The manufacturers need to understand that solar generators are largely used in emergencies and need a variety of charging and supplemental battery options. Users will reward those that give them more options! I wish for "junk charging" and "junk supplemental battery" ports that can take anything from 10v DC to 120v DC. :)

This is a great product for anyone that does not already have a battery bank and inverter and has a small area to cool. if you don't, buy this and an Eco flow power station together, or the battery they made for it. If you already have a battery bank and inverter you should just get a cheaper inverter window unit for around 400 dollars, you will have more btus which is how you measure cooling capacity. 12000 btus is 1 ton of cooling which will cool 500 square ft. this unit is 1/3 ton so it is made to cool about 200 sqaure ft area.

I disagree regarding buying the attached battery. It is an $800 to $900 battery who’s sole purpose is to power the EcoFlow Wave. If the Wave breaks, the battery is useless. You are paying a lot of money for a battery that you will probably use only 3 months a year. EcoFlow could easily had given the battery the capability to charge a phone, tablet, or computer. I would only consider buying this if you had a real need and had a Delta Max or Delta Pro. Otherwise it is way too much money if you have to buy a battery that does nothing else but run the Wave for 3 months a year. I predict EcoFlow will have to give the battery more capability and I would hold off buying it until they do. They rushed this product to the market place without responding to any questions. I think it will impact their sales.
@jw3843
@jw3843 2 жыл бұрын
@@gary860 Well, I agree with you on the battery. Which is why I suggested the delta power station first. I would always choose the power station over the battery they made for this unit. Personally, this thing is way to expensive for what it does, same with the zero breeze, this is not new tech, It is just very expensive for less cooling than with a window unit. But you still save money buying this if you dont already have a set up with batteries and an inverter than buying this and a whole battery system and everything you need to charge it.

I have to agree it already comes with a way to run off universal AC. If you want to run off DC your options are to do what I show in this video, get their $600 battery, or one of their Delta products. Ecoflow has always been the higher priced "Apple" of the battery brands and many have no problem paying the premium for higher end products. Ecoflow has no incentive to allow folks to use other brands to run their a/c.

You've created this channel to show and share your personality and insightful knowledge on a great many things that are of interest to a great # of people. Based on your sound advice and knowledgeable recommendations, people, in turn, come to you for answers. Thought that was kind of the point. Now you seem irritated that people seek your input. Seems to me there's a wide ranging # of smart, dull, slow and even wise people that care about what you've offered up to us all to think about and learn from. Sometimes I'm smarter than your average gummy bear. Sometimes, regarding certain things, I'm not. But in this case, I detect some frustration and or annoyance directed at us loyal supporters of what we "thought" you were offering. Was gonna ask you why the sky is blue. Figured it out. The sky is blue because it's sad. Maybe take a break and some time away. I don't "think" your supporters are intentionally trying to irritate you. Seems as though some have.

I'm not even a novice tech but it seems they're trying to crave a nitch in the outdoor/ DIY camper world. These would also be great in the trucking industry too. (If you have the power to run it)Even though trucks can start and stop with a thermostat. Not really sure I'd spend all that money on it to begin with though. It does stink that they have it set up the way they did but teething problems happen. I hope the people that have a need for this get the answers they need from this video. Did Bluetti up date they 3,00 so all the batteries can charge from the head/inverter unit?

I have tested some window ACs and it used less power with the fan on high since the inside and outside fan are coupled if you turn the fan to low the power drops but it climbs back up because the outside fan is slower and I assume the pressures get higher and the compressor has to work harder and it wasn't a big difference but it was there and not working the compressor harder is probably a good thing

I get why EcoFlow does this. When a compressor kicks on, there is a heavy load; unless the power input can handle it, there could be issues. For a battery, the BMS might not be able to handle the load. I will use a power inverter feed by a battery. I know there will be some loss from the inverter, but it is a HELL of a lot cheaper than the $800.00 battery add-on. targeting 800-1000w inverter. I'll test with a Giandel 600w with a surge capacity of 1200w first.

It is interesting to note how many people don't want to run the air conditioner off of another EcoFlow Product. 😳 I wonder why that is ? 👀 Could it be the EcoFlow Power Generators are just too expensive for what they are and people are unwilling to pay a premium price for a name ? 👀
@HOBOTECH
@HOBOTECH 2 жыл бұрын
Ecoflow has always been the higher priced "Apple" of the battery brands and many have no problem paying the premium for higher end products. I think the problem more is that most don't want to buy a Delta just to run this a/c unit and aren't thinking about the other uses for a top end solar generator.

