket, or even while watching TV at night, you can do the actions from that day/week. It never becomes overwhelming; I actually just got the mail before starting this video and it took me less than a min to deal with (all recycling).

I had to sign up for a couple of the no junk websites, the first couple of results tend to be the most popular ones. I also had to make the effort to contact some of the more frequent offenders directly and ask to be removed from mailing lists. You can also put a “no junk mail” sign in your mail box, or “only deliver mail addressed to ____”. But I just always walk past my recycle box on my way back with the mail and I just do a quick sort and dump all junk mail.

A helpful hint is to have a small paper shredder where you go thru mail and shred the junk mail right away. Hope this helps.

I went straight to the post office and asked to not get flyers etc. It doesn't stop all of it but it helps. Otherwise I would suggest looking at what is coming in and try contacting the companies to ask them to stop sending junk mail to you - some you may be able to access online. You did an amazing job on getting it all back into shape :) :) I have a fair amount of Christmas craziness leftovers to clear out - thank you for the motivation :)

I don't even let the junk mail enter the house. I put it straight in the recycling bin outside.

I have adhd and ocd and i get stressed from clutter and mess but my house is always messy because i have 4 kids and homeschool full time. Plus i am pregnant. Let me tell you that at the end of the day no matter how much i clean i remind myself that my kids will remember if i spent the whole day cleaning for if i spent time with them.
