If this weren’t a sequel to a cheesy 90’s Halloween movie I wouldn’t like this movie very much. Fortunately it is, and I’d say it’s a damn good sequel. It takes concepts from the old movie and expands upon them, as well as bringing in some new ones:

This was definitely a favorite of mine back as a child and the sequel has become a favorite as well. I have seen this movie multiple times already, I have seen multiple reactions to it, and I still get teary eyed at the end when Winifred realizes how much she treasures her sisters. To see her discover her broken heart and then to see her give up her power for her sisters. Damn, I'm getting teared up just typing this out! lol. I know it didn't measure up to the first one, but many films never do. I still love this film. However, I guess being part of the society that enjoyed the first one when it came out, I am so used to having films on either VHS or DVD. I don't know if shows/movies that come out on streaming platforms will ever be released for public sale or if they will remain only on the platform. It just feels awkward to me. lol

I’m calling it now. There’s gonna be a tv series. The introduced side and background characters, Book being an actual character with a name, the Raven/Witch following them ominously. I’m getting big like My Babysitters a Vampire vibes. Like tell me the actors for Gilbert and the Mayor don’t feel like characters in a late 90s - early 2000s Disney/Nick teen show. Like Suite Life. And you know what, I actually don’t think I hate it. Of depends on how it actually turns out and if they get the tone/vibe right. Here’s my theory. The Witch shows up offering to teach the magic girl (blanking on her name) but then they realize she’s evil. They stop her big plan and she swears vengeance not just on Salem but the three girls. Now we have our main antagonist.

This movie just breaks the lore of the 1st one too hard. The only way I can reconcile it making any sense is this is a different timeline, and perhaps most of the events of the first movie even happened. Like, them being little girls in 1653 makes no sense since, they are like, hundreds of years old by 1693 when they sucked the soul out of Zachary's Sister and made themselves young again. They're also canonically the Daughters of Merlin and Morgan Le Fay, so yeah, hundreds of years old (I'm guessing in this version their "Father" must have been an adoptive father or something, otherwise Merlin croaked) Also, they changed the book origins, 1st movie, Winifred said she got The Book from The Devil Himself as a gift (Which is also why they worshipped the guy dressed like the devil and called him Master), but in this version they get it from a Fairy-God-Mother-Esque Witch. Really loved the first movie, but the writers of this one just didn't pay attention to the first movie's lore, it just doesn't fit.