@@HOBOTECH I calculate, if you want to embrace the EcoFlow 220 VOLT AC, dual phase battery backup solution to run your house for 4 to 5 days at a time, then you will need to pay EcoFlow the premium price of $23,000.00 USD for the privilege. 😳🥺👎🏻

@HOBOTECH 2 жыл бұрын
Actually a pair of Delta Pro with the double voltage hub for 240v operation would be under $8000. If you want to run for days on emergency power then yes you would want to add batteries to that. However, to run my 240v house for days cost me well over $25k in DIY equipment and that's building my own batteries from raw cells so is Ecoflow really that much more?
@markjob6354
@markjob6354 2 жыл бұрын
@@HOBOTECH I would say no, but my point is the whole setup is still costing such a high premium that there are not many folks who can afford to shell out this kind of money. There's the $8,000.00 USD just to get you in the door with a functional system which will run your entire house for a few hours, then there's the real cost you need to pay in order to buy enough battery storage to facilitate a practical running time, and then there's the need to feed that extra battery system with enough solar panels to actually keep that system in full opeartion (2,500 + Watts of panels at least). It's an entreprise operation solution required. This is just too complicated and too much cash for the average person. Hopefully, in the future, we will have more affordable turn key solutions from these same manufacturers ?
@HOBOTECH
@HOBOTECH 2 жыл бұрын
@@markjob6354 This is actually one of the SIMPLEST solutions for home backup which is why it costs more. If you go the DIY route it will save you money assuming you know what you're actually doing which most don't. DIY can get extremely complicated. These Ecoflow units are meant for emergency use to power critical loads during a blackout and not a 30kwh/day home with every appliance running. For that you need a $50k+ solution. Apples to oranges. If you do wire the Ecoflow into your home you can write off 26% of the cost of the entire system (including panels) through the current federal solar tax credit. Ecoflow grosses tens of millions in sales per year so someone has to be buying them...

Ecoflow said on their FB forum that you could not simultaneously run the unit and charge the battery with the DC cable. They said this was due to the 200w solar charging limitation. So I assumed that while the unit was running that the DC charging circuit would be disabled.
@HOBOTECH
@HOBOTECH 2 жыл бұрын
That's definitely not the case. It wouldn't make sense for them to disable solar input while running.

@@HOBOTECH Perhaps the Wave is simply ingesting the power from your custom DC source and supplementing itself from the battery as needed? That, too, could explain the longer battery life. Would have been great to see an example using a step up converter. I can see many 12v VanLifers willing to go this route if they could leverage existing solar/lithium options.

Hi professor Hobo Thanks for all your precious advices you are the best! I purchase with your link the Delta Max and the EcoFlow Wave AC combo and i love it! I would love to recharge the Delta Max with solar so i buy the 300watts ATEM POWER solar panel blanket cause they are more then half of the price of the EcoFlow portable solar panel and they are much more compact. But i have a problem the connection wires who comes with the ATEM do not match with the one who comes with the Delta Max. Can you please call tell me witch adaptor and wires should i buy and can you please send me the link of them is you sale them. Do you have a email by chance where i can send you pictures about that ? if that helps cause i have no knowledge on electricity. If by chance you can do a review of the ATEM Power solar blanket that will be very interesting for your followers i think. Thanks a lot by advance 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Hobo, quick question: I’ve got the wave packaged with the Delta Max. Following the directions, I connected the extra battery cable from the wave to the delta max. The wave powers up but won’t engage the fan or compressor. But when I connect the ac cord and run that to the Max, works fine. The instructions are incorrect.

UPDATE: What Ecoflow doesn’t tell you is that your Wave unit may need a firmware update. My unit wouldn’t power up using the battery cable to my Delta Max. I connected the app to my Wave, updated the firmware, and voilà! Now the Wave connected to DC on the Delta Max works just fine.

Question; in case of a power outage, AFTER disabling the main breaker, could I connect the Delta outlet to any inlet at the house, for powering some lights etc on that string (no heavy users) for a while? I can imagine that a battery which delivers 220v and I deliver that (output) to an outlet in the house which has no power at that moment the outlet would get 220v from the battery and everything connected to that outlet's string like a lamp, a TV etc would run on the battery... The outlet and wires in the house would then just act as an extention cable, right?

Crazy Ecoflow thinking by capping the solar DC input with 12-30v 8A. If they made it 16A it would have been perfect for DIY battery (solar) hookup and a lot more of these standalone Ecoflow AC´s with battery would be sold. Now you can´t run it indefinitely on DC, still have to buy an included battery and use it only with AC wall power.

Because people do dumb things to save a buck. I think the way they marketed the pricy bundles was poor. They sell bundles with expensive battery generators and don't explain why you should get the generator too. Its NOT just for running the a/c but has a million uses of its own including home backup. This is what folks are paying for. Most just look at how much it costs with a battery generator and say "I'm not paying $2500 for an air conditioner!" when the reality is the a/c is actually just an add-on product!

Those pins are definitely data pins. It may short some of those pins to turn it on. With a schematic, it's probably possible, but obviously not recommended. The 24V battery idea is good, but I'm not sure if I would trust the regulation circutry on the solar charge controller. I'd probably put some sort of current limiter in front of it for safety.
