I just discovered your video channel and so far I've watched parts 1 & 2 of this series, and really enjoyed it. I would like to compliment you on a several things. First, good subject matter. Second, good interaction between yourself and Dustin without overdoing it with forced or excessive banter. Third, both had an air of competence about you that showed through despite your inexperience with tractors. All in all, I really enjoyed these videos enough that I'll be going over to your channel to see what else you have.

Both Dustin and I *greatly* appreciate this kind comment my friend! 😁👍 Neither of us are experts on tractors. The main objective was to show how everyday people can still pick up, lean about and fix a project with just some basic knowledge. It truly means a lot that this comment and countless others are from people who understand. Made my day to see this. We do talk a bit more in "Part 4" but we tried to keep it as simple as possible. Dustin is a great guy and I'm glad to hear people like this series. Take care and stay safe out there. 🔧🔩 -Zane

If I remember correctly a lot of old Massey Ferguson had a problem of the shifting forks getting discombobulated if somebody was lifting up or pulling up on the gear shift lever when they're shifting gears. A Massey Ferguson repair shop showed us how to fix that. Pretty much the same way you did.
@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE
@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I heard later on that this was a pretty common problem. Luckily the kind viewers gave Dustin and I suggestions. It's freed up now and shifting like it should. Cold weather has prevented any progress but hopefully in the next video or two it will be running 🙂👍 Thanks for stopping by Kerry. Take care 🔧🔩

I have a 35 from 1961 I bought 32 years ago. I live in Finland so it's a British tractor with a 3-cyl. Perkins diesel, but I think the rest of the technology is pretty much the same. The 4-cyl engine is a "Standard" engine. Btw, you can tell a 4-cyl apart from a 3-cyl without even looking closer at the engine: The 4-cyl has the exhaust on the right side and the 3-cyl has it on the left side. There should be 8 US Gallons (30 litres) of transmission oil in the "transmission housing". The gear box and the differential is the same unit. If it's empty there most likely is a leak. It would be a good idea to, at first check if the attachment bolts for the tappets located under the rear axle housings are leaking. These bolts are tapered and fastened with nuts on the inside of the housings. It's pretty easy to unscrew the housings if you take off the wheels first. (I had this problem on my 35). You should also change the transmission filter before you refill the housing with new oil. This filter is often forgotten and I bet this one looks bad too. You reach the filter by removing the PTO lever cap on the left side. But DON'T take the lever off the cap!! There are small parts that can drop into the transmission. The air filter is an oil-bath filter. There is no filter to replace. Just clean the can and the steel wool filter with diesel and fill the can with fresh motor oil, the same oil you use in the engine. English isn't my first language so I don't know if all terms are correct but I wish you can understand.

Minun piti kääntää Internetissä, joten toivottavasti tämä toimii. Arvostan mukavaa kommenttia. Olen hämmästynyt siitä, kuinka paljon näitä traktoreita on muissa maissa. Hienoa, että voit vielä ostaa niihin osia. Ystäväni kuuli vaihteistosuodattimesta, mutta olen kiitollinen neuvoistasi. Toivomme, että saamme traktorin pian käyntiin. Hey, I always watch your videos all the way to the end. How else do I know how it ends? No worries! Cool Chevette. Not exactly the car I would have guessed for a rally car. Watching you guys unload that reminded me of a past experience. A friend of mine had a Vega drag car. 454, blower, 4 speed and a narrowed rear axle. Looking at it from the rear the slicks just about covered up the axle tubes. The last pass of the night brought a horrible sound of gears that were not happy. He won the pass anyway but I had to tow him back to the pits. We managed to drive it on the trailer despite the skipping crunchy sound of unhappy gears. We either busted the trans or the rear, soon the deed would be found as we usually just rolled it off the trailer. 4 something in the morning we get set to unload. We put it in neutral and shoved. Nothing. Wouldn't budge. Great, that meant it was a busted rear end. We get my truck and try to tug it off. Nope. We borrowed a friend's tractor. It just drug trailer and truck. The friend had forks on his tractor so we managed to get under the rear axle and lift. Nope. Now the cat was out of the bag! Both of us being tired and disgusted had thought each of the other had unhooked the chain on the front. Nope. All we could do is sit in the grass and laugh. The rear axle was fine. The 4 speed not so fine. It broke the case and split the bell housing. I hadn't thought of that in years. LOL! Cheers Terry

Thanks i like the car. Not the US version of the chevette. But the Vauxhall chevettes have a pretty great rally heritage. This on I just happened to find in a barn and I got it running. And it just evolved into the car it is today. I don't run full stage road rally with it yet. I'll get there eventually.. But it is a pretty good rallycross car. It's gets ran hard and is still probably one of the more reliable cars if got.

I watch all the way and sometimes twice. I just bought a 2005 Mack sleeper for $13,500 it has the Mack M-7 engine with 572,000 on it. The truck starts right up and shifts fine.The inside is filthy and the driver seat 💺, cabinets and bed 🛌 are missing. It’s an old driving school truck but that’s not a problem for me. I’m going to pay to get it road worthy while still driving. All of my tools are in storage.

Well Zane my projects of the weekend are trying to get one of my rental units finished up so I can rent it out yesterday I started by two toning the hallway put the primer on the bottom half of the wall then while that was drying I cleaned all the windows and frames then painted the lower half of the walls so while that dried up I started to remove the old sink and countertop but only ended up taking out the sink my wife wanted some some French fry’s with cheese and grayvy oh I not sure if I had mentioned in the past that she’s battling cancer for the last two years and the last few weeks it’s been rough for both of us with me being back at work finding it tough cause I’m not there to help out Zane sorry rambling on but thanks for letting me vent even though I a pure stranger to you but I do appreciate your videos they give me drive to do my jobs at hand thank your friend Roger Lalonde

Don't ever feel the need to apologize Roger! :) I enjoy reading comments. I'm sorry to hear she's fighting cancer. Hang in there my friend. Sorry it took soo long to reply, I have been swamped at work. This heat really isn't helping out either , But I would rather sweat than freeze any day. I'm hoping you can get your rental property fixed up soon enough. Then it's relaxation time :) Take care and I'll talk to you later

You know why you are having so many issues with this tractor right? You don't have the right attire to be working on it! Where's your bibbies and flannel shirt? You've gotta be wearin the right clothes or the tractor won't listen to you! :P And look, Dustin fixed the trans while wearing flannel! It's a thing I'm telling you! :D

@@graveloverlord Blame Kevin of Junkyard Digs for that one with him reviving everything needed to plant corn.. which somehow actually all worked.. and he was wearing bibbies and flannel the whole time.
